SOPHIA

I walked into my charity home’s headquarters and Janet was the first to come up to me with a grin.

“Good morning, ma’am. Trust you had a good night” she said cheerfully and I chuckled as we both walked into my office before I took my coat and hung it on the stand in the corner.

“You seem to be very chatty this morning, Janet. Any good news for me?” I asked her as I took a seat and she sat down too.

“Of course! We’ve been getting good news almost everyday for the past year so this shouldn’t be a surprise,” she quipped and I leaned toward her to hear what had her so excited.

“So. Tell me. What is it this time?” I couldn’t let the curiosity eat me up any longer and her grin grew wider as she opened the book in her hand and pulled out a white envelope.

Then she placed it before me and sending her a questioning look, she gestured her head toward the envelope.

“Come on. Open it” she urged and I took the envelope.

Then I grabbed a table knife and ripped it open and when I pulled its c

  • The comeback of the billionaire heiress    The confrontation

SOPHIADamien's words rang in my head as we both walked to and fro to exchange pleasantries in the venue. The setup was beautiful, the mood was entrancing and the people… they were all so welcoming and nice. Thanks to Damien's little wine that I had back then, it was easier for me to hold conversations without thinking too hard and my fear didn't happen. I didn't get drunk or make a mess of myself like I feared I would.“Here. Have a drink, Sophia. You have done well so far, tonight” Damien told me while handing me a glass of champagne and I started to doubt myself.“Are you sure, Damien? The wine you gave me earlier is still in my system. What if I get drunk and make a scene?” I whispered. All he did was smile before pushing the drink into my hand. Then he placed a hand on my shoulder and smiled.“No you won't. Stop being so scared and enjoy yourself” he whispered too but I still wasn't sure about drinking.“I think I'll just have a glass of water…”“Sophia. The champagne is harmles

  • The comeback of the billionaire heiress    The party

DAMIENEvening came and it was time to pick Sophia up. I dialed her number once I got to her apartment and she was walking out the door less than a minute later.“Hello, Sophia. Are you ready for tonight?” I asked her as she joined me in the car and she nodded.“Sure, Damien. I can't wait to meet new people” she answered and I handed a small glass of wine. Puzzled, she looked at me. I chuckled.“Something to help with your nerves. I know you're a bit nervous” I offered and she shook her head even though her eyes were fixed on the glass of wine.“Oh no. Yes, I'm nervous but I don't think I need to drink…” she didn't get to finish what she was saying as I pushed the glass into her hand and she looked at me.“Just drink the damn wine, Sophia. You'll thank me later” I told her. She nodded and for a moment, I saw her hesitate. Then she inhaled and exhaled, as if to prepare herself. With that, she drank it all in a go and I chuckled in amusement when she groaned from the sharp burn in her c

  • The comeback of the billionaire heiress    A test on loyalty

DAMIEN I wanted to call Elena's plan bluff but I couldn't. I couldn't because I had a great fear that it would pan out the way she'd predicted.Sophia's weakness was Aiden. No matter how much she claimed to want revenge on him, I could tell that she wasn't completely done with her feelings for him. That genuinely pissed me off. He used her and then dumped her. So why didn't she hate him? Why couldn't she get angry at just the mention of his name?I kept questioning the elaborate plan Elena had already set into motion. I tried to think of ways I could stop it from happening the way she wanted but I couldn't come up with anything. There was no way I could stop Aiden from seeing Sophia. He would see her if he wanted to. Especially after receiving those pictures. But what was Sophia going to do if he approached her? What was she going to say to him?I sighed as I pressed my palm against my forehead when the thoughts and questions became too much for me to handle. I didn't want to doub

  • The comeback of the billionaire heiress    The new friend

SOPHIA“We're here, Miss Hale” the driver informed me and I opened my eyes to see we were in front of my apartment. “Thank you” I sat up and grabbed my bag as he got the door for me. Then he pulled my luggage out while I waited and together, we walked to my front door.He handed me my luggage and left and I went in, the silence welcoming me after being away for a few days.I slumped on my chair with a sigh. Then I closed my eyes to rest for a while and the thought of Damien rushing off to meet someone privately came back to me.I opened my eyes to stare at the wall as I wondered who this person he was seeing was and sighing again, I stood up to go to my room.I pushed my luggage into the closet before I left for the bathroom to rinse my face. Then I looked into the mirror and I decided not to think too much about what Damien was up to. If he wanted me to know, he would tell me. But if he doesn't, it would only mean it's either a very private business of his or maybe it's just person

  • The comeback of the billionaire heiress    Elena's plan

DAMIEN“Take me to Hale's Dynasty. Now” I ordered my driver immediately I got into my car and I watched Sophia through the tinted glass as he sped off.It was time to place Elena where she belonged. It took almost an hour to get there and once the car came to a stop, I didn't wait for my driver to get the door. I got out myself and stormed into the building and I didn't have to wait at the front desk. I was led to Elena's office as soon as I introduced myself and I could tell she had been waiting.Elena was seated behind her desk as I walked in and I scoffed when she smiled at me. Her audacity was beginning to disgust me.“It's good to see you again, Damien Locke. The last time we were together still lives in my memory” she giggled and I watched as she slowly got out of her chair. She walked around the desk and stood before me. Then she held her arms akimbo as her smile turned into a smirk.“Go easy on the glare, Damien. Your eyes might just bore a hole through my head the longer you

  • The comeback of the billionaire heiress    Awkward after kiss

SOPHIA I couldn't remember everything from the night before but immediately I woke up, what I could recall was the moment Damien almost kissed me.I didn't think I could bring myself to face him. Was he going to bring it up or not? Or was he going to let it go the way I wished he would? My thoughts were all over the place as I walked to and fro in my room, letting my nerves get the best of me.My head was hurting from drinking too much. The hangover felt like torture. But still, I was too reluctant to step foot outside my room. What exactly was I going to say to him?I groaned as I pulled at my hair in frustration and pain from the hangover and I sighed.“Damn you, Damien. Why did you have to do that?” I whispered and there was suddenly a knock on the door. I gasped in shock.Quickly, I held my hair up in a loose bun to at least good since I hadn't taken a shower. Then I grabbed a long robe closely and wore it over my nightdress. With that, I got to the door and I didn't look at him.
