Chapter 21 - Compare

“So you dated Knox.” Michael says when we walk through my apartment door.  He closes the door and whistles loudly. I turn around and look at him.

“Dated is a big word.” I say and he looks at me sideways. Saying we dated is stretching it, Knox and I hung out. We were never official. What we did never had a label, it was a situationship.

“So you didn’t date?” He asks that curious look back on his face. I don’t know how I feel about him being so interested in my “ex”. It makes me uncomfortable, I would rather he was interested in me.

“We hung out.” I say and he nods slowly, as if trying to make sense of what I said.

“Okay.” He says finally and he looks at me for a long time. I walk to my sofa and sit down. I still feel tired but I know that Michael and I need to have this conversation now; so that we won’t have to have it later on.
