Chapter 3

ผู้เขียน: Cocojam
Tuesday, 2:47 p.m. An email came through.

It was from Marcello's second-in-command. Marked "URGENT."

"Donna, the boss needs you to deliver a set of arms clearance documents to the executive suite at the casino. 32nd floor, VIP room A."

I stared at the message, my hand tightening around my phone.

Marcello had been cold lately. He wouldn't look at me at breakfast. He'd leave the room to take calls.

For a second, I wondered if this was an olive branch.

Was he trying to bring me back into the business?

The elevator ride to the 32nd floor felt like an eternity.

I clutched the bulletproof briefcase. Inside were the shell-corporation papers I myself had forged to launder the deal.

The irony was staggering.

I was being sent on a delivery-girl errand, carrying documents for a smuggling operation that I secretly controlled.

The hallway was dead quiet.

Room A was at the far end, its armored door slightly ajar.

As I got closer, I heard voices.

Marcello's distinct, low growl, followed by a woman's breathy giggle.

I knocked lightly. "Marcello? I have the documents you wanted."

"Come in," his voice called out, strained.

I pushed the door open and froze.

Marcello had a woman pinned against the roulette table. His pants were around his knees, his hands gripping the edge of the table.

I recognized the woman—the casino manager's daughter. Her skirt was hiked up to her waist.

Neither of them stopped when I walked in.

"Just leave the papers on the side table," Marcello said without even looking at me, his voice tight with exertion. "We're busy."

The woman turned her head. Her face was flushed, but her eyes held a look of cruel, triumphant satisfaction.

"Hi, Donna," she panted. "Sorry, we're just finalizing a very important... negotiation."

The briefcase slipped from my hand. Papers scattered across the floor.

The sound seemed to please them.

Marcello let out a low, animalistic chuckle. The woman let out a high, fake-sounding giggle.

"Watch the papers," Marcello finally glanced at me. "You can't afford to replace them. They're worth more than your monthly clothing allowance."

I dropped to my knees, my hands shaking as I scrambled to pick them up.

As I reached for a sheet that had slid under the table near their feet, my wedding ring caught the light.

The irony of the moment was devastating.

Me, on the floor like a dog, while my husband put on a show for another woman.

"You know what, Seraphina?" Marcello's voice had that familiar Don's command again. "Why don't you wait outside? We'll be done in about twenty minutes."

Twenty minutes. He even had it timed.

I clutched the messy stack of papers and slowly got to my feet. "This shipment docks tomorrow. These need your signature tonight."

"I'll sign them when I have time," he dismissed me. "Close the door on your way out."

The woman's sharp, victorious laugh followed me into the hall.

I stood outside the door for three full minutes, listening to the sounds get louder, before I walked with what little dignity I had left toward the elevator.

But the humiliation wasn't over.

Two days later, another "urgent" delivery.

This time, a territory transfer deed to VIP room B.

Then, a laundering contract to the underground vault.

Each time, the timing was perfect. Each time, the scene was more degrading than the last.

By the fourth time, I understood.

This was a systematic test. A ritual. He was forcing his wife to be an audience to his affairs. Grinding my self-respect into dust.

The breaking point came on Friday afternoon.

I was in my studio, pretending to restore a religious painting. My encrypted device chimed.

Beneath the stack of legitimate files was my real work: intel reports on Marcello's activities.

What I found made my blood freeze.

Marcello had been recording everything.

Not just the sordid scenes in the casino suites, but our private moments, too.

The confessions I’d made to our family priest about my deepest fear—that I could never have a child.

The moments of weakness where I’d admitted how my father’s murder had left me desperate for a real connection.

It was all there. Stored on a private server.

The files were named like Mafia blackmail folders. Cold-blooded.

"Church_Confession-Heir_Weakness_Assessment."

"Father's_Death-Psych_Control_Leverage."

Each folder held hours of secret audio and video.

My hands trembled as I scrolled through them.

One file made me physically sick. It was a recording of me, sobbing in the confessional the night I miscarried at eight weeks.

He had held me so tight that night. He'd whispered that we'd try again when I was ready.

And all the while, he'd paid off the priest to secretly record my breakdown for later use.

I slammed the laptop shut and stumbled to the bathroom, barely making it to the toilet before I threw up.

This kind of betrayal spat on everything the Mafia held sacred. The code against harming family. The vow of silence. Omertà.

When the shaking finally stopped, I went back to the studio and opened the highest-level intrusion program on my encrypted terminal.

If Marcello wanted to play the game of collecting audio leverage, he had no idea what I had at my disposal.

In less than an hour, I had total access to his private server.

Everything he had was now mine to see.

And what I found in his recent communications made everything else feel like child's play.

He'd been sharing the recordings.

Not publicly. He was sharing them with a select group of capos and drug lords.

My most private moments of agony had become entertainment during their private, high-stakes "underground poker nights."

To them, I was just Marcello's amusing little drama queen.

The guest list was a who's who of the city's underworld.

Capos, arms dealers, heirs to old-money families. Men who smiled at me at charity galas and called me "Donna," all while knowing my most intimate pain.

I leaned back in my chair. A cold, final resolve washed over me.

The naive girl who wanted to prove her father wrong about love was well and truly dead.

