Alexia Skylar Hale

My morning was already ruined when I saw Ace fucking De Santis sitting in my living room. He and I got history. Yes, we tried to kill each other.

Four years ago, he and I were sent on the same mission. We were both after the same person. A powerful man who was buying and selling women. We didn't know we were after the same person until we fucking fought over him. My dad wanted him alive and his dad wanted him dead. Well, in the end, he died. Ace shot him.

My morning was ruined again when I read that piece of paper in my father's hand.

And then my morning was ruined again for the third time by father who suggested that we work together and sort this out.

"I think that's a good idea." A man said standing infront of our main door.

I looked at the familiar man and i saw everyone was doing the same. I looked at Ace then him and finally connected the dots. He was Vincenzo De Santis, Ace's father.

"Dad," Ace acknowledged him. "What are you doing here?", He asked as his father made his way towards us.

"It was urgent. We received a letter. Your mother found it on our bed." Vincenzo said, removing a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to Ace.

"Chris," Vincenzo smiled at my father, "It's been a while."

"Agreed." My father returned the smile and turned to and Daniella, "Meet my daughter, Alexia", He said pointing to me "—and my other daughter, Daniella." He continued pointing to Daniella.

Vincenzo looked at me and a smile made it's way on his face. "Alexia Skylar Hale," he started, "I've heard so many things about you."

"Only good things, I hope." I returned the smile with a chuckle.

"Good, interesting things, yes." He smiled, "Unbelievable things as well."

"What does the letter says?" My dad asked, his attention on Ace.

"Its an invitation." Ace replied.

"To what?" I asked as he turned and looked at me while smirking. "To a party." I rolled my eyes at his smirk.

"Ayyy a party!" Daniella's excited voice interrupted us, "Can't wait to go!"

"Not everyone is invited, barbie." Ace rolled his eyes at her.

I had to bite my cheeks in order not to laugh at the nickname. She really did look like a barbie with all the plastic on her.

"Who is invited?" My dad asked curiously.

"Me and Her." Ace replied gesturing to me.

'Her' as if i don't have a fucking name.

"Only the two of us?" I asked earning a nod from him.

"Whyyyyyy her?" Daniella screamed, getting on my nerves as i put my hands on my ears.

"Shut the fuck up." I hissed, glaring at her.

"Why You? Hope you die there. Adios!" Dana said and left the room.

"Bitch." I murmured

"Heard that." My dad with a laugh.

"She is one." I shrugged causing Ace, his father and my own to smile and shook their head at my comment.

"Is there a reason why Ace and Alexia should go there alone?", My mother asked while walking to us.

"I assume you know Melissa." Dad asked Vincenzo as he pointed to my mother.

"Yeah." Vincenzo smiled at her which she returned.

"Because they want li fantasma and The Mafia leader Italian mafia who is also the best assassin to come to their party." Vincenzo stated.

"Oh please—", Daniella voiced interrupted us once again. "Li fantasma is a myth!"  She yelled with her fake and really bad Italian accent.

Yeah, she didn't know that her sister is li fantasma. I mean, can you blame me for wanting to keep this from her?

"She doesn't know?", Vincenzo asked, looking at me. I quickly mouthed a "No" to him. I swear I could see Ace smiling.

"And if you think Alexia is that li fantasma, you're mistaken." She yelled again earning a scoff from me.

"I think we should tell her." my mom suggested earning a nod from me. I only agreed because i really want to see her reaction.

"Daniella!", my mom yelled, "Come downstairs for a moment will you?"

"Coming!" Daniella replied as soon she was standing beside my mother as my dad told her that i really am, li fantasma.

"Legends has it that li fantasma has a tattoo on her waist. A fucking dragon tattoo. You don't have any tattoo on your waist. So why are you lying to everyone?", Dana said clearly not believing a word my dad just said.

She was right. I do have a dragon tattoo on My waist but I hid it with make-up. I had to otherwise, my family would have become a target. But some people won't understand it.

"There's this thing called makeup. It can be used to hide many things but im assuming you know that as you use it a lot." Ace stated in annoyance. He literally took the words out of my mouth.

"What he said." I gestured to Ace.

"Prove it." Daniella scoffed.

"She is li fantasma."  Chris and Vincenzo said in union with their Italian accent.

"Stop lying. Why's everyone lying? I'm old enough to tell when someone's lying." She stated

Sure girl, whatever you say.

"And right now, you are lying." She pointed to all of us.

I ignored her stupid comment and went upstairs. I went directly in the bathroom, took a shower and removed the makeup letting my tattoos on display.

"See?" I heard Daniella spoke again. "She got embarrassed and ran away."

"I don't think she ran away." I heard Vincenzo say

"Nope. She didn't run away. She'll be back." My dad confirmed.

After like 10 minutes, I got out of the shower with a towel wrapped around me. I opened my closet and took out a top in which my tattoo wouldn't be hidden and wore a pair of jeans then head downstairs.

"So much for being old enough to determine whether someone's lying or not huh?", I mocked her as she stared at the tattoos with her eyes wide.

"It's true. You are real—", she started, "Of course you are real. I should have known. When you returned home every night with blood all over you. When you torture people like a crazy psychotic bitch to get what you want from them."

"Alexia Skylar Hale is li fantasma. Damn, everyone is gonna find out about this. Everyone will know me as well, for revealing the identity of li fantasma." She added.

"Fuck No." We all said at the same time.

"You'll do nothing of that sort!", I said in a threatening tone. "Do you hear me? If you do that, I won't think twice before ending your life."

