Mag-log inAria’s POV:
I drove around town for more than an hour listening to Taylor Swift’s Anti-Hero on repeat. I just needed to cool off for a while.
Especially after I received a call from my lawyer, I had a court case tomorrow all because Caleb refused to sign the divorce papers, and honestly, now that I know I am the problem; it makes me wonder if I really need a divorce.
I drove onto the estate, parked the car at the entrance and was surprised to find Ava. She stood there with two bottles of wine. “Why are you here?” I asked, Didn’t I leave them back at the restaurant?
“Let’s have a drink,” she suggested, and I nodded, unlocked the door before we got in, and sat in the living room, Ava filled two glasses with wine and shoved one to me.
“I didn’t want to ask this earlier because Sam was present, but…” Ava started, she swallowed hard and cleared her throat.
“That day I picked you up, and you had a man’s shirt, was it Liam Styles’s?”
I sighed heavily and sipped the wine, nodded lightly and waited for her to scold me for sleeping with another man when I was still married or to judge me for being fake, for preaching loyalty while I was willing to give myself to another man.
“Did he take advantage of you?” 'She asked, and I shook my head in denial. I was very much conscious when it happened.'
“It’s not worth talking about it. I am sure he doesn’t remember much,” I stated and gulped down the entire content in the glass and had her refill it.
“I pushed Caleb to his limits. I expected so much from him, and that’s what pushed him to find solace in another woman’s arms,” I explained as a tear rolled down my cheeks. I kept staring at my glass before sniffing my tears.
“What right do I even have to ask for a divorce?”
“Aria Nicole,” Ava called. My gaze moved to hers, and she had a frown.
“What are you trying to say? You won’t go through with the divorce?” Her voice was stern as she stared at me anxiously, even when she already knew my reply.
“Fine, you wrote some books about having the perfect marriage, so what? Are you the first author to publish such?”
Then she stood up and sat closer to me. “I am not trying to tell you what to do, but think about this: a lot of people are looking up to you…They want to know what Aria Nicole will do after being cheated on. There are a lot of couples like you, and they need a way out. They are waiting for you to make a move so they can copy… Have you ever thought of that?”
I nodded. I knew I had a dominant influence on the public, especially women… They control their homes according to my advice, they thought I had the perfect marriage, and the funny part is, I also thought the same.
“If you think wives should give their husbands a second chance after such an act, then go on and do what you wish, the choice is yours,” she concluded and refilled my glass.
We kept drinking in silence; no one uttered a word…
Suddenly it was raining, the liquids hitting hard on my roof.. it reminded me of five years ago, the day Caleb went on one knee to propose, but the proposal was ruined when it started raining.
At that moment I thought it was a sign, the rain was blessing my proposal, but maybe it was a warning.
-
“Aria…Aria,” I heard someone calling, slowly opened my eyes and found Ava and Mira, my lawyer, staring down at me.
“Hey.” I gripped my hair and sat up. I had slept off in the living room on the ground, and now my body hurt.
Ava also gripped her head, and I could tell she was suffering from a hangover just like me.
“Please have this and get dressed up for the court session.” Mira shoved a glass and pills to me. I quickly drank the pills and sighed heavily.
“What time is it?” I yawned and glanced at the big clock on the wall.
“It’s 9:23, and the session starts at 10, so please hurry up.” Mira urged, and I lazily dragged my body upstairs, stumbled into the bathroom, stood below the shower and let the cold water fall on me, making my bones creak.
Once I was done, I walked to the bedroom with a towel tied around me. I flinched when I noticed Ava rummaging through my closet.
“You scared me,” I pouted and kept drying my hair.
“Here, put this on. The public will be present, and you need to look okay; show them you are not some pitiful wife.” She smiled, and I nodded appreciatively and didn’t get the chance to thank her as she jumped on my bed and fell asleep. Guess she wasn’t coming to court with me.
After I was dressed in the long white trousers with its matching jacket, I held my hair in a tight bun, wore my heels and hurried downstairs, got into the car with my lawyer, who drove away.
This was the first time using her as a lawyer. Caleb was always my lawyer, especially for my businesses, and now I doubt if I want to continue working with him.
“Mr Thompson plans to make the court believe that your marriage wasn’t working out and Olivia seduced him, so he fell into temptation and wants to make it up to you.. he doesn’t want a divorce,” she explained, and I nodded while staring out of the window.
