She sat quietly while both girls prepared everything. A portable wax heater was plugged in. The warm honey-colored wax slowly melted. Wooden spatulas, cotton strips, baby powder everything was laid neatly. Inaayat looked curious. Nancy volunteered first. She sprinkled powder over her forearm. Urvashi spread a thin layer of warm wax. Nancy inhaled deeply.

"Ready?" Urvashi asked.

"Haan." Nancy nodded. Urvashi gripped the strip.

(Translation: Yes.)

"One...Two...Three." Urvashi counted first.

"Arre beta tum to bahut badi ho gayi ho. Bahut chhoti thi tab tumhe dekha tha." His father said in acknowledgement and she smiled with a small nod. (Translation: Oh my, child, you've grown up so much! You were just a little girl when I last saw you.) "Aur ye Nancy hain hamari dost." Raghu turned toward Nancy. (Translation: And this is Nancy, my friend.) "Namaste." Nancy also greeted them respectfully. (Translation: Hello.) The older couple welcomed both women with the same warmth they had shown Inaayat. There was no judgment. No questions. Just kindness. While everyone exchanged greetings Raghu quietly looked toward Urvashi. "Kuchh khaya aapne?" His voice lowered so only she could hear. (Translation: Did you eat something?) "Nahi." She avoided his eyes. Slowly shook her head. (Translation: No.) "Subah se?" His brows furrowed. (Translation: Since morning?) She remained silent. That was the answer. Without another word he picked up a small plate from the table. Placed a few

Their outfits perfectly complemented one another without trying to steal attention from the bride and groom. Ryker was dressed in a timeless ivory silk kurta paired with matching straight trousers, layered beneath a warm taupe waistcoat adorned with understated silver buttons. The clean tailoring, muted tones, and minimal styling reflected his personality elegant, refined, and effortlessly commanding. A sleek silver watch peeked out from beneath his cuff, the only accessory he wore, proving he never needed extravagance to stand out. Inaayat matched him beautifully in a soft taupe-beige lehenga embellished with delicate floral sequins and fine gold threadwork that shimmered subtly whenever she moved. The broad embroidered border added richness without making the outfit overwhelming. Her sheer dupatta, edged with intricate golden detailing, rested gracefully over her shoulders, while her fresh mehendi and simple gold jewellery completed the look. Holding the folds of her lehenga car

Even Ryker, though outwardly composed, remained constantly alert, his mind never truly leaving Inaayat's safety amid the celebrations. And yet in the middle of all those hearts carrying invisible burdens there was one person smiling with complete innocence. Inaayat. She wandered through the haveli with wonder in her eyes, delighted by every ritual, every decoration, every new face. After years of loneliness, she had found warmth in Raghu's family, felt accepted without questions, and for the first time in a long while, the crowded haveli no longer frightened her. She didn't know about the grief others were quietly carrying. She only knew that, somehow today, the haveli felt a little more like home. As if fate had chosen to place a single untouched ray of sunlight in the middle of a sky filled with gathering clouds. __________ The golden hues of the setting sun filtered through the carved jharokhas of the haveli, painting the room in soft amber light. Outside, the entire mansion ha

The afternoon sun had climbed high over the haveli, making the white marble courtyard shimmer beneath its warmth. The entire mansion had transformed. The decorators were making final adjustments to the floral canopy. Servants hurried with silver trays stacked with sweets and refreshments. The sound of dhol practice echoed from the entrance while photographers moved around capturing candid moments of the family. Tonight Arjun would become a groom. Inside his room the atmosphere was surprisingly calm. Arjun sat comfortably on the sofa near the balcony, dressed only in a white kurta-pajama for the time being. His sherwani still rested elsewhere until it was time to get ready. Across from him, Vishesh leaned back in an armchair with a cup of tea. For the first time that day there was silence. Then Vishesh spoke. "So...You've made up your mind?" Arjun looked at him. "Haan." Arjun sighed quietly. (Translation: Yes.) "Pakka?" Vishesh asked. (Translation: You sure?) "Haan." Arjun mif

Then everyone's attention shifted towards Sunaina. Because she hadn't blinked even once. She simply stared. And stared. And stared. Her mouth slightly parted. Then she dramatically whispered. "Hey Bhagwaan." Sunaina said dramatically. (Translation: Oh god.) "Ab kya hua?" Piya sighed. (Translation: What happened now?) "Ye normal insaan hain ya movie star?" Sunaina placed a hand over her heart. (Translation: Is he a normal person or a movie star?) "Bas shuru ho gayi." Raghu said but Sunaina ignored him. (Translation: And just like that, she started.) "Bhaiya ye itne handsome kaise ho sakte hain?" She looked directly at Ryker. (Translation: How can he be so handsome, bro?) "Aap sach mein real ho?" She asked him, Ryker looked mildly amused. (Translation: Are you really, for real?) He nodded once and the room burst into laughter at her reaction. Sunaina continued dramatically. "Itne lambe hain aur English bhi bolte hain. Haye..." She said placing her hand dramatically on her

The morning sun spilled over the ancient haveli, bathing its sandstone walls in a warm golden glow. The mansion that had witnessed generations of weddings looked more alive than ever before. Strings of fresh marigolds and jasmine swayed gently with the breeze while colorful drapes hung from every balcony. The fragrance of desi ghee, sandalwood incense and fresh flowers lingered in the air. Today was the wedding day. Although the wedding rituals would begin only after sunset, the haveli had been awake since dawn. The courtyard echoed with laughter. Children chased one another between pillars. Women sat in groups discussing jewellery and bridal makeup while occasionally bursting into laughter. Relatives who hadn't met in years hugged one another. Servants hurried around carrying trays of tea, breakfast and sweets. Musicians practiced their instruments somewhere near the entrance. Everyone seemed to have somewhere to be. Everyone except one room. Ryker adjusted the cuff of his ivor
