The air thickened around us like smoke. Sophie’s voice wove through it, low and steady, a rhythm older than time itself. Her lips moved fast, but the words made no sense to me. Each syllable felt like it carried weight pulling the air, twisting it, bending it. The ground beneath my paws trembled faintly, and the leaves in the nearby trees rustled though there was no wind.

I stared at her, frozen. Her eyes were closed, her palms lifted slightly, and a dim blue light flickered between her fingers. I could only hear the beat of my own heart.

“Why is she doing that?” I whispered in my mind, my gaze locked on her. “What is she trying to do?”

Limene stirred uneasily inside me. “I don’t like this, Nora,” she said. “This feels wrong. Too heavy. Too quiet.”

“Maybe she’s protecting us,” I said, trying to sound brave, though my voice trembled inside.

“Or she’s trapping us,” Limene snapped back.

I flinched. I didn’t want to think that way. Sophie had saved me once. She’d warned me. She had no rea

  • The luna’s misery   Chapter 47

I managed to limp into my room with the help of Lara after receiving the most shocking warning of my life. Everything about today still felt like a dream,no, a nightmare. My whole body ached from exhaustion, and every step sent a sharp sting through my leg. When Alpha Jack came earlier and gave me that warning look after calling my name, like he suddenly cared, it felt like being stabbed twice. His eyes carried both authority and something else I couldn’t read. Then, without a word of comfort, he turned to Sean and commanded that I be subjected to training every morning and evening. I could still hear his tone echoing in my mind. It wasn’t a request, it was a decree.Sean, kind enough to notice my condition, gave me grace for the rest of the day because of my injury. But that didn’t stop my heart from burning with questions I couldn’t answer. I kept asking myself the same thing over and over again, is Jack really my mate? Because if he is, why does he treat me like I’ve committed some t

  • The luna’s misery   Chapter 46

Jack After leaving the treatment room, I had mixed feelings that I couldn’t even describe. At least she was alive, that alone gave me a little peace. But she looked so pale and weak, her eyes dim and her energy low. It made anger boil inside me like a fire that refused to die. I wanted to comfort her, hold her, tell her she would be safe now, but I couldn’t do it. I didn’t want to scare her more than she already was. She needed time to heal, to find balance within herself before I could even try to reach her.I walked down the long hallway that led to my office. The walls of the pack house were lined with paintings of the old kings before me, men who ruled with strength and pride. I had always looked up to them as a boy, thinking power alone could solve everything. But right now, power wasn’t helping me. Not with her. Not with this strange pull I felt the moment I saw her.I entered my office, the door closing softly behind me. The scent of leather and wood filled the air. I went str

  • The luna’s misery   Chapter 45

The rays of the morning sunlight broke through the curtains and touched my face gently. My eyes blinked open, and for a moment, I forgot where I was. The bed felt too soft, the air too clean. Then everything rushed back, the new room, the new pack, the rejection that sat quietly in my heart like a wound that refused to heal.My head ached badly. Yesterday had drained me completely. From Raven’s endless Revelation to trying on the dresses Lara picked out, it felt like I had been running all day. I had never done things like that before, and it made me feel strange, like I didn’t belong in such a world. The laughter, the smiles, the kindness… all of it felt too good to be real.I slowly sat up, rubbing my temple. The soft blanket slid off my shoulder. The morning air was cool, brushing against my skin. I stood up and dragged my tired feet to the window. The sight outside melted some of the heaviness inside me.The trees stood tall and green, their leaves dancing gently in the wind. Birds

  • The luna’s misery   Chapter 44

The walk to the pack house was so quiet that I could hear the sound of our footsteps echoing against the stone path. The air was heavy with the scent of pine and smoke, and every step I took made my chest tighten more. I didn’t know why, but I could feel something in the air, something like I didn’t belong. The room we came out of was at the far end of the pack’s compound, almost hidden among the trees. From there, the pack house stood tall and proud like a palace made of gold and stone. As we drew closer, I couldn’t help but stare. The building looked nothing like anything I had seen before. It was richly built, with large glass windows reflecting the bright afternoon sun. Every corner seemed to shine, as though the walls themselves were alive. My eyes moved slowly across the place. Wolves were moving to and fro, some carrying baskets, some in groups chatting softly. They all looked so confident, like they had never known fear or pain. When they saw Sean, they bowed slightly, their e

“Don’t worry; he will be back by noon,” Raven said softly, as if she already knew what was running through my mind. Her voice was calm, warm, but it didn’t take away the heavy ache in my chest. I acted like I didn’t care. I tried to look strong, to make it seem like it didn’t bother me that he left without a word. But deep down, my heart was heavy. I wanted him to be here. I wanted him to stay, to look at me again, to say something that would make me feel like I wasn’t invisible. But he didn’t.He just walked away, and that hurt more than I wanted to admit.I nodded slowly, forcing a small smile that didn’t even reach my eyes. I sat on the soft fur mat beside the small wooden bed, pretending to look around the room even though I was lost in my thoughts. The place smelled of herbs, smoke, and faint lavender. Raven’s hands moved quietly over the small table where she kept her potions, mixing and stirring things with the kind of care that only she had.“You need to take your bath with th

If this figure standing here is my mate, then I have to give this mate thing a trial. He is too cute to be left for anyone. His black suit is neatly fitted on his body, showing the shape of every muscle like it was carved by the gods themselves. The fabric glows slightly under the dim candlelight, his chest rising and falling slowly like he doesn’t even care about the attention he’s drawing. And that scent… oh, that scent. His scent fills the room, deep and sweet, with a strange pull that makes my heart twist painfully inside my chest. I can feel the tension in his body even from here. The air is thick, charged, as if his wolf is just waiting for one wrong move to break free.“How is she doing?” His deep voice rolled out slowly, his eyes flickering toward me for just a second before shifting to Raven. What was that supposed to mean?“I think he has pride, and I like it,” Limene said, her voice laced with something close to admiration.“Pride?” I hissed in my mind. “What kind of pride
