The Dangerous favour

The afternoon crowd bustled through the convenience store as Aria wandered between the shelves with her phone pressed against her ear.

On the other end of the line, Chloe was practically yelling.

"I'm telling you, Aria, it was a complete disaster! I ran into Adrian... and his grandfather... inside the company elevator!"

Aria stopped walking.

"You ran into the president? On the elevator of all places?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.

"Yes!" Chloe groaned. "Do you have any idea how terrified I was? I thought my heart was going to stop."

Aria sighed heavily.

"This situation is getting out of hand."

"It is," Chloe replied. "Please meet Adrian as soon as possible and clear everything up. The longer we wait, the worse it'll become."

There was a long silence before Aria finally answered.

"Okay... fine. Don't worry. I'll handle it."

"I hope so."

The call ended.

Aria lowered her phone and stared into space.

"Things are really not looking good," she murmured.

She turned to leave the store, but before taking another step, something crashed into her legs.

A little girl had been running across the floor and bumped into her.

"Oh my God!" Aria gasped, immediately kneeling down. "Sweetheart, are you okay?"

The child looked startled but wasn't hurt.

A woman hurried over and gently pulled her daughter behind her.

"I'm so sorry," the mother apologized. "I've told her countless times not to run around stores."

"No, it's alright," Aria replied with a warm smile. "Kids will always be kids."

The woman thanked her before leading the little girl away.

Shaking off the encounter, Aria stepped outside.

After only a few steps, her smile disappeared.

Her hand flew to her handbag.

Her wallet.

It was gone.

"My wallet..." she whispered.

Panic flooded her face.

"Oh no! My keys and wallet!"

Without another thought, she turned and ran back into the convenience store.

Her eyes searched desperately through the aisles while her feet carried her forward at full speed.

Then—

Bang!

She collided with someone so hard that her drink slipped from her hand and splashed across the floor.

"Oh! I'm so sorry!" Aria exclaimed, bending quickly to pick it up.

A pair of polished black shoes stopped in front of her.

"It's okay."

The calm male voice made her lift her head.

The moment their eyes met, everything around her seemed to fade away.

The man was breathtaking.

Tall. Handsome. Perfectly dressed in a fitted black suit. His sharp features and composed expression gave him an effortless charm.

Aria forgot how to breathe.

Oh my God...

He's handsome as hell.

He's absolutely gorgeous.

I think I've just found the love of my life.

She remained frozen, staring openly at him.

The stranger raised an eyebrow, amused by her silence.

"Are you alright?" he asked again.

His voice snapped her back to reality.

"Oh! Y-Yes... I'm sorry."

A faint smile appeared on his lips.

"It's no problem."

He handed her the drink she had dropped and walked away without another word.

Aria slowly turned around, unable to stop herself from watching him leave.

A silly smile spread across her face.

She had no idea that the handsome stranger was Ethan Cole—Adrian Blake's personal secretary.

And Ethan had no idea why he found himself glancing back at the beautiful girl before disappearing into the crowd.

Aria's phone rang again.

She frowned at the unknown number before answering.

"Hello? Who is this?"

"It's Adrian Blake."

Her eyes widened.

The president?

Before she could even respond, Adrian spoke in his usual cold tone.

"I want to meet you. Do you have time today?"

The call ended immediately.

Aria stared at her phone in disbelief.

"He hung up?"

Still shaken, she hurried to a nearby coffee shop and called Chloe.

A few minutes later, Chloe arrived.

"What happened? You sounded so serious."

Aria took a deep breath.

"Adrian just called me."

Chloe nearly spilled her coffee.

"What? President Adrian wants to meet you?"

"Yes. He asked if I was free today."

Chloe smiled excitedly.

"That's great! You can finally meet him and tell him the truth."

Aria immediately shook her head.

"My dear friend... could you go instead of me?"

Chloe stared at her.

"You must be crazy."

"Please."

"I have an important meeting today."

"Still?" Aria asked hopefully.

Chloe folded her arms.

"How can I go in your place? What if I get caught?"

"Just tell him you don't like him," Aria pleaded. "Tell him you won't marry him. Say no clearly and leave."

Chloe sighed.

"This is a terrible idea."

Aria reached for her hand.

"Please go. I won't beg you again."

The desperation in Aria's voice softened Chloe's heart.

After a long moment, Chloe finally nodded.

"Fine. But this is the very last time I'm doing this for you."

Relief washed over Aria's face as she hugged her best friend tightly.

Neither of them realized that Chloe's decision would lead her straight into Adrian Blake's world... and change both of their lives forever.

