Bella's POV

The rain in London was soft and gray, nothing like the fire I had left behind.

Evelyn led me into a bright dance studio with tall mirrors and a wooden floor that shone like honey. A tall man in a black sweater stood by the window. He turned when we walked in.

"Bella, this is my brother, Sebastian Fernandez," Evelyn said. "He runs a dance company here in the UK."

Sebastian came forward and took my hand in both of his.

"Bella, your dancing has been the greatest inspiration of my career," he said. "I watched every recording of you I could find. It's an honor to finally meet you."

My throat tightened. Nobody had looked at me like that in five years. Like I was worth something.

"Thank you," I whispered.

Evelyn handed me a brown envelope. "This is your new identity, just like you asked."

I opened it. A new passport. A new birth certificate. A new name printed in neat black letters.

"Good." I closed the envelope and lifted my chin. "Starting today, Bella Carter no longer exists. My name is Celine."

Sebastian smiled. "Then welcome, Celine. I look forward to working with you."

I looked at my reflection in the tall mirror. Thin. Pale. Scarred.

But free.

Logan's POV

Why was my heart suddenly racing?

I stood at the front of the castle hall in a black tuxedo. White roses hung from every pillar. Soft music floated through the air. Everything was perfect, just like Ruby wanted.

So why did I feel like something terrible was coming?

"Dad, are you okay?" Sophia touched my arm. "You look pale. Are you feeling sick?"

"I'm fine." I loosened my collar.

Danny checked his phone for the tenth time and groaned. "What is Mom even doing? She's still not here. We're done waiting for her. Let's just start Dad and Mother's wedding."

I nodded at the host.

He stepped up to the microphone and smiled at the guests. "Thank you all for coming. The wedding ceremony of Logan Carter and Ruby Weston is now officially underway."

The guests clapped. Ruby stood at the end of the aisle in a new white gown, glowing and smiling at me.

"But before we begin," the host went on, "we received a very special gift. It was sent by Bella Carter." He held up a white box tied with a red ribbon. "She prepared a surprise for Logan and the children. She asks that the three of them open it together, right here."

The room went quiet. Every head turned toward us.

Bella sent a gift?

I stepped forward to take the box. Ruby rushed down the aisle and caught my arm.

"Logan, wait." Her eyes filled with tears. "Today is our wedding. I've waited so many years for this. All I ever wanted was this one dream." Her voice shook. "Can't you give me a complete wedding first, before dealing with that? Please?"

"Dad, forget the box!" Sophia said loudly. "Mom is trying to ruin everything! She can't stand seeing our family happy!"

"Exactly," Danny said. "What kind of petty, small-minded person sends something like this in the middle of a wedding? She just wants attention."

I looked at the box. Then I looked at Ruby's wet eyes. I pulled my hand back.

"Fine. We'll open it later."

Ruby let out a soft breath and smiled.

The host cleared his throat. "Well. Although our bridesmaid couldn't make it tonight, she did record a song to bless the newlyweds." He lifted a small flash drive from the side of the box. "Shall we hear it?"

The guests clapped again. Ruby's smile froze.

"No, wait—"

The host had already plugged it in. The speakers crackled.

There was no song.

"*I'm curious,*" a woman's voice said, calm and clear. "*You went to all that trouble to send me to jail. Then you paid people to beat me in there for five years. Why?*"

My blood turned cold.

A woman in the front row gasped. "That sounds like Bella's voice."

"Sent her to jail?" someone whispered. "Paid people to beat her? Was Bella framed?"

Then a second voice came through the speakers. Sweet. Smug. Laughing.

"*To take everything you have, obviously.*"

The whole hall went silent.

Every eye in the room turned to the bride.

"And that," an old man said slowly, "is Ruby's voice."

Ruby's face went white as her gown. "No! No, that's not my voice!" She grabbed my arm with both hands. "Logan, it's fake! She made it up! Someone faked it to hurt me!"

I couldn't move. I couldn't breathe.

*Paid people to beat me in there.*

The bruises on Bella's arm on the day she came home. The way she flinched when I touched her. The way she stopped crying.

"Faked?" A guest near the back laughed coldly. "How exactly does someone fake a whole conversation in your voice?"

"Dad." Danny's voice cracked. "Dad, that's not true. Right? Mother wouldn't—"

Sophia stood frozen beside him, staring at Ruby like she had never seen her before.

Then the big wooden doors at the back of the hall swung open.

A large woman walked in, wearing a cheap leather jacket and heavy boots. Her hair was cut short, and a long scar ran down one cheek. She strolled straight down the aisle like she owned the place, her boots loud on the stone floor.

She stopped in front of Ruby and grinned.

