Megan squeezed hard on the divorce papers Greg threw at her. She looked at it sorrowfully to see that it had already been signed by him.
She always knew Greg had little or no feelings for her. He had married her immediately after he broke up with Elizabeth. And now that she thinks of it, it seems he married her just to spite Elizabeth and make her come back to him.
Megan gazed into the direction of the window with disbelief evidenced in her beautiful green eyes. While Greg stood in the glow of the evening, petting Elizabeth and whispering sweet nothing to her.
They seemed so perfect for each other, as their features complemented one another.
“I've signed the papers. You should also sign them so that we can finalise the divorce at City Hall tomorrow”. Greg said without taking his eyes off Elizabeth, who was still crying.
“Since we didn't have any prenuptial agreement, there won't be any delay in finalising the divorce”.
Megan was speechless. “Does your mother know about this?”
“She does, and even if she doesn't, her opinion does not affect my decision”. He replied.
Megan's fragile body shook, so she could only hug her body tightly to stabilise herself as hot tears poured down her face. Yes, he cheated on her, but she couldn't help but ask. “Can we not divorce, Greg?”.
Her question agitated Elizabeth, as her facial expression changed woefully. Megan was such a fool to think that Greg would change his mind. He was hers and hers forever.
He pursed his lips and narrowed his dark and intimidating eyes at Megan as he asked, “why?”
“Because I love you”. She blurted out shakingly.
Megan's eyes were red rimmed, “Greg I love you and I still want to remain your wife even if you don't have feelings for me….”
“I've had enough of this woman”, Greg, cut her off with a disgusted face. “A marriage without love is torture, and that is exactly what I feel with you”.
“You know that our marriage was a mistake and I married you at my lowest point in life”. He said with mixed emotions.
Elizabeth was thrilled, she just loved the pain she saw in Megan’s eyes.
Megan lowered her head in dejection as she listened to his cruel words. He did not only cheat on her but also hated her guts.
She had sacrificed so much for Greg before and during their marriage, and in the end he only thought of her as torture.
“I will sign the papers”. She smiled wryly as she shook her head in dejection. It was time to free him of this imprisonment so that he can finally be with the one that he loves.
So She took the papers and signed them carefully.
Elizabeth eyebrows shot upwards in curiosity; she didn't expect her to sign the papers so easily. She walked hurriedly to hug her. “Oh, thank you so much Megan for signing the papers”. Her voice quivered as if she was sad.
But before she could even think of anything, Elizabeth landed on hard floors, making it seem like it was Megan who threw her away.
“Why did you push her, Megan, why are you so vicious”? Greg seethed blindly.
“Just because I love her and not you, that doesn't mean you can hurt her. I don't fucking love you and that is it”.
“It's not her fault, Greg”. Elizabeth, whose face was red, interrupted. “If I were her, I will react the same way”, she said in a whisper loud enough for both of them to hear
Megan felt the urge to applaud her, she was playing the pity card so well that she herself is actually questioning who the victim is.
“Please get up, baby. Greg said as he knelt down to pick up Elizabeth with a calm and loving expression. You know it's not good for the……” he whispered the rest of the words into her ear.
Elizabeth stood up into Greg's arms, confiding in him as she smirked inwardly at Megan.
“Please ask her to forgive me”. She pouted with a fake sense of abandonment. But before Greg could reply to her. The door to the room creaked, revealing Mrs. Wilson.
“Hasn't she signed the papers yet?” Mrs. Wilson's lips raised scornfully.
“She has. And we are going to finalise the divorce tomorrow at city hall”. Greg replied.
“Finally, Mrs. Wilson screamed in elation. Her son can finally settle with Elizabeth and not that scumbag of a girl.
So this was the reason Mrs. Wilson has been behaving strangely. She has been buying time for the both of them.
“Megan, you are going to leave right”. Mrs. Wilson scoffed.
“I will take my leave”, Megan replied subtly. There was no use staying with a bunch of betrayers.
“Where are you going to go?”. Greg was surprised that she actually agreed to leave; he knew that she had no one, and she was an orphan who came from a small town.
“Wherever I go is not your business, Greg”. Megan retorted.
Greg felt weird. It was a feeling he couldn't explain. Where was she going to go, and why did she seem like the divorce didn't affect her?
“Don't go Meg”. Elizabeth begged, trying to make a good impression on Mrs. Wilson.
But Megan would be dead if she believed her, so she ignored her plea and walked towards the door.
What a nice person Elizabeth was, how could she still be nice to someone who stole Greg from her in the first place? Mrs. Wilson thought.
As she walked past. Mrs. Wilson noticed the necklace on Megan, it was an expensive model which only one of its kind existed. There were rumours about the only heiress of the song family owning it.
How could it be on Megan's neck? “Come here”. She dragged her, yanking her backwards.
“Who… gave you that necklace”. Her tone was laced with incredulity.
Megan looked down at her neck, this was a gift from her late mother.
“I don't think you should ask such questions, Monica”. Megan called her by her maiden name, making her gasp at her disrespect.
