“What punishment?”

The question kept replaying in my head as the car moved steadily through the quiet road leading to the mansion.

It didn’t stop.

It didn’t slow.

It just kept echoing.

“What punishment?”

I tightened my grip on my bag, staring out the window as the familiar stretch of trees passed by. The silence of that road felt different tonight, heavier… like it knew something I didn’t.

“Why is he being nice?” I muttered under my breath.
