LOGINVERA’S POV
The doctor’s words echoed in my ears, “You're my precious lost sister.”
“What are you talking about?” I managed to ask. Was he playing some kind of joke with me?
His face was serious and he didn't look like he was joking.
He managed to calm me down and explained everything to me;
Apparently, he noticed that my rare blood type matched his, and after he donated blood to me, he secretly ran a DNA test;
The test results confirmed that I was his biological sister. The one that his family had lost and hoped to find for twenty-three years.
I think, I was frozen and too stunned to speak for some minutes and he finally spoke again,
“You are my sister, our Jewel Hudson.”
“Hudson?” The name caught my attention instantly, “You are…?”
He nodded, “Yes, my name is Caleb Hudson.”
My mouth hung open and my eyes widened in shock.
“You are Caleb Hudson?” My voice trembled,
Hudson family? The richest family in the country? No wonder he looked really familiar, he's the second son, Caleb Hudson, a famous surgeon who is known all over the world for all the critical cases he had successfully handled.
His face is all over the internet and tabloids as well as his other four brothers.
I must be dreaming right now.
“And I'm your sister? I'm a Hudson?” I asked, still stunned.
“Yes, Jewel,” he said with affection in his eyes. “When you're better, I'll take you back home. Our home.”
I was a girl who spent her entire childhood wondering why she was born unwanted;
The girl who scrubbed tables and gets molested in bars just to survive.
But just overnight, I found out that I'm a long lost heiress.
I had a lot of questions to ask caleb; they were spinning in my head;
How did they lose me for all those years? Why didn’t they find me? How did they let me end up in the hands of that monster who called himself my father?
Everything didn’t make sense to me.
But I just kept quiet and took in the shock.
Doctor Caleb finally left, promising to come back to check on me; and Cynthia came back in with bags of food.
I didn't say a word to her about what Doctor Matthew just said to me. I still couldn’t believe it.
After three more days in the hospital, I was finally ready to be discharged; Caleb had arranged everything, my tests, discharged papers and prepared me for a trip to the Hudson's mansion.
My heart was pounding loudly in my chest at the back seat of the car with Caleb as we entered through the giant gates of the mansion.
He reached out to hold my hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, “I called everyone that I had a surprise for them and they are all waiting inside.” He smiled at me.
He looked genuinely happy and relieved.
Relieved to have finally found his sister, I guess.
Now I stood in the middle of a massive living room, surrounded by six men whose names the whole country knew.
The Hudson men.
The five brothers, and their father.
Men who had shaped industries, dominated headlines, and practically ruled the city.
I didn't need anyone to introduce them to me; I knew who they were; Everyone in this country knew the Hudson family and I've done a lot of research on them because we've been trying to get a partnership deal with them for ages.
Their presence were so intimidating and dominating that I almost fainted again
They were all staring at Matthew and I with bored expression, waiting impatiently for the “surprise” he had summoned them for.
Roman Hudson the eldest said in an authoritative, CEO energy pouring out of him “if this is about a new girlfriend, you could’ve just texted. We didn’t have to cancel board meetings for this.”
He's the acting CEO of the Hudson's enterprise, the most successful business company in the country. Every business owner wants to partner and work with him, including Anthony.
“Seriously,” one of the twins, Rhys, who is a worldwide global popstar, interjected “Bro, I was in the middle of recording, this better be good.” he whined.
The twins were the youngest brothers and the second twin Russell Hudson, is a star hockey player.
The lawyer among them, James Hudson, pushed his glasses up. “If this is another prank, I swear…”
Matthew raised his hand sharply. “Shut up. All of you.”
By their expression, they were obviously taken aback by his tone.
He stepped closer to me, then pulled me gently forward.
“I didn’t bring you here to meet my girlfriend,” he said. “I brought you here to meet someone you’ve all missed for twenty-three years.”
The room fell into a dead silence as they looked at me with a mixture of expressions I couldn't place
Roman, the eldest, frowned. “Caleb… what are you saying?”
Caleb opened his office bag and took the DNA file out, then moved further to place it in his father’s hands; Mr Hudson, a grey headed man but still managed to radiate an intimidating aura.
“This is our sister,” Caleb said quietly. “This is Jewel.”
They all stood up one by one with stunned expressions on their faces;
Their father was the first to move forward, the DNA results dangling in his hand “You found my Jewel?” His voice was almost breaking and his eyes were already glassy with tears.
“Yes, dad,” Caleb nodded with a smile that looked emotional, “I brought our sister back home to us after all these years.”
Mr Hudson looked at the paper in his hands again, his hands trembled as he passed it to Roman;He moved forward to stand in front of me; I didn't know how to react or what to say, I just stared at shocked faces as they took turns to look at the DNA papers.But there was something in the way Mr Hudson looked at me that I've never felt before or seen directed to me before;Pure and overflowing affection but mixed with guilt and hurt.“My Jewel…” he whispered, voice cracking, “My baby girl…”My chest tightened painfully.He stared at me intensely as if he scared that I might disappear if he blinked;Then he pulled me into a warm and comforting hug. I've never felt this way with anyone before, not even with Anthony.I remained stiff for a moment, my heart was racing so fast and my body was unsure of how to receive the affection;But he held me tighter like he wasn't ready to let go of me and I heard him sniffle against my shoulder, “My baby girl, where have you been. I've missed you so mu

VERA’S POVI walked out of that mansion with my heart in shreds;I wanted to scream, to cry, to tear something apart, but I just kept walking. My heels clicked against the pavement until I couldn’t feel my feet anymore. The city lights blurred through my tears, and the night air stung my face.I had nowhere to go.He was right about one thing; I didn’t have the money, the power, or the influence to fight him. If I started a case against Anthony Voss, the entire system would chew me alive and spit me out.But staying with him? That would finish what was left of me.My feet stopped on their own accord. I blinked through my tears and realized I was standing in front of a small bar.Memories began to flood back in; Everything started in a bar like this three years ago.I was working in a bar, trying to make enough tips to pay my rent and my father’s gambling debt.Anthony came and drank till late at night until he passed out;Clair, his precious childhood friend and first love had just le
VERA’S POVApplause thundered through the grand ballroom and right in the middle of the stage stood my husband, Anthony Voss, tall, sharp-suited, golden aura blazing under the crystal lights;“Ladies and gentlemen,” he said, smiling that rehearsed billionaire smile, “none of this would have been possible without Clair Richard, my incredible business partner, my friend, my anchor.”He turned to her, admiration shining in his eyes. His voice softened “You’ve been the strength behind every smart move this company made. You’re the reason we’re standing tall tonight.”The crowd erupted again; cameras flashed to capture the moment.Clair, in her silver gown that hugged every perfect curve, smiled up at him, like the world belonged to just the two of them.And I, Vera Voss, his wife, his so-called backbone, stood in the shadows like I was invisible;He didn't even acknowledge me or mention my name for once;I was the one who stayed up helping him draft his speeches, edited those endless co