"You will not do such thing," my dad said to her, "That's betrayal and you know I hate people who betrays me. I won't care if you're my daughter or not."

"Geez. Fine." She said with an eye roll and went to her room, slamming the door shut.

"I'm starting to regret suggesting that we tell her." My mom said after a few seconds of silence.

alexia's POVIt was finally the day.The day everything we had been planning—everything we had been hiding, training for, bleeding for—would be exposed to the world. The day two empires would collide and fuse into something far more dangerous than either of us alone. The day we announced the merger. The day we made more enemies than ever before.I stood in front of the mirror, barely recognizing the woman staring back at me. The dress hugged me perfectly—dark, elegant, lethal. It wasn’t just fabric. It was armor. Every stitch felt like a declaration of war.A queen’s uniform.Ace stepped up behind me, his reflection appearing over my shoulder. His eyes dragged over me slowly, appreciation and pride unmistakable.“Ready?” he asked quietly.I met his gaze in the mirror. Calm. Steady. Ruthless.“Ready.”He smiled, that dangerous smile that always meant something big was about to happen.“Let’s go downstairs,” he said. “Everybody’s waiting. We’re heading to the main house together. Sleep didn’t come easily after that.Ace drifted off beside me, one arm heavy over my waist, his presence solid and unyielding even in rest. I lay awake, staring into the dark, my thoughts circling like vultures over the same truth.Tomorrow would be the point of no return.I had been raised on strategy and silence. On learning when to speak and, more importantly, when not to. My father taught me that power wasn’t loud—it was patient. It waited. It observed. And then it struck so cleanly that no one even saw the blade until they were already bleeding.Tomorrow, I would stop waiting.Ace shifted beside me, pulling me closer without waking. His grip tightened instinctively, possessive even in sleep, like some part of him sensed how far my thoughts had wandered into dangerous territory.I pressed my palm against his chest, feeling the steady thud of his heart. He trusted me.That wasn’t something Ace gave lightly.People feared him. Respected him. Followed him. But trust? That was rare.

I don’t know how long I slept, only that I woke to the rhythmic rise and fall of Ace’s chest beneath my cheek. He slept like a man who trusted no one—shallow breaths, muscles still tense, one arm locked around my waist as if someone might try to take me from him even in his dreams. For a moment, I stayed still.Just listening to him breathe.Just feeling his warmth seeping into my bones. It was strangely peaceful—dangerously peaceful. The kind of moment I never allowed myself to want. Because wanting led to weakness, and weakness got people killed. But with him…I didn’t feel weak.I felt anchored. And maybe that frightened me more than anything else.Bang. Bang. Bang.A rapid knock shattered the silence.I groaned, burying my face deeper against Ace, hoping whoever it was would take the hint and go die somewhere quietly.“What is it?” I snapped, my voice muffled.“Dinner’s ready!” Arielle’s voice echoed through the door, loud enough to give me a headache.Ace shifted beside me with a

The night felt different. It wasn’t the kind of difference you could point at or label. It was something woven into the air, something thick, electric, humming against my skin like the world knew tomorrow would change everything. One hour had passed since the meeting—one hour since the men left with wide eyes and whispered theories and that strange mix of fear and anticipation that always followed whenever Ace made a decision involving me.I sat in the back of the car as Ace’s driver sped through the city. Streetlights streaked past like thin gold lines cutting through the dark, and the faint reflection on the window showed my own face looking back at me—composed, quiet, unreadable. The face my father trained me to wear. The face that hid everything soft under steel. My pulse, however, gave me away.Tomorrow.Everything I’d prepared for, everything my father never wanted for me but shaped me for anyway, would unfold in front of the entire syndicate. Tomorrow, I wouldn’t be the girl th

  • The Mafia's Legend   49

I stood in Ace’s bedroom, surrounded by the faint scent of his cologne that always lingered in the air—something dark, woodsy, masculine enough to make my thoughts drift places they shouldn't when I needed to stay focused. His room was so painfully him: minimalistic, neat, dangerous in a quiet, controlled way. There were weapons placed strategically around the room, not out in the open but positioned where someone like me—someone who grew up learning to identify hidden compartments and shadows that weren’t just shadows—would notice them. Guns tucked into drawers, a knife hidden under his nightstand, another beneath the bed frame. All perfectly reachable. All perfectly Ace.And there I stood in the middle of it, staring at my reflection in the full-length mirror near his wardrobe.I was supposed to be getting ready to go to my main house—the house I grew up in, the center of the American mafia, the place that raised me, trained me, shaped me into what I was today. And yet, despite my y

My heartbeat stuttered, then slammed painfully against my ribs as the scene in front of me came into focus. I didn’t breathe. I couldn’t. For a long, stretching second the world narrowed to one impossible, horrifying image:Daniella. My sister. With a gun pressed against my mother’s head. Our mother. The metallic click of the safety being turned off stabbed through my ears, sharp and final. My eyes widened, vision blurring with disbelief. It felt like the air had been sucked out of the room.“Daniella?” my mother whispered, her voice trembling with something deeper than fear. Something like heartbreak. My father snapped forward instantly, fury radiating off him like heat. “Daniella, what the hell do you think you’re doing? Let your mother go!”But Daniella didn’t even flinch. Her jaw was clenched tight, her eyes burning with a hatred I had never seen on her. She gestured sharply at us with the barrel of the gun.“Go stand with the others. Move before I shoot her.”The words were venom