Mrs. Wilson’s lips trembled in speechlessness as Megan yanked her arm away from her and went out of the

Megan was now left alone outside the Wilson mansion with a feeling of melancholy as She picked up her phone, dialling a number. “Come pick me up”, she said and hung up with no emotions.
She had left without taking a pin except for the clothes she wore, she would rather not have anything that would remind her of this place.
Elizabeth peeps down the window at Megan. She couldn't just place what was happening. This was not the reaction she expected off Megan.
She wanted her to wail and beg for mercy. But what does it matter? What was coming for her was beyond her powers, Elizabeth thought with a smirk, “Oh meg, if only you know what awaits you”. She said loudly.
This was probably the last time Meg would be a nuisance to her. She raised her hands to wave goodbye at Meg, mockingly.
However, her hands froze in the air as a black expensive Rolls-Royce parked in front of Megan.
Who was that? Elizabeth thought to herself. She knew that Megan didn't have any family, and definitely she didn't know anyone influential.
If so, How is it that Megan is entering that car? The image made her blood boil in anger.
In the back row of the roll Royce, Enzo, the eldest son of the prestigious song family, gently held Megan's hands.
“Your eldest brother prepared a very sumptuous meal for you to celebrate your return”.
“I'm not really in the mood to eat, Enzo”. Megan said meekly.
Megan resumed her identity as Margaret song. The heiress of the song family. She leaned on her elder brother's shoulder and burst into tears.
“What? Do you still miss him after everything he has done to you?” Enzo hugged his sister in distress.
“ Enzo, today is my birthday ”.
“I know, he is such a jerk to choose today of all days to break your heart”.
“That is why I have no regrets. Megan Smith is dead”. Megan said.
As she opened her eyes, she was no longer Megan Smith. The dutiful wife of Greg, she was now Margaret Song the proud heiress of the m&k group. This time, her life would no longer revolve around a man.
“I am over him. I will be damned if I ever go back. She said in a low voice.
The journey to the mansion sailed smoothly on the well tiled road, and Megan could not help but think about her life.
It was better she stepped up. She thought silently until the car suddenly came to an abrupt stop.
Fuck. Enzo cursed under his breath as his body came forward due to the sudden stop.
“Wh
at happened”. He questioned the driver, whose body shook like someone suffering from rigour.
“Sir… We have been surrounded by the police”.
Mr. Leonard’s footsteps echoed softly as he descended the stairs, his eyes were dull as he scanned the room. Alex, Megan, Enzo, and Loyd stood, all eyes on him. Jake clung to his mother's side, his small hand gripping hers tightly."Jake," Leonard said softly, stepping forward with a smile. “You look so much like your mother.” Megan swallowed, her lips pressed tightly together, but she didn’t respond. Her grip on Jake’s hand tightened as Leonard reached out to touch the boy’s face. Jake smiled a little but moved behind his mother to hide. He knew Grandpa hurt mum, so he was also angry.Leonard’s hand dropped slowly, hurt. “Maybe I deserve that,” he murmured, sighing as he pulled back. Enzo cleared his throat as dinner was served and they all moved to the table, sitting in silence as the sound of cutlery clinking on dishes became the only noise. After a long pause, Leonard cleared his throat and looked up at his children. “I know I wasn’t a good father.”Loyd scoffed, muttering under
Two years later.Things may have seemed like they will never go back to normal for Megan, it was from one trouble to another bigger one. However it says with trouble comes ease.Megan stood in front of the crystal like window as she admired the light blue sky. How she wishes she could just stand here forever. As it reminded her of her better and bad Days.“Mummy, we are going to be late, daddy is waiting”. Little Jake, who was not so little anymore, bugged his mother with his sharp and piercing tone.Yes, Megan and Alex got married last year and they have been happy together. You might wonder what happened to Evelyn and Brittany. Well Evelyn was dead obviously. However Brittany's life never remained the same. She got depressed and started taking drugs, Mr Leonard still considered her his daughter so he sent her to rehab.“Oh, baby, Megan's face lit up with a smile. How she loved this little boy. Mummy is done already, let's go”. She grabbed onto his hands and moved towards the living
Life can be unpredictable right. Evelyn was still dazed, it felt as though her legs couldn't move.“No,no that is not true, she sniffed hard. It's not true. He died, I was winning and all of you were my puppets, everything was going according to my grand plan”. She kept emphasising on her words while pointing at Leonard.“Shut up woman, he interjected. I was never dead even if you did everything possible to get me out of the way. I heard the things you said to me while I was unconscious”.Evelyn gasped for the upteenth time. “How is this possible?” However instead of feeling remorse for her evil activities, she felt nothing but anger. It brewed slowly inside of her that it made her burst.“It's all your fucking fault. Did you think after how you betrayed me I will just let you into my life again. I accepted you because of your wealth and what you had to offer to our daughter”.“And I killed your wife to make sure nothing gets in my way again but your stupid witch of a daughter just ha
