“Let me go Sandro I do not want this marriage anymore” Five years ago, Elena Moretti made a mistake, a careless one. A one night stand with a stranger, she thought everything was fine if she could pretend it never happened but when that night left her pregnant, her parents forced her into marriage with the ruthless, cold Alessandro De Luca. Alessandro never wanted a wife. Marriage meant nothing to him but he was forced into a marriage with the girl he had a one night stand with, a girl from a family with a falling empire, convinced she did this to seduce him for her family gain he made their marriage-unbearable, loveless, distant and built on nothing but obligation. For five years Elena endured his cruelty raising their son in silence. Now she’s done, she wants out. But just as she prepares to leave, their daughter is kidnapped by Sandro’s enemies, forcing them into working together. As they navigate a deadly game of power and betrayal, Elena starts to see the man behind the monster—the husband who was never hers, the father willing to burn the world for their child. Is it too late to turn hatred into love? Or is she going to take the risk of opening her heart again to the man who hurt her?

I stared at myself in the mirror, my wedding dress hung over my body like it was just made for me, tears streaming down my face.
“It’s time”, Alessia said beside me as she wiped my tears. “Crying is not going to solve this issue,do not let Papà see you like this. It will infuriate him more”.
I didn’t respond.
The doors opened and mamma came in, glancing quickly at my tear streamed face.
“You’ve messed up your makeup,” she said, frowning.
“Mamma please I don’t want to do this, don’t make me marry him”.
“Your papà is the one you should be telling but don’t do that, he won’t listen. This is the consequences of your actions: live with it”.
“The consequences of my actions”, I repeated her words, I couldn’t be angry because I knew she was right.
“Let’s go” she nudged me forward.
Alessia came up beside me and fixed my makeup.
We left the room and met Papà outside. Arms stretched out waiting for me, I linked my arms to his and looked at him. My stare saying more than words could ever.
“Don’t stare at me like that, now look forward and smile”.
So I did.
The loud music thrummed through my body, the neon lights flashing in chaotic patterns as I took another sip of my cocktail. My friends were laughing, swaying to the music, lost in the moment. I should have been too.
But I wasn’t.
This wasn’t how I expected my Graduation night to feel like. I expected to feel free, done with the countless lectures and tests but I wasn’t. I felt trapped, something heavy pressed on me. Maybe it was the unspeakable fact that my life isn’t mine anymore. I was done with college which meant I have to look into the family business, to help out in any way I can and what other way to help your family than to be thrown to rich old men.
Lost in thoughts, I had no idea someone was standing beside me until I felt a tap on my shoulders.
I turned, my brows knitting together at the sight of a man dressed in all black, his expression unreadable. He was a bodyguard—he had that controlled, unshakable energy, the kind that made people step aside without question.
“Someone in VIP wants to see you.”
I blinked. “Who?”
He didn’t answer, only took a step back, waiting.
I should have said no, but something in me didn’t want to. 4 years of college I stayed true, pure, not wanting to do anything that will destroy my family reputation but if this was my last night of freedom I might as well make it count.
The VIP section was quieter, the atmosphere heavier, more exclusive. And then I saw him.
A man lounged in the corner booth, a glass of whiskey in hand, his presence effortlessly commanding. Dark hair, sharp features, an expensive suit that fit him like it was made for his body. He exuded power—not the kind that was loud and demanding, but the kind that made people look, listen, obey.
I had no idea who he was.
But I felt him before I even got close.
“You took your time,” he said smoothly, voice deep and laced with something almost… amused.
I hesitated. “I wasn’t aware I was expected.”
A smirk tugged at his lips as he slid a drink toward me. “Sit. Drink.”
It wasn’t a request.
Every instinct told me to turn around, to walk away. But I didn’t.
I reached for the glass he offered me
And that was my first mistake.
I took the glass, my fingers brushing against his sending a jolt of electricity down my spine.
His gaze never left me, dark, curious and unreadable.
I should have been wary of the way he stared at me like I was a project he was finding hard to finish. I should have dropped the glass, left the booth and gone out to look for my friends but instead I brought the glass to my lips and took a sip.
The whiskey burned, smooth and strong, sliding down my throat. He smirked, as if I’d passed some unspoken test.
“Good girl.”
Something about the way he said it sent a shiver down my spine. I wasn’t sure if it was fear or something else entirely.
I dropped the glass and faced him “Who are you?”
He tilted his head slightly like he was offended by the question. “You don’t know who I am?”
“Should I?”
He chuckled as he took a sip of his whiskey
“If you don’t, that’s fine”
His arrogance should have annoyed me, but instead, it intrigued me. I wasn’t the type to be drawn to dangerous things, but tonight, something about him made me want to forget caution.
He reached for his drink, taking a slow sip before his eyes locked onto mine again. “So tell me, do you always follow strangers when they call for you?”
I crossed my legs, lifting my chin. “Do you always expect women to come when you summon them?”
“And yet, you did”
I shifted uncomfortably in my chair, annoyance crept up my spine. But I knew he was right. This was wrong on so many levels.
He shifted closer, and my breath caught as he reached out, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear. His fingers barely grazed my skin, but it was enough to send a shiver through me.
“Relax.” His voice was low, smooth like silk. “Tonight is about pleasure, nothing else.”
My heart pounded. The club faded away—the music, the people, the weight of my life outside of this moment.
Then he leaned in slightly, his lips close to my ear. “Come home with me.”
