So Arrogant:
I was standing before Markos, holding my hands tightly together, tears rolling down my cheeks.
My heart was pounding heavily that I could literally hear it. My cheeks flushed with embarrassment. I never believed a day would when I would ask Markos for help but I had no choice.
"Markos, please," I said quietly, my voice breaking. "I wouldn't ask if I had any other You're the only one, please, your blood type is the same as Leo's. The hospital has used up all their donors and he really needs a transfusion."
Markos had his hands across his chest, his eyes twinkling like he was happy I was here begging for his help. A stupid smirk on his face.
"Why should I help you, Ecca?" he said slowly, his voice sounding smooth and sarcastic. "Where is the boy's father in all of this?"
I winced. He always found the right place to hurt me, the spot that made me feel vulnerable.
"It's a long story, Markos." I asked and I knew he was thinking his cousin that I had a one night stand with was Leo's father but it wasn't true.
"You're his father ,Markos." I said.
"Oh, I see. I'm now taking another man's responsibility." He said nodding slowly." How cool?"
"Please, now isn't the time for this." I pleaded my voice breaking while he leaned against a pillar in the room staring at me.
"I'll help," he said with a smirk that made me shiver. "But only if you agree to my condition."
My heart raced with anticipation. "I'll do anything to make this deal happen quickly," I hurriedly said without thinking.
"You promise not to tell my wife," he replied, speaking in a low but confident tone. "She shouldn't find out that I'm spending time with another woman, even if it's only temporary."
The words hurt, but I agreed. "Okay. I won't tell her."
"Great," he said, standing up confidently. "Let's finish this now."
I stayed downstairs while Markos got ready slowly. It made me really mad how relaxed he was, like this wasn't a serious situation.
I could hear him upstairs, likely picking out his most expensive clothes.
When he came down stairs, he looked charming in his fancy navy suit and perfectly styled hair.
"You're really dressed up for just going to the hospital," I said sarcastically.
He raised an eyebrow in response. " So should I dress like a maid because I'm helping you?"
I wanted to say something but I thought to myself, holding back a response to avoid upsetting him at the moment.
The drive to the hospital was very annoying.Markos was teasing me a lot and I was his main focus.
"Where is Leonard ( Leo) dad? He should be helping out in times like this, right?" He said sarcastically.
I gripped my bag tightly. "I already said, it's a long story and you're his father."
Markos chuckled quietly. "I really don't remember you saying that you were pregnant before or after our divorce And now you're coming back to me, crawling back begging for my help. What an irony.."
"I'm not crawling back," I said firmly. "I'm seeking hel for my son. Our son."
"This is incredible news." He laughed.
" Leo is your son even though you never really wanted kids then." I said.
"Yup," he said with a little smile. "It's interesting how life turns out, right? Now I might end up helping the kid you decided to have without me."
I looked away and gazed out the window, feeling my chest rise and fall with anger that I was trying to control.
I silently brushed back a tear threatening to roll down. I knew it was hard convincing him that Leo was his child but I know how hurt he was thinking I cheated on him but it wasn't true.
And I wished I could explain
We finally got to the hospital and he parked the car and I immediately jumped down, my heart still racing. I hurriedly walked through the corridor, Markos behind me.
" You should slow down." He chuckled and i felt like slapping him.
We met a nurse and she showed us where to go for blood donation, and I felt hopeful when Markos rolled up his sleeve.
While the nurse got him ready, he looked at me with a sly smile. "You better pay me back for this, Ecca," he said, sounding playful but also a little threatening.
I looked directly at him and stood my ground. "This is the funny , Markos," I said angrily. "You're helping Leo, not me."
He laughed, finding my defiance amusing. "Just keep thinking that, sweetheart."
While we were waiting for the test results to confirm if the blood was a match.I felt the heaviness of the past weighing on me. Crushing me down slowly and I didn't want to think about anything else but Leo.
That little boy was my only hope and joy and if something happens to my little boy I wasn't sure I'll be able to get over it.And it was so annoying for Markos to think he was doing us a favour.
Thinking about all of this made my cheeks burned with humiliation.
The image of me begging Markos drove into my head and I looked away.
"The test will take a little longer." The nurse smiled kindly at me and I gave a small nod.
"So I guess I should take my leave then." Markos said glancing down at his wrist watch.
I said nothing until the nurse left.
"Please just wait a little while longer." I said in a small voice which was barely above a whisper .
" Why?" He barked making me jump." I hate hospitals and the reason why I'm here it's because I'm taking 70% of your salary for this month and the next for all the troubles you have caused me this evening."
My mouth fell wide open."what?" I blinked rapidly, the blood drained from my face. " I thought —"
"Yes, that's because my wife Ophelia has travelled. " He stopped." I have another condition. What if you warm my bed tonight."
The employment Ophelia A mixture of emotions swirled inside Ophelia, excitement, surprise, relief. “What an Irony Ecca,my husband's supposed secretary and EX wife" she said, the sarcasm was obvious. And she let out a small smile. So are you the one In search of a job,she queried. Y-Y-Yes am the one I stuttered.Still in shock,I was still amazed how Ophelia was the employee. As if she was reading my mind. “I know you will be wondering,I don't owe you any explanation though, but let me clear your curiosity. My sweet darling husband gifted me this house on my last birthday.”emphasizing on Darling. My mind navigates to the past beautiful memories. Flash back Good morning damsel, Markos greeted me coming in with a tray of breakfast.I slowly stretched my body on the bed still feeling sore in between my legs as our last night deed flashed in.Good morning baby, I responded flashing him a cute smile, “How was your night, Hope you dreamt about me” He jokingly asked.“Baby, that reminds me when are

I turned to him , my eyes flashing red with anger and I felt like slapping that stupid smirk off his face."Don't be ridiculous."" You're merely overreacting." He said casually."Overreacting?" I asked.Markos moved nearer, his tall figure creating a shadow over me. His gray eyes stared straight into mine, unwavering."Ecca, we used to be married. What's the problem with it? Did you forget how things used to be?"I stopped in my tracks, his words deeply resonating with me. I remembered our turbulent marriage with all its intense moments - romantic nights, lots of fights, and one big mistake. "I don't want to revisit the past, Markos," I told him firmly. He smirked and asked, "If you're not going back memory lane, why did you come here?" "Y

Arrogant MarkosI hurried through the hospital halls, smelling the strong antiseptic. My heels clicking was the only sound I heard as my heart kept pounding. I felt confused and couldn't focus. I stopped a nurse at the desk."Excuse me," I said with a trembling voice, worried about my son, my baby."Where is my son, Leo? He was brought to this hospital after an accident."The nurse gave me a kind look and gestured to a room down the hallway. "Room 312. The doctor is already in there with-" I didn't wait for her to finish talking.I rushed down the hallway and opened the door with my hands and was shocked when I saw him.Leo was lying on the bed, his head and hand heavily bandaged and he was so pale."Mommy." He said his voice barely above a whisper."I'm here, sweetie," I said, quickly going to his side and holding his hand that wasn't hurt. "Mommy is here." A gentle tap on the door caught my attention. A tall man in a white coat, who had a kind but serious look on his face, walk