“So how about you lie to the court that your marriage was perfect, and you both didn’t have any arguments?” She asked, and I chuckled. Lie to the court? That was the truth, we never argued, and he never approached me about putting much pressure on him.
We finally arrived at the courthouse. I stepped down with Mira before me. The guards were quick to block the journalists and also the youth who hurried towards me.
“Aria Nicole, what outcome are you expecting today? Do you plan to leave him? Snatch his properties and all?”
“Or will there be a reconciliation?”
“We are all waiting for your decision.”
They kept yelling from the crowd. I followed Mira, and we were finally away from the crowd.
“Do you still plan on going through with the divorce?” Mira asked, and I stared at her confused. Why would she ask me that suddenly? Wasn’t that the reason we were here?
But I understood why she asked because right now I was going through a debate with my mind.
Before the courtroom were Caleb and his lawyer, he quickly approached me. “Aria, baby, can we please solve this out of court?” He pleaded and held my hand before kissing it.
“You know it; you know I love you, so please don’t do this to me.”
I stared at Mira, who had looked away. “You know why I can’t have a kid, you were there, so why did you say that to me?” I questioned and sobbed heavily. He told me he didn’t mind not having a child as long as we were together, so why would he suddenly blame my womb?
“I was crazy and said that; please forgive me.” He folded his hands in a plea.
I sniffed my tears, retracted a tissue and dabbed it on my face before breathing heavily. “I don’t hold anything against you because you were right about one thing: only a man like you could love a woman like me, and if I leave you, I will get old alone.”
He nodded and rubbed my cheeks. “I love you. I love you so much…”
I slowly pushed his hand away and stepped into the courtroom with Mira. The hall was filled with few people, but I was surprised to find Liam Styles.
He sat on the last row, dressed in a black suit, and kept staring at me… What the f*ck was he doing at my court session?
Aria’s POV:I ignored Jay’s calls and hurried to my car and drove away; my phone rang.Checked the caller, and it was Ava. “Hey?”“Snitch, you had breakfast with Jay and didn’t even let me know.”I sighed heavily. “I am not in the mood, Ava.”“What happened? Did he hurt you?” She asked, and I sighed heavily; I shouldn’t be angry.I should be calm and handle things carefully.“No, so did Jay tell you we had breakfast?” I inquired because how did she know?“It’s all over social media; now everyone is wondering who exactly you are dating, Liam Styles or Jay Kings,” she explained, and I smacked my lips; it was that kid.“What does Liam have to say about it?” she added, and my brows furrowed; I heard her clearly but couldn’t understand her question. What does he have to say?“His girlfriend just had her first meal of the day with another man who kept smiling at her; does he really have nothing to say about it?”Oh, no. Was it going to cause a rift between Liam and me?I didn’t think much a
Aria’s POV:I walked down the car, and my eyes widened in disbelief when Liam leaned and placed a kiss on my forehead. “Good night, Burgundy,” he winked at me, got to his car, and drove away.I didn’t move; I just stood there staring at the car, which was already out of view.Felt an arm on my shoulder, closed my eyes tightly because I knew exactly who it was.“Hello, Mother.” I turned to her with a smile; she shook her head vigorously and kept staring at me without uttering a word.“Did you have dinner already?” I asked, and our gaze moved to the cab, which parked next to us.“That’s my ride. Aria, I am leaving.”I nodded and hugged her. “Take care, Mother.”“Don’t forget dinner tomorrow at Forever; be there at 6, okay?”“Of course, I will be there.” I waved at her; she got to the car, and it drove out. Finally, I sighed in relief; she didn’t ask about Liam, and that was a step forward, right? Liam didn’t even bother saying hi to her. After I was freshened up, I sat close to the wind
Aria’s POV:I smiled and watched him walk around the kitchen, busy cooking; his movements were swift, like he knew his way around the kitchen. He turned on the tap, and water splashed onto him. I laughed, and he glanced at me, and I couldn’t help but laugh more.Liam stared at his T-shirt, which was wet; he pulled it off, and his muscles strained. His chest looked so hard, and his physique—I could tell he constantly hit the gym because look at this abs.I had the urge to run my fingers down his chest and…“Ouch,” I screamed when he threw his T-shirt on my face, blocking my view.I pulled it away, and he now leaned close to me. “I don’t mind your gawking, but don’t be so shameless,” he muttered, and my face flushed.“You…you…” I pointed a finger at him angrily; he laughed and returned to cooking.Ahh.Someone kill me.A few minutes later he was done, served a plate, and placed it in front of me. The aroma was magic, and it looked so appetizing.“One minute.” I walked down the stool, hu