It wasn’t a question.
It wasn’t even a request.
It was a command.
And I broke every rule I had when I whispered, “Okay.”
ELENAI decided to ignore the message until I got home, partly because I knew what it was about, and it wasn’t a serious issue.I drove out of the parking lot. The once sunny weather was gloomy now, and I should get home before the rain started.I heaved a sigh of relief when I saw Alessandro’s car wasn’t in the driveway.“Welcome back,” Rosa greeted, with a smiling Aurora in her arms.Aurora was getting less cranky by the day, and I was grateful for that.“How are you, my little angel?” I took the baby from Rosa, and she carried the bags for me.I entered the living room to see a scowling Alessia propped on the couch.“You’re here,” I said dryly.A crease formed between her brows. “You weren’t replying to me. Luckily I was around the area.”“I was driving. I was going to call when I got home.”Her forehead smoothed as she relaxed. “Give her to me. Go get changed, then we’ll talk.”I handed a bubbly Aurora to her and went upstairs to change into more comfortable clothes.I ripped my c
ELENA“I can’t help you if you don’t talk, Elena.”I had finally taken the courage to text the number on the brochure. It directed me to a therapist, and after much deliberation, I decided to give it a try.My parents would flip out if they heard I was going to therapy. It’s not a big deal, they would say. You’ve had a comfortable life what therapy do you need? But as I sat across from Dr. Kushner, I wasn’t sure this was a good idea. Fifteen minutes had passed since I got here, and I hadn’t said a word. She’d been patient enough to wait for me. That patience must come with the job. anyone else would have sent me out by now.“Let’s start from the basics,” she said gently.“How do you feel?”“Fine,” I replied. She pinned me with a stare. “If you were fine, you wouldn’t be here, Elena.”“Right. Just… give me a second to arrange my thoughts.”“You have all the time you need.”“I just had a baby.”Her eyes lit up. “Congratulations.”I managed a small smile.“How have you been handling it?”
ELENA "Cosa ti è successo?!"(What happened to you?!) Mamma screamed when we entered the house. It didn’t take long to get to my parents house, Aurora was already sleeping so I got her out and took her in. “Good afternoon to you too mamma,” I replied dryly to her comment on my appearance. Papà was on the couch scrolling through his phone. He looked up and was taken back but immediately masked his surprise.“Talk to me Lena, what’s going on. Why have you lost so much weight.” I sighed and handed Aurora to her. Mamma happily took her and went to sit beside Papà. “It’s nothing.”“What do you mean it’s nothing?” Papà said, dropping his phone on the table. “Is Alessandro maltreating you?”I rolled my eyes at the question. So now he cares about what I’m going through. He walked up to me and started inspecting my body.“What are you doing?”“Does he beat you?”“What? Of course not.” I moved away from him to grab a glass of water. “We should leave,” I said only to realize Alessia and
ELENAA knock on my door was what woke me up. I tried to ignore it but it was persistent. I sat up from my bed and looked around. I was in my room but I was sure I slept in the nursery yesterday. How did I make it here? Am I sleepwalking now?The knock came again. “Elena, I know you’re in there. Open this door or I will break it.”Alessia? What was she doing here this early morning?I checked my phone only to gasp in shock when I saw the time 12.pm?Shit. I slept through the morning. I looked at the monitor and there was no movement in the crib. I immediately stood up from the bed, threw on a robe and opened the door.“What the hell happened to you?” Alessia asked, her eyes roaming around my body.I pushed past her out of the room. Where’s my baby?I rushed down the stairs only to freeze at the bottom of the stairs. Alessandro casually sat at the dining table. coffee in hand, phone on the other. He looked up and our eyes met. When did he come back? Today? We stared at each other, n
ALESSANDRO The Mexico deal was done. Finally. After weeks of flying, negotiating and securing the deal. I was more than tired when I returned home. I decided to return tonight instead of tomorrow.I rolled to a stop outside my house. It was past midnight so I wasn’t expecting anyone to be up. I got in because I had texted Rosa earlier to leave the door open for me. I should have gone straight to bed. My body begged for it but something tugged me towards the nursery. I had never seen what Elena had done with the space. I passed Elena’s bedroom stopping for a moment outside it before I headed straight to the nursery.I doubt if there’s any man that hasn't seen his daughter since her birth guaranteed he’s still living with the mother. The door creaked softly as I pushed it open. The room smelled of vanilla and lavender. a soft white light from a night lamp spilled over the rocking chair in the corner, and the woman slept on it.At first, I barely recognized her. Her once shiny
ELENAThe morning sunlight seeped in through the curtain, I winced and stood to close it. But I wasn’t fast enough because a ray had already touched Aurora. She was crying again. I closed the curtains, and carried her in my hands. I sat back on my rocker chair and started humming songs to her. It seemed to work because she stopped crying. I stared at the ceiling , unmoving. My eyes burned, my back ached. I rose slowly and placed her back in her crib. Rosa insisted I should see a doctor.“You need to go for your check up, ma’am. It’s been six weeks.”I didn’t know it had been that long. I haven’t seen or heard from Alessandro in six weeks. This was the most cruel thing and my heart didn't know how long it could take.I didn’t want to go. I didn’t want anyone seeing me and the way I look now. People’s prying eyes were going to haunt me. Some will be bold to ask questions. What if I meet a paparazzi and they take photos of me and caption with the worst headlines? It was all too much.