Marcello thought he was documenting my weakness.

He had no idea he was forging the very weapon that would send him to hell.

"Tear that painting down. It disgusts me."I leaned back in the large leather chair, my voice devoid of all warmth. Two armed Cleaners stepped forward.Without hesitation, they ripped the painting of the suffering Madonna—a symbol of meekness and pity—from the wall.It had been Marcello's favorite. He used to say that my quiet submission was as perfect as the woman in the painting. The heavy frame slammed onto the marble floor.Glass shattered with a piercing crack. The wall slowly rotated.A massive crest was revealed in the morning light. The blood-red and black crown of the Capo dei capi—the boss of all bosses. My father's true family crest. It had been hidden in this room for eighteen long months.Today, it finally saw the light of day again.I stood up and straightened the lapels of my dark, custom-tailored suit.No flowing skirts. No frilly lace. No pathetic decorations designed to please a man. This was my armor. The door opened on time.Silas walked in, his boots crunching on t

"NO! Sera! Please don't put me in there!"The 3 a.m. wind whipped off the East River, cutting like a knife across the abandoned Brooklyn pier.Marcello, like a dog with a broken spine, clawed at the rough concrete floor. His fingernails bent back and split, leaving ten bloody streaks in his wake. Two massive Cleaners grabbed him like a sack of garbage and dragged him to a large, classic Mafia-style oil drum.It was already half-full of wet cement. The sharp, chemical smell mixed with the cold stench of the river water made Marcello piss himself.A dark, foul-smelling stain spread down his expensive trousers.Four high-definition cameras were already in position, their lenses aimed coldly at him.The setup was far more professional than the one he'd used in our bedroom.I stood in the shadows, just outside the glare of the floodlights, and watched him break."Silas. Begin," I said calmly.Silas, at the control console, hit a key.The dark web link with the skull icon was reactivated.Th

I'm your Boss! Sera! Let me see you!"Marcello's raw-throated screams bounced off the empty hallways.I walked down the blood-stained steps, the heels of my custom shoes clicking on the concrete.Silas opened the rusted iron door for me.The single, swinging bulb in the cell was blinding.Marcello was chained to the damp wall. The once-untouchable Don. The man who had laughed at me for the whole world to see.The man who had fucked his mistress on our marriage bed.Now he was in rags, covered in his own filth and dried blood. His mind was completely broken. He looked up at the sound of the door. When he saw me, a wild joy erupted in his bloodshot eyes."Sera! My wife! You finally came!"He lunged forward, the chains digging into the wall, his wrists raw and bloody. He still dared to call me

"Donna, I was wrong! It was just a misunderstanding!"Thomas's scream tore through the dead silence of the ballroom. This was the same casino magnate who had put his hands on me at the last gala. The same man who'd made a slimy pass at me.Now, he was on his knees at the edge of the red carpet, slamming his head against the floor like a dog.His forehead was split open, blood smearing the marble.Silas stood beside him, expressionless, holding a blood-drenched antique Sicilian stiletto. The same hand Thomas had put on my waist was now wrapped in a bloody bandage.Silas had just taken two of his fingers as an "appetizer."The severed digits had been kicked into a corner like trash."Shh," I said, seated on the high-backed chair in the center of the room, gently swirling the red wine in my glass. "You're being too loud, Thomas."Silas's wrist flickered. The hilt of the dagger slammed into Thomas's mouth. The scream stopped, replaced by a muffled whimper as several teeth clattered to the

The sound of choked sobbing filled the air."I never knew it would go this far. You have to believe me. I'm a victim, too."On the massive screen in my studio, Chloe's once-perfect face was swollen and puffy. She was hiding in a cheap, mildew-scented motel room near the Mexican border. The walls were peeling. The light was dim.The once-powerful cartel princess was now covered in filth. Her perfect blonde hair was matted and greasy. After escaping the casino, she probably wished she'd died in there. In one day, her father's cartel, its funds completely cut off, had been devoured by rivals. Her family was gone. Her bank account was emptier than her head. The cops and the mob were both hunting her.But the idiot was still dreaming of a comeback. She was live-streaming from a shattered burner phone."Marcello lied to me!" Chloe wailed at the camera, cheap mascara running down her face. "He told me he and his wife were over! He said she was a crazy bitch! I was just a girl, blinded by love

BAM! Marcello's fist slammed down on the long table, knocking over a glass of whiskey."Who betrayed me? Somebody talk!" his roar echoed through the safe house's panic room.Eight of his remaining Capos sat around the table, staring at each other. The air was thick with suspicion."Boss, they were too fast," a bald Capo who ran the Queens operation said, his voice trembling around his cigar. "Three main docks, hundreds of millions in cash. Gone. In one night. This wasn't an outside job. It has to be a rat.""Then find me the rat!" Marcello's eyes were wild, like a cornered dog's. "I want him skinned alive! I want his bones broken, one by one, and stuffed in a drum in the East River!"He paced back and forth, his chest heaving."When I find who's behind this, I will make them beg for death," he seethed.Just then, a loud, dull thud came from outside. The sound of a heavy boot kicking in a lock.Followed by a loud CRASH!The door was kicked open, slamming against the wall. The eight Capo
