LOGINAria’s POV:
He turned, our gazes met, and just when I thought it was only polite that I at least smile or wave at him, he shifted his gaze back to Mr Walters.
“Your table is ready,” the server said. She directed us to a table which was a few tables away from Liam Styles.
“Oh my…” Ava gasped with her gaze on him; I had to pinch her before she looked away. “He is like…you know that man you dream of when you are sixteen? The one you wish your future husband to look like, but you know it’s impossible because it’s just your imagination,” she explained so vividly, and I chuckled lightly.
Not because it was funny, but because she was right… I still wonder if he is real or just a drawing.
“You mean the type of man I dream of?” Sam muttered, and Ava glared at her again. I just loved when she got angry when her sister talked about men.
“Okay, can we focus on why we are here?” I suggested, even when it was pretty hard to concentrate on the menu, I desperately wanted to know more about him; I wanted to know how he felt watching his father get wronged by the whole country.
We went through the menu and ordered our meals, which arrived shortly. We started eating, and soon our focus was now on the taste of the food.
“Let’s ask the servers to get the chef; this is a great opportunity to have a closer look at him,” Sam suggested, and Ava stood up angrily, then she mistakenly pushed the whipped cream, and it fell on my thighs.
“Ava,” I pouted and stood up, picked up the napkin and tried cleaning it off my dress, but it only got worse.
“I am so sorry.” Ava handed me another napkin. I shook my head in denial and stared around; everyone’s gaze was on us.
“I will head to the restroom and try to get rid of it.” I took a few steps before turning back to them. “Don’t kill Sam when I am gone,” I warned jokingly before finding my way to the restroom.
Poured some water on the napkin and tried cleaning off the cream on my dress.
After much effort the stain was slightly gone; I could walk to my car with this.
I stepped out and bumped into someone. “Ouch,” I winced in pain as my head hit the stranger’s hard chest.
I massaged my temple, looked up and discovered it was Liam. “I am sorry,” he apologised and turned to leave when I blocked his path.
“Anything?” He raised a brow; I stared at him for a while but had nothing to say.
I shook my head in denial, stepped aside and let him get into the male restroom.
“Why was he behaving like that night was nothing?” I pouted, leant by the wall and brushed my hair with my fingers.
I was in deep thought; the door pulled open, and Liam stepped out. He looked a little surprised, spotting me in the same spot he left me.
And I didn’t want to keep asking myself questions I couldn’t answer; it was better to let him answer that.
“I…we, we got intimate, but you only searched for me because of your shirt…”
“I am not some prostitute,” I clarified. He must have thought of me as one, and that’s why he thought it wasn’t worth searching about me; he only did two weeks later when he discovered I had his shirt.
Liam slipped his hand into his pockets and leant against the wall opposite me. “When I got into the bedroom and couldn’t find you, I asked my men to do some research about you,” he started, and I felt the knot in my stomach loosen. He did some research on me, so it meant something.
“Aria Nicole, writer of The Hero in My Nightmare, Love and Tribulations, and Under the Sunset with Mr. Right,” he added, and I smiled softly; he knew about my books… Well, those were just a few of my books, the most popular ones.
“I read a lot, so I have much respect for writers.” Liam retracted his hand from his pocket; he held a brown key holder and kept staring at it.
“But after reading your books, I realised there was no need to search for you.”
What did he mean by that?
My brows creased; his gaze finally moved to me. “Because you are just fake,” he spouted, and my eyes widened in shock; my fist clenched as I felt my eyes become sore.
I was fake; he said I was fake. He didn’t know me; he knows nothing about me but called me fake?
Did my books give him such an impression about me?
And for the second time in a day, he turned his back and left without giving further explanations on what he meant.
It wasn’t worth searching for me.
I was fake.
I am fake.
Fake. Fake. Fake.
Fictionous, the worst writer alive. I didn’t deserve any prise or fame; I was just some fake writer.
I crouched to the ground as countless tears rolled down my cheeks.
Some footsteps approached me; it was Ava, and she crouched to my level. “What happened?”
I cleaned my tears and stood up. “I…I just want to go home.”
“Did someone say something to you? Is it because I ruined your dress?”
“Can you both please find your way home?” I stood up with a pleading look.
Ava nodded and rubbed my cheeks. “We will get a cab; don’t worry about us. Just go home and have a sound sleep, okay?”
I nodded and walked past her, got back to the restaurant section, and Liam was back to his original space and didn’t even spare me a glance.
Walked to our table and picked up my car keys. “Big sister, what happened?” Sam questioned.
“I have a headache and will head home first; you girls go on and eat.” I forced a smile before heading to my car. Got in and closed the door before closing my eyes.
It was known that once a person says something about you, then it could be out of hatred, jealousy or just with the intention to hurt you, but when two unrelated people say the same thing, then believe them.
All this while, I was the problem in my marriage. Caleb had every right to cheat on me; I was just some fake wife.
I burst out in tears, clutched my chest tightly… How fake was I? I didn’t understand what he meant, but it must be so bad.
