Chapter 9

"Lorraine," James called, walked into the room but he stopped immediately his eyes fell on her sleeping on the bed.

She was wrapped in a blanket. James could not tell why he felt happy that she had decided to sleep.

He grinned, darting his mind away from the thoughts clouding together.

"How long have you been staring at me," Lorraine's voice brought him back to the present.

His eyes dropped in embarrassment. "I... I just entered."

"Well, I woke up about three minutes ago," Lorraine countered, making him more embarrassment.

She scrambled out of bed, and stood up.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to…"

"I was joking," she giggled. "You can die standing if you like."

He smiled. "No nightmares, right?"

He liked the sound of her voice, the way her head tilted first one way then another as she talked. It made her dark hair move against her neck and bare shoulders.

"Woke up as I slept," she replied, yawning.

"What would you like to know, Lorraine?"

She sighed. "What's happening, James?"
