chapter twenty-two

Emily's POV

Everything was too calm, and it worried me. Paul hadn't left yet, raising even more suspicions that maybe he was watching us from afar, ready to attack at the right moment. I was happy, and the next moment I was sad and worried; my mood swings were killing me. Also, I couldn't be alone after Luke managed to escape. If it was indeed my father behind it all, he wouldn't stop until he got what he wanted, and it's not very comforting to know that whatever he wanted involved the death of my daughter.

How good it is to call her that and not just a baby. Tyler wasn't very happy that the name was Rachel, but since I was little, I dreamed that if I ever had a daughter, her name would be Rachel, like my doll. Cliché? Ah, who cares. I liked Rachel.

"You look terrible," Caroline entered the kitchen where I was eating caramel ice cream.

"Thank you very much; I'm feeling rejuvenated," I sarcastically replied.