"Hey, Ruby," she said. "Long time no see."

Ruby's hands fell from my arm. Her lips trembled. All the color drained from her face.

It was Big Rhonda.

The woman from Bella's prison.

Logan's POVI had a terrifying feeling in my chest, like a hand was squeezing my heart and wouldn't let go."Drive faster!" I shouted at the driver. "Faster, damn it!"The car flew down the dark road. Trees whipped past the windows. In the back seat, Sophia held her phone so tight her knuckles were white."Mom will be fine," Danny said. He kept saying it, over and over. "They must have made a mistake. It has to be someone with the same name. Or maybe she dropped her passport, and someone else picked it up.""Yes." Sophia nodded too fast. "That has to be it. The police made a mistake.""It can't be her," Danny said. "It absolutely can't be her."I pressed my forehead to the cold window and closed my eyes.*God, I am begging you. Please don't let Bella die. Take anything from me. Just not her.*Red and blue lights flashed ahead of us. Fire trucks. Police cars. Yellow tape across the road. The car hadn't even stopped before I threw the door open and ran.The smell hit me first. Logan's POV"The voices on that recording are clearly yours and Bella's." I stepped closer to Ruby. "How dare you still deny it?""Logan, please—""She is the love of my life!" My shout rang off the stone walls. "How dare you? How dare you destroy her like this?"Ruby flinched. Behind her, the guests went completely still."Five years." My voice cracked. "She lived through something worse than death for five years, while you played our whole family for fools. You made me send her to prison with my own hands. I stood in that courtroom and swore against my own wife." I pressed my fist to my chest. "I dirtied my soul for you so badly that I'll never be clean again. Not for as long as I live.""No! I was framed!" Ruby shook her head wildly. "I didn't do it! Logan, I swear I didn't do it!"I turned away from her."Security!"Two men in black suits ran down the aisle."Hold her until the police get here," I said. "I want her in prison. Tonight."They grabbed Ruby's arms. She twisted and kic

Logan's POV"Logan, none of this is true."Ruby grabbed the front of my jacket with both hands. Her whole body was shaking."How could I ever do something so horrible? She's lying!" She spun toward Rhonda and pointed a trembling finger. "You're just a convict! Why should anyone believe a single word you say?"For a second, nobody moved. Then Danny stepped forward."Exactly." His voice was shaky, but he made it loud. "Dad, if you told me Mom did something this evil, I'd actually believe it. But Aunt Ruby? She could never do something so disgusting."I stared at my son. Five minutes ago, he heard Ruby wish him dead. And still, he was standing in front of her like a shield."Logan, do you hear that?" Ruby sobbed. "They believe me. Our children believe me. I'm being framed!"Sophia wiped her wet face and moved to Ruby's other side."Dad, you know how kind Auntie is. She wouldn't even step on an ant. It's impossible for her to do this.""Yeah," Danny said. "Mom just had to bite back one la

Logan's POV"Oh, darling, it's been far too long."Big Rhonda spread her arms wide like she wanted a hug. Ruby stepped back so fast she nearly tripped over her own gown."Thanks to that massive pile of cash you gave me," Rhonda said, "my life in prison these past few years was a total breeze."The guests began to murmur."Cash?" I heard my own voice, rough and strange. "What cash?"Rhonda turned to me and raised one thick eyebrow. "Oh? She didn't tell her family?" She looked at Danny and Sophia and grinned. "Five years ago, your mother... wait, sorry. I mean your *stepmother*." She pointed at Ruby. "She paid me a fortune to torture her enemy in prison. Your real mother. Bella Carter."Sophia's hand flew to her mouth."You're lying!" Ruby screamed. "I don't even know who you are!""You don't know me?" Rhonda laughed. "It hasn't been that long, sweetheart. Have you also forgotten how you humiliated Bella in there?"She pulled out her phone and walked straight to the big screen behind th

Bella's POV This was my last night in this house. I sat on the edge of my bed and looked around the room. Ten years of my life lived inside these walls. Now everything I owned fit into one small suitcase. My phone buzzed. I answered on the first ring. "Bella, your flight is at eight tomorrow night," Evelyn said. "Do you want me to pick you up?" "No. I'll get there myself." "Are you sure?" "Very sure." I looked at the door. "There's something I have to finish first." I had just hung up when the door swung open without a knock. Ruby walked in holding a long white gown against her body. Blue stones covered the bodice and caught the light like a thousand tiny stars. In her other hand was the wooden music box. "Bella, look." She turned in a slow circle. "Your daughter ordered this gown for me. Beautiful, right?" I smiled. Her face twisted. "What are you smiling at? The man you've loved for over twenty years is marrying me tomorrow." I said nothing. She lifted the music box a
