I kept checking my phone every minute but still, I heard nothing from Damien.

It was finally time for the proposal conference to win the third contract but he was nowhere to be seen.

Our competitors were all present and seated. Except for him.

Soon, the board members walked in and I looked up to find Aiden watching me closely but I quickly looked away because I didn't want to keep eye contact with him.

The last time we spoke to each other was that morning in my kitchen. Inside my apartment. I wanted to say it felt good to hurt him with my words, just the same way he hurt me too.

But a part of me felt guilty.

At the same time, I couldn't bring myself to apologize. I didn't even want to. Because it would mean I was admitting I was wrong and I didn't think I said anything wrong to him that morning.

So he would have to get over it on his own… or chose to not speak to me again. Whatever suited him, I didn't care.
