Landing on Earth

Little Zane kept staring at his father's dead body. He felt like screaming but he was frozen and stayed where he was, hidden in the shadows.

"ZANE?!"shouted a voice, it was his mother,"Zane are you alright?! Did they hurt you too?! What is going on?!"

"Mother, my father is dead. Prince Alfred shot him with a silver arrow in the heart",blurted out Zane, with moisture in his eyes.

His mother knelt down infront of him and said,"Don't worry son, you will be alright. I will protect you till my last breath. I won't let those Vampires hurt you! Come with me"

His mother tried to pull him towards the corridor but he didn't move and said,"Mother, will father not come back ever again?!"

Zane's mother said,"No son. He cannot come back, but come with me, I will protect you!"

Zane saw his mother's face didnot shine as it used to , when the moon's light fell on her face. Her face was pale and oddly white.

Zane gasped and said,"NO! YOU ARE NOT MY MOTHER!"

Zane pulled himself away from her grasp and took out a knife from his belt.

"You are a smart boy",said his mother, changing her form. It was not his mother, a vampire had taken her form so that he could decieve Zane and trick him into coming with him.

"Where is my mother?!",he shouted

"I don't know", replied the tall vampire,"Prince Alfred sent me to fetch you to him so that he could kill you with his bare hands."

"Don't even touch me",said Zane holding his lead knife.

As the vampire approached him, Zane attacked him with his knife and it hit the vampire in the neck.

"A LEAD KNIFE?!", shrieked the vampire.

Lead was fatal to the Vampires of Pamlivam.

As the vampire prepared to attack him again. A greyish black wolf jumped at the vampire and wrestled him to the ground , the Vampire was taken by surprise which was an advantage for the wolf as it ripped it's head out from his body.

Zane stared at amazement at his saviour. The wolf looked at Zane and changed form. It was his mother , she came running towards Zane.

"Are you alright Zane?!",she asked

"Mother is it really you?!",asked Zane

"Yes yes child!",she said,"It's really me, what happened ?!"

"Mother,.... father is dead",Zane said

His mother had tears in her eyes and she said,"I know....I saw his body, and I seek revenge for his death, Prince Alfred killed him. And, they are killing our kind, our warriors are fighting but they cannot hold the Vampires for long. The day that your father feared, has come"

"My father feared this day?",asked Zane

"Yes",said his mother wiping her tears,"Your father…he was an Alpha...and he always said that one day the Vampires would deceive us . He knew that one day they would plan to finish our kind but he didn't know that it was going to be this soon"

"If he knew then why didn't he do something?!",cried Zane

His mother's eyes sadly wandered over his' and she said,"There was nothing to be done"

"What are we going to do now mother? I am scared!",said Zane

"Don't be Zane! You are going to be fine, come with me!",said his mother leading him to the other room.

"Where are we going ?",Zane asked

"The transportation room", replied his mother.

His mother led him to another room and she tapped on the ground and said,"O great ancestors! Rise and guide my son to safety for the sake of our kind."

A big brown transparent box appeared from below the ground

"Get in there",said his mother,with tears in her eyes.

"What is that?",Zane asked curiously

"This is not a time for curiosity Zane! Get in there! The Salvern Fire is approaching the palace, you need to get out of here quickly!",said his mother, wiping her tears and sobbing.

"But where will I go if I get in there?!",he asked.

His mother knelt infront of him, her eyes red from crying and she said,"Look son, all your father and I ever wanted is to keep you safe no matter what, this Belk box here, it's a transportation system, it will transport you to ....to ...Earth, its the planet of humans. You will be safe there, you will stay there in your human form, and try not to transform into your wolf form infront of them, humans can be cruel but you won't be able to control your transformation always once a month"

Zane was speechless, he stared his mother blankly and then said,"But.why? and .....you are coming with me, right?!"

His mother shook her head and said,"No, I can't come. This portal box has power enough to transport just one werewolf to Earth. I can't come"

Zane shook his head and shouted,"NO! I WONT GO WITHOUT YOU! ALL THOSE WEREWOLVES OUT THERE FIGHTING! THEY ARE GOING TO DIE!"

"Yes son",said his mother,"All of us are going to die, but you will survive this. Prince Alfred wants to kill you because you are the next heir of this kingdom and he won't be able to take over this kingdom unless you are dead, it is a custom and it's also the custom that a prince can't kill another prince without challenging him to fight , he is going to want to fight with you but you are too young, you will lose and he will slay you. Go to Earth, they won't find you there!"

"I WON'T! I CANT GO AND LIVE KNOWING YOU ALL DIED TO SAVE ME!", shrieked Zane

"I am sorry",said his mother

"Sorry for what?",asked Zane

"Sorry for this",she said, and opened the Belk box and forced Zane inside.

"NO! MOTHER YOU CANT FORCE ME TO LEAVE! PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME!",cried Zane

"You have to",said his mother

His mother then took out a locket from her pocket and handed it to him and said,"This is the last gift from your mother"

"Mom don't",said Zane, crying out loud

His mother closed the box and waved at him and said,"Carry on our legacy, make your father and me proud"

"I CANT LIVE WITHOUT YOU!",shouted Zane

"You won't have to!",said his mother,"We will live in the stars. We will live forever in your heart son"

And a voice said,"Portal ready to go. Destination, Earth. On ten, nine, eight-"

"MOTHER STOP IT PLEASE!", screamed Zane , punching on the glass, he tried turning in a wolf and banging on the glass but that didn't work either.

"Bye son",said his mother waving at him.

The last thing Zane saw before the box took off, was his mother waving at him with tears in her eyes. And the next thing was that he found himself in the space. He spotted his planet but it was far far away and the box was drifting away, further away from Byrandan.

Zane passed out. The next time when he opened his eyes , he saw land below. He had reached Earth. It looked like a forest. The box landed and it opened.

Zane got out quickly and shook the box and said,"Please, please go back! Please go back to my planet and rescue my mother and other people too! They are going to die!"

There were many buttons on that, Zane tried all of them but unfortunately for him, the box didn't respond.

He cried but the box didn't budge.

And finally a voice came,"Self-destruction mode enabled. Please move away from the Belk box. Self destruction in five, four , three-"

Zane, by mistake had pushed the self-destruction button and he hesitantly moved away from the box and the box exploded , leaving nothing but ashes ,smoke and fire behind.

"No no no no, this was my only hope, please please! I need to save my mother!", screamed Zane

But nothing happened, and he crouched there in the middle of the forest, holding his mother's locket and his silver knife, crying loudly. He cried and cried and then he turned into a black wolf with white streaks and he howled sadly. He howled with the wind.
