EVERYTHING IS NOT FINE!
I’m still in the middle of my first lap when I greedily heaved for air. So much for ‘just try to keep your breathing stable.’ My lungs are bleeding while the world spun. There was agitation that spread throughout my body as my mind dreadfully warns me of incoming nausea.
For the first seconds of my lap, I jogged at a steady pace and had even breathing. I was overconfident that I can finish those laps without my lungs collapsing. However, that mean prince caught up to my pace and insulted my pathetic attempt at running. He pushed me to run faster, then ran ahead.
My hate for cardio surpassed my hate for people who touch my things without permission.
When I tried to slow down and catch my breath, an arrow shot past me. It’s only then I realized I’m already on the left side of the field and the people are now facing me while they aimed their weapons in my direction. I saw the mean prince behind them and it triggered my figh
New character: Unlocked ^_^ I hope you're enjoying my story! Comments are very much appreciated!
Staying still proved to be a difficult task for me, as anxious thoughts caused worms to crawl all over my body. Judging by the current timeline I’m in, it’s easier to frame people with simple things such as this damn pouch. ‘My death sentence might come sooner just because of my clumsiness.’ I didn’t bother to check its contents. The lesser I know, the better. As I continued pacing around the room, the air gets heavier and harder to breathe in. With the loss of air, the negative thoughts easily terrorized my brain and make things look worse than they already were. I winced when my arms started to sting, but that’s the least of my worries. Maybe, anytime from now, someone will barge in through that door and throw me into their prison. Or they’re just waiting for me to come out, then seize me. If I were imprisoned… Oh no… Don’t get me started with various things they’ll do to me. TOO LATE, MY BRAIN ALREADY STARTED TO THINK OF THOSE. OH,
As usual, I’ll never see Vaughn for the entire day. I walked alone to the training area ahead of everyone. Well, I hoped I’m early enough to bask in the field's peacefulness without the bloody training and the mean prince. I lost all hope when he was already there, running on the other side of the field. I quickly hid behind the tree, hoping that he didn’t see me. I sat on the roots of the tree and played with the snow. The woods in front of me are scary because it was still dusk. Though, I would choose the scary woods over the mean prince. Even if I were to walkbravely into the field, my body passionately rejects the idea. Hoping is a futile thing to do this morning. This was proved when the mean prince suddenly appeared in thin air. I frantically stood up straight and greeted him. He only smiled fakely at me before glaring. “100 pushups.” And that’s how you ruin my mood: be the mean prince. He knew that I have weak arms and can barely
I’ve been curious about the feeling of meeting a person who did a violent crime. I thought it’s also how you meet new people in your daily life, but it’s far from that. My breath hitched as soon as I met his eyes. All my muscles were tight, and I was ready to run, but I was too ready that I can’t move in my spot. I wanted to scream, but the fear lodged down my throat stole my voice, and it only left my mouth to fall open. My breathing became more ragged, and my body continued to tremble uncontrollably while I can’t take my eyes away from him as I wait in fear for his next move. ‘Oh shit, shit, shit…’ my brain chanted with the fear of the unknown. His silence and lack of response only worsened my anxiety. He looked me over with a scrutinizing gaze, his face still devoid of emotions. I flinched when he clicked his tongue while his eyes turned colder. My eyes teared up. Other than the immense fear I have, I’m profoundly frustrated that
Hoping yesterday proved to be useless when only the opposite of what I hoped happened. I should’ve learned from that before I hoped for a calm tomorrow last night because EVERYTHING WAS NOT CALM AT ALL!The banging and loud shouts outside disturbed my sleep. While I was groggy from the disturbance, Vaughn seemed alert.I almost jumped out of my skin when the door burst open, revealing a tensed soldier wearing his complete armor. The anxiety radiating from him rubbed on me and it woke me up. Even with his immense nervousness, he never forgot to treat us with hostility. He left after informing us that there were invaders inside the kingdom and Prince Jayden ordered us to protect the districts. I still didn’t understand the weight of the situation, but it’s enough to alert every nerve on my body.I looked at Vaughn with my wrinkled brows as I conveyed the uneasiness and worry I felt through my wide eyes. He pressed his lips and grimaced sli
After we crossed the bridge, another obstacle tested my courage. The bridge only connected to the side of the other cliff, only giving a small space to stand after crossing the bridge. Then the only way up to a stable ground was through the narrow pathway stuck on the wall. It was so narrow that you have to walk sideways and pray. The best part? It doesn’t have safety railings or nets to catch you if you fall to your death! Ok! I give up! Just leave me here! Vaughn took the hint of my surrender, so he pushed me to the narrow pathway and blocked me from going back to the small safe space. 3RD PERSON’S POV: Vaughn and Maisie weren’t even halfway through their journey up the cliff, but Maisie continued shouting while passing the narrow path. She held to the wall with her dear life while she walked like an awkward crab with trembling limbs and her bottom stuck out, as if she were stuck midway
Meanwhile, Maisie’s panic grew as she went deeper inside the woods. She might’ve survived from those guards, but she knows she can’t survive alone in the woods. That’s a problem she left for her future self to worry about because she needs to survive first right now. She never looked back and continued to run. That was a vital mistake she made. While not looking back won’t slow her down or cause her to panic, she failed to notice that the two guards have split up. She was too focused on her unknown destination that she didn’t notice another body rushing towards her. It was too late for her to avoid as the body collided with her and crushed her to the ground. She wheezed at the sudden impact on her lungs. She swatted the person above her repeatedly while pulling his hair out of fear. The poor person had to shout to gain her attention, but Maisie didn’t stop. Vaughn ran out of patience and held both of her wrists and pinned her down on the ground. Maisi
1ST PERSON’S POV: “I… I can’t… I know you’re mad—” “VERY FRUSTRATED.” He cut me off before looking away and exhaled deeply through his nose. He’s sulking… Like a child… I tried to control my facial expressions to avoid pissing him off. Though my heart felt warm with this new side I’m witnessing. I wanted to explain myself, but words refused to come out and my mouth ended up awkwardly ajar. Silence became louder as we stayed still in our spot. He sat there with his arms crossed while I stood in front of him with a dripping cloth in my hand. My eyes locked on a certain spot before zoning out. Everything felt surreal. I survived a riot without killing someone (hopefully), and two attacks! “A-a… o…” I stopped zoning out when I heard sounds coming out of his mouth that I cannot understand. He’s barfing the words that want to be puked out. I watched him squirm on his sit as he struggled to form a coherent sent
1ST PERSON’S POV: I knew the guards dragged me to who knows where, but I slept halfway through it. My eyes closed as soon as I tried to open it. The mental and physical exhaustion I experienced yesterday still drained the life out of me. Though I peeked at where I was and saw the field. My senses slowly crawled their way towards me until it finally registered in my brain that they rigidly tied me to a pole slightly thinner than me. This pulled my shoulders back awkwardly. I can only dread the upcoming soreness later- if they were to free me. My teeth were already chattering while the harsh coldness of winter gnawed at my face. I forced my eyes to open to have a better view of my current situation. The angry face of the mean prince first entered my sight. His whole body was stiff, with some veins bulging on his neck. ‘Heh… Bulging…’ I do not know how he scowls every second of the day without gett
