Meridian Water

I rebuked my thought as I imagined him taking a shower, my body tingled in response and I swore under my breath. What was happening to me? In two years, although I had slept with many men, I never had time to play on a mission, especially when that mission was to protect the prince and the target of my thoughts was the PRINCE.

I ignored the excitement that invaded me when an image of his bare chest came to my mind, and decided to see what there was for us to eat. Pork bathed in blood and a glass of what were probably tears. Yes. Dark wizards often feed on human suffering, tears of bitterness are one of the most served cups at parties and public places. Nothing new under the shadow.

When he came out of the room wearing only soft cloth pants and no shirt, I almost wanted to get out of there. The environment seemed to acquiesce quite quickly, and although we were already living together, doomed to hell, the heat of that body under my vision was much more threatening. His wet hair fell into his face, and his tattoos and runes caught my attention. Not to mention the muscles, the arms and the six-pack... He raised an eyebrow when he noticed my gaze on his body, and I returned it. Our eyes met for a few seconds.

“The food is served.” I spoke with a certain tone of laziness in my voice, directing my gaze to the window and heading towards it. Observing the commons outside, traffic and the forest in the distance.

“Aren’t you going to eat?” He asked.

“Yes, I will.” I responded by nodding.

He sat down to eat and a few seconds later, I walked over and sat down on a chair in front of him. I didn't want to sit next to him and have the possibility of his body touching mine while those damn thoughts reigned. We ate silently. And then he settled down on the bed to sleep. I placed my chair near the window, where I could see the moon more accurately, sometimes I had the habit of admiring it. She was so beautiful, brilliant.

“Do you sleep?” He asked.

“It’s not common.” I responded vaguely, still staring at the moon.

“You should sleep tonight, we have a long trip.” He said.

“I'm here to protect you, not sleep, prince.” I responded by looking at him for a few seconds.

“We have plenty of other guards out there, a moment’s rest won’t put me in danger.” His voice sounded hoarse and tired.

“Is that an order?” I ironized.

“Yes, it is an order. Lie here.” He said lightly and sleepily.

I got up from the chair and went to the bed, I lay down next to him, being careful not to touch him. I felt my body heat up again and sighed, trying not to show the discomfort that act caused me. He was lying on his back, his eyes were closed, but I saw a smirk playing on his lips. A smile I've never seen, that appeared only for small seconds and disappeared. His face seemed to fade away as he fell asleep.

I placed my hands under my belly and took a deep breath, I didn't usually sleep. Yes. I was tired. But I was always in constant movement, training or hunting, because it was in dreams that my reality screamed. I stared at him for a few seconds, his features, now light under his pale skin, his pink and attractive lips, his thick eyebrows, he was extremely handsome, I could say perfect for a wizard.

I looked away and kept my mind thinking, but soon, everything became cloudy, and I gradually blacked out. Being taken over by darkness.

The soft light from the infirmary bathed the room, revealing a series of empty beds around me. I was lying on a bed, covered in white sheets and bandages wrapped around my body. A veil of confusion covered my mind, leaving me without memories, without knowing where I was. My eyes slowly opened, and my senses began to adjust to my surroundings. I felt a throbbing pain throughout my body, as if I had been thrown into a whirlpool. I looked down and saw my arms covered in bandages and bruises. A wave of worry and fear washed over me as I tried to understand what had happened.

A figure dressed in white entered the ward and approached my bed, it was a woman, she looked like a shadow when she moved, her face showed some runes drawn on it and her black eyes watched me.

"He remembered." He said, his tone sounded like a whisper, as if he were speaking in my mind and not to me.

I tried to speak, but my voice barely came out as a hoarse whisper. She brought a glass with something unknown to me, I didn't know what I was drinking, but immediately the bruises seemed to move across my body until they diminished and disappeared completely.

“Do you remember what happened?” He asked, watching me.

"No." I whispered, feeling better. "I...don't remember anything," I mumbled, my words echoing with a mix of confusion and anguish.

The nurse looked at me with a piercing look.

“Don’t you remember who you are or where you came from?” He asked.

"No." I sighed.

“Do you remember your name?” He asked again. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, feeling despair taking over me.

“Meridian.” I heard a voice echo inside me, as if it was the last thing I had heard. “My name is Meridian, and that’s all I remember.”

******

I woke up with a start, sitting up in bed and looking around me. I took a deep breath when I noticed that I was in the inn's room, and the prince was next to me, looking at me intrigued. My hair felt sweaty, sweat was running down my forehead.

I passed my hand over my forehead, wiping it with the back of my hand, while I sighed deeply.

"All good?" He asked, arching one of his eyebrows.

“Just a dream.” I responded by sitting up straight.

“You dream...” He spoke curiously.

"You don't?" I looked at him, raising an eyebrow.

“I'm like a demon…” He said it as if it were obvious. I continued staring at him. “Just darkness.”

“Ah…” I grunted.

“What do you dream about?” He asked, there seemed to be curiosity despite the drowsiness in his voice.

“Wars, deaths, chaos, creatures, and the day I woke up with no memory.” I responded by being honest and trying not to let on how much I felt affected by that dream.

“And what’s it like?” He said. “The feeling of dreaming about these things?”

“Shadow.” I sighed, staring at the still dark sky in the window in front of us. “Pretty dark.”