  • The contract Bride of The Ruthless CEO    The Fake Dating Deal

The moment Ethan closed the door behind him, Adrian's grandfather turned and walked away without another word, heading straight back to his study. Adrian remained seated, staring at the folder in front of him. It was the file of blind date candidates. "President Adrian." Ethan dropped the file onto the desk with a sigh. "How could you tell a lie like that when you don't even have a woman you're marrying? How are you going to get out of this one?" Adrian's jaw tightened. "What do you expect me to do? I'm going to call the person responsible and make her take responsibility for it." He pulled out his phone and dialed Chloe's number. Chloe was sitting at her desk in the department office when her phone lit up. The moment she saw the caller ID, she frowned. "What is this? I already apologized and settled the whole thing. So annoying." She took a deep breath before answering. "Hello?" Adrian didn't waste a second on greetings. "Let's meet after you get off work." "What? Why? I'm

  • The contract Bride of The Ruthless CEO    Caught in His Own Lie

Adrian sat in his top-floor office, scrolling through the production system with a tense, distracted energy. He barely registered the soft rustle of footsteps until Ethan, his secretary, appeared in the doorway. "You asked for me," Ethan said, raising a hand in a quiet wave as he stepped inside. "Yes." Adrian kept his eyes glued to the screen. "The production line in Africa... when are we restarting the second line?" "It'll take at least a week to finish the replacement work," Ethan replied. He glanced down at his tablet before adding, "And today's Mr. Dylan's first day, isn't it? James's replacement?" "Let's have lunch with him today," Adrian said, his mind already racing ahead to the next item on his agenda. Ethan hesitated, adjusting his posture. "Actually... your schedule has changed. Starting from lunch today." Adrian looked up, caught completely off guard. "What? What do you mean?" "The order came directly from the Chairman." Ethan braced himself. "He's scheduled a series

  • The contract Bride of The Ruthless CEO    The 4 A.M. Call.

Adrian sat in the living room, half-watching the morning coverage of the company's ongoing food project scroll across the international news. An ad break cut in. "This early morning, I told them to mind the scheduling," he muttered, and flicked the channel over to something else—an animal documentary, as it turned out, about apes. The word alone was enough to set something off in him. It circled back, unbidden, to Chloe's parting remark the night before. "Freaking ape, my foot." He pressed his palms into his face, exhaled hard, then reached for his phone and dialed her number without giving himself time to reconsider. Chloe was fast asleep. The ringing dragged her halfway out of it, and she fumbled for her phone before pressing it to her ear. "Hello?" she mumbled, her voice thick with sleep. "Ms. Stephanie?" "What's she saying? Why is anyone prank-calling at this hour?" Adrian asked, not realizing she'd mistaken him for someone else. "It's not a prank call," he said. "Are you

  • The contract Bride of The Ruthless CEO    Borrowed Names

Adrian's grandfather sat in the sitting room, thoroughly absorbed in his favorite show. He laughed out loud at something on screen, munching contentedly on a snack, the picture of a man enjoying a quiet evening at home. "I'm home," Adrian announced, stepping through the door. His grandfather didn't so much as glance away from the television. "So, did everything go well with Ms. Aria?" he asked between bites. "What about the wedding? Both of our families should meet first, alright?" He pushed himself up from the sofa, finally giving Adrian his attention. "I've decided not to marry Ms. Aria," Adrian said quietly. His grandfather's expression shifted at once, his voice climbing. "What? What do you mean by that?" "Please," Adrian said, holding up a hand. "Don't bring it up right now. I'd rather not talk about what happened." Across town, Chloe was walking home after the date, her mind snagged on one small, nagging detail. The name Aria had given Adrian's grandfather—Stephanie. Why

  • The contract Bride of The Ruthless CEO    The Truth, Another Lie

Chloe and Aria arrived at the restaurant and were shown to their seats. Chloe still didn't know why she'd been dragged along, but she'd learned not to ask. She pulled out her phone. "Hey, look this way." They leaned in and struck a pose for the camera. "Are you sure that salon is really the one all the celebrities use?" Chloe asked, studying the photo. "Look how heavy this makeup is." Aria winced. "That's because I asked them to do it that way." She didn't mention that she'd planned all along to bring Chloe to Adrian without telling her. "What's that supposed to mean?" Chloe asked warily. Aria's phone buzzed. She snatched it up before the sound had even finished. "Chloe. Listen to me carefully. President Adrian is on his way here." "What? Who's coming?" Chloe's voice cracked. "I didn't have a choice. He found out we were friends and insisted on meeting you," Aria said. "Then you should have pretended you didn't know me!" "He said he'd find out on his own eventual

  • The contract Bride of The Ruthless CEO     A Promise of Revenge

Chloe paced her room, filled with anxiety because Aria had not responded regarding the blind date with Adrian. "Why isn't she answering my texts?" she wondered aloud. Her phone buzzed with an incoming text from Aria. Aria: Handled. Don't worry. It's all good now. Chloe let out a heavy breath of relief, reading the text once more. "Thank God," she muttered softly. Meanwhile, Aria was gripping her steering wheel tightly, her hands aching from the strain as she fumed over Adrian's temper. "This is driving me crazy. What did he even expect me to do?" she yelled to herself in the quiet vehicle. Ethan walked into his apartment, convinced a break-in had occurred because the space was unexpectedly clean. He was right. Adrian was sitting inside, waiting for him. "You're back," Adrian stated plainly. Ethan ignored the remark and placed his grocery bags on the counter. "Please, leave my house alone." "How am I supposed to leave it alone?" Adrian replied, standing up and grabbing a br