Aria’s POV:The cab dropped Sam at home first, but I didn’t go in with her; I had somewhere else to be. The ride was long before we arrived, Caleb and Law.Walked down the car and walked in with everyone’s gaze following me, got to Caleb’s office, and his secretary wasn’t at her desk, so I got to the door and pushed it open.He was with some clients, but I didn’t care about them. “Aria…” Caleb stood up with an anxious tone. This time around, he really crossed the line. I didn’t mind that he had mentioned Liam the last time he came to my parents' place, but how could he call my father to tell him about Liam’s visit? Was he trying to garner a place in Father’s heart or what? And at what expense? “What relationship do we have, Mr. Thompson?” I raised a brow with folded arms; his gaze moved to his clients, who stood up.“We will leave now.”“Sorry about this; I will make sure to reach out to you.” Caleb apologized before he walked them to the door; after they were gone, he shut the door
Liam’s POV:Finally, we were done with the game and could now focus on important matters. Julian called me before the game to tell me Salmon has been arrested because of a fight. Now he was in police custody and had pleaded us not to tell Rita about it.“Liam, let’s go, yeah?” Julian said, and I nodded.“Wait, we are all heading home for a drink; won’t you guys join?” Rita questioned.“We have some work; you girls go home first,” Julian answered, and we walked to my car before I drove out.“Man, are you being serious with Aria? You just got to America and didn’t even get to have a taste of our little blondes; you shouldn’t have rushed stuff,” he explained, and I really didn’t pay attention to his words. He was talented at speaking nonsense.Aria was losing her mind when she had no idea what relationship we shared; I didn’t want to see her doubt and question herself.I wanted her to be mine.To be happyAnd I don’t care about some blondes.“At least you won’t be giving out so much mone
Aria’s POV:Sam’s eyes grew in disbelief; she dropped her bag on my thighs. “I will replace her.”Huh?Was she going to play just to prove Alex wrong?Well, that was a good thing for me, but what if she gets injured?“Let it go, Sam. What if you get injured?”“Don’t worry, sister; they are not even professional players, so it will be as easy as makeup.”I hesitated for a while but let go.“Watch and learn.” She bumped into Alex’s shoulder as she walked away with Julian.Soon, she was dressed in blue sport attire, which was oversized.Sam opened her arms in disbelief, and I chuckled before giving her a thumbs up.Rita walked to us and occupied Sam’s spot and sighed heavily. “Luckily, I didn’t fall so hard.”“You did well,” I smiled at her, and she chuckled before pointing at Sam.“She looks so delicate; I hope she won’t get hurt.”“She is an outstanding player,” I assured Rita. She raised a brow and pointed at Liam’s hand around my shoulder. I shyly turned my attention to the game. They kept on play
Aria’s POV:Mother walked and sat next to me before she rubbed my back. “You know how upset your father gets at times, so stop crying, okay?”I nodded and cleaned my tears.Caleb stood up and scanned the sitting room; I noticed his eyes grow sore, but I didn’t want to be affected by it, so I looked
Aria’s POV:What did he mean? How did we behave like kids? He disrespected me not just in private but also in public, so how is divorcing him a childish behavior? Our conversation got interrupted with a phone call; he sighed when he saw the call. “Go get dressed and come with me,” he ordered, and m
Aria’s POV:I returned home, freshened up, and sat by the window with my draft book in hand; I had no idea what I should write about. My gaze moved to the clock, and it was 8pm; maybe I should go to bed and try to come up with something.Wait, my brows furrowed when a bright light illuminated from
Aria’s POV:I nudged at Mother, who shook her head and signaled I eat quietly. “Just come in and eat already,” I said with a loud tone, and Caleb nodded. He walked in and bowed slightly. “Good day, Father, Mother…Gigi,” he greeted, but Gigi scoffed loudly.Caleb pulled the chair next to me, and Mot
