Scout pov

A sharp satisfaction curled through me as I replayed Bella’s expression from earlier in my office. That moment when frustration and anger had overtaken, her composure had been delicious to watch. She finally understood.

She knew now, without question, that she was trapped.

There was no way out, no trick she could use to slip free. She was tied to me, and I could see the weight of that sinking in, undeniable, and unshakable.

I had won.

The rest of the workday passed as i attended to the paperwork, calls, meetings, and things that normally demanded my attention. I felt like nothing more than distractions. My mind kept circling back to her. To the quiet defiance in her eyes. To the way she had tried to hide her emotions beneath a thin layer of professionalism.

She thought she could keep up the act. Thought she could convince me she was fine.

But I had seen the cracks.

I pressed the intercom button on my desk. “Ben, get the car ready.”