“That shouldn’t be a problem for you!” He said as if he was thoughtful.

“Yes…” I whispered. I wanted to say that I was not a dark being, I did not carry the spirit of shadows. “Go back to sleep, prince, it’s still night.”

FOUR MONTHSMeridian My eyes were fixed on the fire in front of me, but I felt nothing but cold. It was as if the shadows were creeping up on me, clinging to my skin and trying to swallow my heart. All around, the murmurs of the pack surrounded me. I could feel the glances—some suspicious, others excited. They whispered about me, as if I couldn't hear them, but I did. What was I to them? A ghost of what I once was? A relic that came back broken?Renan was a little distant; his presence was like a blade against my skin; his anger was almost tangible, but there was something else underneath, something that tormented me more than his hatred: pain.He didn't come to me.But the alpha came.I didn't look up immediately. I heard the weight of his footsteps as he approached and sat down next to me, but I continued to stare into the fire. The heat seemed as distant as all the recent events."When you were little, you were fascinated by fire." He said, his voice deep but serene. "You tried t

JOKER - SWEENEYDarlon Sweeney The room was plunged into shadows. Black candles arranged in a circle faintly lit up the room, illuminating part of my face. In my hands, an ancient armoire lay open, containing forbidden runes. What was I doing? I wasn't even sure.I took a deep breath. I began, tracing the symbols on the floor that would anchor the magic. When I had completed the ritual, I muttered a few words in an ancient language, my voice resonating through the empty hall and raising every hair on my body. In the center of the symbol, the shadows contorted to form the silhouette of a woman. Then suddenly there she and I were, in an old cell with gold bars, an old window overlooking the moon. She stared at me confused, and the dim light showed me her black eyes, making me shudder inside."Meridian…" I whispered hesitantly; she seemed fine, but when she faced me and I didn't see her beautiful eyes, I felt the pain of knowing that it was because of me, and that perhaps I had lost her

  • The alpha's daughter predestined to his enemy    42 Tell me your version.

Tell me your version.Meridian When I woke up, I was too tired to say anything. The price I needed to pay had arrived. In the mirror, I saw black eyes. The dark magic hadn't taken hold of my mind, but it had vulnerably taken hold of my body. It was taking me over little by little, and with the gaps in my memory, I felt I was getting weaker and weaker to fight. It was the price of saving the prince; I didn't die, but the dark magic remains with us, taking over our identity little by little and turning us dark. I knew the consequences.I also knew that now I could die because, in their eyes, perhaps I really wasn't the she-wolf they wanted so much. I was a dark renegade. It was Eden who entered the room, snapping me out of my daydreams and reminding me of the episode that made me black out. When I turned to face him, I saw the shock on his face. He stepped back for a second, and I just sighed."I wasn't taken." I assured him."How does it feel?" He whispered, still at a distance."That

ELEANOR SWEENEY: SWEENEYPrince Darlon Night fell over the palace, but the tranquility it promised seemed like a distant dream. The main hall was full of whispers and laughter, all directed at the new guest: Eleanor Sweeney, my distant cousin. Tall, imposing, and with a smile that seemed to contain secrets, she had arrived with the air of someone who already owned everything, even what wasn't hers yet.I watched her from afar, sitting in an ornate armchair near the fireplace. My father, always calculating, radiated satisfaction as he introduced Eleanor to some advisors and nobles. She was accurately what he had hoped for: a symbol of the union between two powerful magical and dark lineages. A tool for his expansion, a means of conquering territories without a rebellion. But for me, she was just another piece on Fondark Sweeney's board. And I, the other piece that he moved as he pleased."Cousin!" Eleanor's voice was sweet, but there was a cold determination in it. She walked over to m

TRUTH IS A RELATIVE CONCEPTMeridian Water. The moon was high, illuminating with a thin glow that seemed to reflect the state of my mind, while the shadows tried to take hold of me. Everything was getting more and more intense. I wish I could have chosen to be in my room. But I was forced to go down to the counting moon. The little boy, Eden, had already been talking at the top of his lungs about what the celebration was like, and I was so tired that I just let him talk and pretend to be interested. Maybe he'd tell me how to escape. My head was spinning with so much information, and when I was finally able to breathe. I found myself leaning against a rock, and if I wasn't mistaken. I caught a glimpse of Renan sitting on it earlier, with Lauren. He had disappeared.I took a deep breath, trying to maintain my posture and control. Not to give in.Don't give in.Don't give in.“There's no point in fighting the inevitable, Meridian.” I muttered to myself, feeling the weight of those words

39 - I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORERenan FolderI sat in that clearing, unable to move, stuck replaying every detail of the training session with Meridian in my mind. Tonight was the Full Moon Gathering—a night where we all sat around the fire, listening to the stories of our ancestors. It was supposed to be a beautiful night, but I couldn’t focus on any of it. My mind was too full of intrusive thoughts. The clearing had been decorated, and it looked beautiful. The moon was already creeping into the space, and I used to find comfort in its light, but tonight, it felt more like a spotlight, exposing the parts of me I preferred to keep buried.People were starting to arrive, but I kept my distance, leaning against the same rock where I had once talked to Meridian before she was taken. Lauren appeared beside me, carrying a jar of flowers. She always had this lightness about her, as if nothing could really shake her, but her eyes told a different story.“So…” she started, setting th