Brittany was feeling feverish, a feeling that what she was doing wasn't good. However her urge to have Alex just to herself was even greater.“It's too bad we have to get separated in this way, Meg”. Evelyn whispered to Megan as she finally cocked her gun and pointed it at her.“Please, Megan begged weakly. I will go far away with my son and never return”. Jake was the only person she could think of at that moment. She needed to keep him away from harm.“It's too late darling, Evelyn sucked her lips showing false sympathy. You should have disappeared when you had the chance”. She said with a glint in her eyes.“Don't worry meg, Brittany is going to take care of him and Alex”. Evelyn pointed the gun at Megan, this time with the intent of pulling the trigger. She has said all that needed to be said. While Brittany watched with mixed feelings.Everything seemed to be in slow motion to Megan. The moment felt like an eternity. The air grew thick and heavy, pressing against her chest, maki
The fear in Megan's heart was sharp, her pulse quickening as Evelyn stood over her, gun in hand, her expression twisted with a mixture of anger and satisfaction.Brittany stood nearby, her posture tense, her face a mask of conflicting emotions. Megan could see the hesitation in her sister’s eyes, a flicker of uncertainty that was an opposite of the cold malice she had shown earlier. But there was no time to dwell on it. Not with Evelyn so close, her finger poised on the trigger.“Stay out of this, Brittany,” Evelyn snapped, her voice hard and cold. “You’re just as stupid as Sonia was, and that’s why she’s dead.”Evelyn’s words cut through the air like a knife, and Megan’s heart lurched. She looked at the woman closely, wondering if she'd just misheard. Did she just admit to knowing about her mother's death? “What do you know about my mother's death? Megan asked with a shaky voice. She watched as Evelyn struggled to maintain her composure, her hand shaking slightly as she pressed the
consciousness crept back into her mind. The pounding in her head was unbearable, a dull ache that intensified when she tried to open her eyes. “Damn," she hissed as the migraine hit her in full force. She felt like her head was splitting in half and she couldn't even help it. “Where am I?" She muttered as she turned. She blinked several times, trying to adjust to the dim light filtering through the room. It was then that the cold, hard reality hit her—she was tied tightly to a chair, her wrists and ankles bound with rough rope that dug into her skin.Panic surged through her, and she instinctively began to struggle against her restraints. The chair creaked under the force of her movements, but the ropes held firm. “Who is here! Help me!" She called out, wiggling. Panicked, she glanced around her, the memories of what had just happened assailed her. Someone had grabbed her from behind and she'd passed out with the pungent smell forced in her face. She'd been drugged and now she was
Megan shivered, she had a bad feeling that her sister, Brittany had done something crazy. Why else was she calling just when she couldn't find her son and then she was laughing like a psychopath. “Brittany?" She called out over the phone, standing in the living room and shivering in her shoes. “I guess you're home by now, because I know that you wouldn't have answered my call otherwise," she said with a casual tone. “Why are you calling?" Megan asked carefully. She had a bad feeling in her guts that Brittany's call wasn't just a coincidence. “You know why I'm calling, Megan, don't play dumb with me," Brittany replied with a stiff tone. Megan sighed, taking deep breaths to steady herself. She was already trembling and she couldn't find her voice. "Brittany, what is this about?” She asked, already losing her patience. The anxiety was killing her and clearly Brittany was trying to mess with her head. How on earth did she know that she'd just gotten home? And what did that have to do
Brittany stood in the doorway, a forced smile plastered on her face as she gazed at her nephew, Jake. She had a sly smile on her face. How lucky she was, as if everything in nature was just sending her a sign. Her mother's plan would work out smoothly. “Hey little boy," she said with a sugary tone. But Jake just looked up from his painting and gazed at her blankly without saying a word, his eyes almost bored. “Come on, won't you say hello to your aunty?" Brittany tried again with an even more sweet voice but inwardly she was rolling her eyes. “No," Jake gave a single monotonous reply and didn't bother explaining himself, he just picked up his crayons and continued stroking each color across his white paper. Brittany sneered as he turned his face away, he was indeed a miniature version of his mother, Megan, with the same piercing blue eyes and mischievous grin. It was almost like he was staring at Megan's younger self right there on the couch. "Oh, Jake, I'm sure you don't really
Brittany paced back and forth in the fancy little cafe. She couldn't help the anxiety and anger that she felt. The thought of them made her nauseous. “She is in there with him as we speak!" She said and drummed her fingers on the table again. Evelyn had a very calm look on her face. But then that was typical. She wasn't easily ruffled, she always had a plan for everything and that was exactly why her daughter trusted her to find a solution. “Calm down, Brittany, anger never solved anything, what you need to do is plan," she advised. Brittany was exasperated, she hissed, “Calm? How can I possibly be calm right now?" She asked, spreading her arms. “She is with my husband and he won't even allow me see him, he told me to stay out of his way." Smiling, Evelyn waved it all off like it didn't matter. “Come on, Alex is just licking his wounds. You should allow him to do that.” She replied. "I don't know how long that will last for and frankly I don't wish to find out. All I know is that