Aria’s POV:I ignored Jay’s calls and hurried to my car and drove away; my phone rang.Checked the caller, and it was Ava. “Hey?”“Snitch, you had breakfast with Jay and didn’t even let me know.”I sighed heavily. “I am not in the mood, Ava.”“What happened? Did he hurt you?” She asked, and I sighed heavily; I shouldn’t be angry.I should be calm and handle things carefully.“No, so did Jay tell you we had breakfast?” I inquired because how did she know?“It’s all over social media; now everyone is wondering who exactly you are dating, Liam Styles or Jay Kings,” she explained, and I smacked my lips; it was that kid.“What does Liam have to say about it?” she added, and my brows furrowed; I heard her clearly but couldn’t understand her question. What does he have to say?“His girlfriend just had her first meal of the day with another man who kept smiling at her; does he really have nothing to say about it?”Oh, no. Was it going to cause a rift between Liam and me?I didn’t think much a
Aria’s POV:I walked down the car, and my eyes widened in disbelief when Liam leaned and placed a kiss on my forehead. “Good night, Burgundy,” he winked at me, got to his car, and drove away.I didn’t move; I just stood there staring at the car, which was already out of view.Felt an arm on my shoulder, closed my eyes tightly because I knew exactly who it was.“Hello, Mother.” I turned to her with a smile; she shook her head vigorously and kept staring at me without uttering a word.“Did you have dinner already?” I asked, and our gaze moved to the cab, which parked next to us.“That’s my ride. Aria, I am leaving.”I nodded and hugged her. “Take care, Mother.”“Don’t forget dinner tomorrow at Forever; be there at 6, okay?”“Of course, I will be there.” I waved at her; she got to the car, and it drove out. Finally, I sighed in relief; she didn’t ask about Liam, and that was a step forward, right? Liam didn’t even bother saying hi to her. After I was freshened up, I sat close to the wind
Aria’s POV:I smiled and watched him walk around the kitchen, busy cooking; his movements were swift, like he knew his way around the kitchen. He turned on the tap, and water splashed onto him. I laughed, and he glanced at me, and I couldn’t help but laugh more.Liam stared at his T-shirt, which was wet; he pulled it off, and his muscles strained. His chest looked so hard, and his physique—I could tell he constantly hit the gym because look at this abs.I had the urge to run my fingers down his chest and…“Ouch,” I screamed when he threw his T-shirt on my face, blocking my view.I pulled it away, and he now leaned close to me. “I don’t mind your gawking, but don’t be so shameless,” he muttered, and my face flushed.“You…you…” I pointed a finger at him angrily; he laughed and returned to cooking.Ahh.Someone kill me.A few minutes later he was done, served a plate, and placed it in front of me. The aroma was magic, and it looked so appetizing.“One minute.” I walked down the stool, hu
Aria’s POV:The cab dropped Sam at home first, but I didn’t go in with her; I had somewhere else to be. The ride was long before we arrived, Caleb and Law.Walked down the car and walked in with everyone’s gaze following me, got to Caleb’s office, and his secretary wasn’t at her desk, so I got to the door and pushed it open.He was with some clients, but I didn’t care about them. “Aria…” Caleb stood up with an anxious tone. This time around, he really crossed the line. I didn’t mind that he had mentioned Liam the last time he came to my parents' place, but how could he call my father to tell him about Liam’s visit? Was he trying to garner a place in Father’s heart or what? And at what expense? “What relationship do we have, Mr. Thompson?” I raised a brow with folded arms; his gaze moved to his clients, who stood up.“We will leave now.”“Sorry about this; I will make sure to reach out to you.” Caleb apologized before he walked them to the door; after they were gone, he shut the door
Liam’s POV:Finally, we were done with the game and could now focus on important matters. Julian called me before the game to tell me Salmon has been arrested because of a fight. Now he was in police custody and had pleaded us not to tell Rita about it.“Liam, let’s go, yeah?” Julian said, and I nodded.“Wait, we are all heading home for a drink; won’t you guys join?” Rita questioned.“We have some work; you girls go home first,” Julian answered, and we walked to my car before I drove out.“Man, are you being serious with Aria? You just got to America and didn’t even get to have a taste of our little blondes; you shouldn’t have rushed stuff,” he explained, and I really didn’t pay attention to his words. He was talented at speaking nonsense.Aria was losing her mind when she had no idea what relationship we shared; I didn’t want to see her doubt and question herself.I wanted her to be mine.To be happyAnd I don’t care about some blondes.“At least you won’t be giving out so much mone
Aria’s POV:Sam’s eyes grew in disbelief; she dropped her bag on my thighs. “I will replace her.”Huh?Was she going to play just to prove Alex wrong?Well, that was a good thing for me, but what if she gets injured?“Let it go, Sam. What if you get injured?”“Don’t worry, sister; they are not even professional players, so it will be as easy as makeup.”I hesitated for a while but let go.“Watch and learn.” She bumped into Alex’s shoulder as she walked away with Julian.Soon, she was dressed in blue sport attire, which was oversized.Sam opened her arms in disbelief, and I chuckled before giving her a thumbs up.Rita walked to us and occupied Sam’s spot and sighed heavily. “Luckily, I didn’t fall so hard.”“You did well,” I smiled at her, and she chuckled before pointing at Sam.“She looks so delicate; I hope she won’t get hurt.”“She is an outstanding player,” I assured Rita. She raised a brow and pointed at Liam’s hand around my shoulder. I shyly turned my attention to the game. They kept on play
Liam’s POV:I loved how cute she looked; she is wonderful, but I don’t want to have so much effect on her, not because I don’t care about her but because I know she deserves to love herself. It’s known that ladies who always try to be perfect are the most insecure in the world, and that aligns with
Aria’s POV:Liam stood there, dressed in casuals and also had glasses on… It made him look smart and soft; his hair was rough, and he looked so tired. His lips curled to a smile before he leaned against the doorway. “Burgundy,” he muttered in an amused tone.I cleared my throat; I didn’t come here
Aria’s POV:It was extremely hard trying to lie to yourself, but it was even harder to make a stranger feel you can’t do without him.Right now, Liam was just another stranger in my life… someone I meet during one of my tough times, and we don’t bond, we don’t argue… We just go our separate ways.“
Liam’s POV:I woke up early today to attend a friend’s court case. Unfortunately, I couldn’t be his lawyer because I was occupied with my other friend’s case, who was arrested for killing Mr Walters’ son.I even had a meal with Mr Walters yesterday and tried to reason things with him so we could so
