Chapter 1

"Since you think he's so peerlessly handsome, you can have this incredible blessing, Sylvia."

I looked at Sylvia coldly, a mocking curve lifting the corner of my mouth.

The smile on Sylvia Spruance's face froze.

Her eyes widened in disbelief, as if she had just heard something impossible.

"Sienna, what... what are you saying?"

Her eyes reddened at once, tears appearing as easily as breathing. She looked fragile enough to break.

"I only felt sorry for him. You're the firstborn daughter. Of course you should choose first. How would I dare overstep?"

Looking at that performance made my stomach turn.

She had said the same thing in my last life.

With a few moralizing words, she had forced me to choose that black fox, Nox, who could not even take human form.

She herself had calmly chosen Julian Frost, the four-tailed white fox, and stepped into endless glory.

I exhausted my strength feeding Nox with my own source energy, helping him take human form and supporting his cultivation.

And what did I get in return?

The first thing he did after transforming was carve out my inner core and offer it to Sylvia.

He stepped over my corpse and said to Sylvia with deep, tender devotion, "Sylvie, this venomous woman was the one standing between us. Now I've given you all her cultivation. We can finally be together."

I still remembered the pain of my chest being split open alive.

How could I possibly repeat the same mistake in this life?

"If you don't dare overstep, then shut your mouth."

I cut off her false innocence without mercy.

"Your Majesty." I turned toward the Fox King seated high upon the throne and gave him a shallow bow.

"I, Sienna Spruance, wish to form a bond with His Highness Julian Frost. I ask the Fox King to grant it."

The moment I said that, the entire hall fell silent.

The Fox King froze, clearly not expecting me to decide so quickly.

Sylvia panicked first. She grabbed my sleeve.

"Sienna! His Highness is a four-tailed white fox. How can you choose him?"

"Why can't I?" I shook her hand off and looked down at her.

"I am the firstborn daughter of the Moonridge Court and a descendant of the purest nine-tailed fox bloodline. If I don't choose the four-tailed white fox, should I choose that black fox who hasn't even grown his fur in properly?"

Sylvia had no answer. She could only bite her lip hard, a flash of poison passing through her eyes.

The black fox lying in the corner suddenly raised his head and stared straight at me.

His gaze was sinister, violent, and full of nauseating greed.

I sneered and looked away.

"Good! Good! Good!" The Fox King finally came back to himself and said "good" three times.

"Sienna, you have excellent judgment. Julian, come greet your future wife."

Julian Frost, who had been standing beside the Fox King like an ice sculpture, finally moved.

He walked slowly to me and looked down at me.

His eyes were cold, without a trace of warmth, as though he were looking at a lifeless object.

"Are you certain you want to choose me?" His voice was low and magnetic, but distant enough to keep the world at arm's length.

"I'm certain." I met his eyes without flinching.

"Good."

He said only that one word, then turned away without looking at me again.

When Sylvia saw this, her eyes shifted. She immediately stepped forward.

"Your Majesty, since Sienna has chosen His Highness, then I... I will choose the younger prince."

She pointed toward the black fox, wearing a look of self-sacrificing compassion.

"I can't bear to see him alone and unwanted. I am willing to care for him for the rest of my life."

The Fox King sighed, appreciation flashing in his eyes.

"Sylvia truly is a kind child. Since that is so, these two bonds are settled."

I looked at Sylvia's smug face and laughed coldly in my heart.

Kind?

I hope you can keep smiling so kindly when he drains every drop of your spiritual power.

"Sienna, we are sisters, and from now on, we'll also be sisters-in-law. You must take good care of me." Sylvia walked to my side and lowered her voice.

I listened without the slightest ripple in my heart, as though hearing the story of a stranger."Evil brings its own ruin," I said lightly."Should I send someone to..." Julian made a cutting motion across his throat."No." I shook my head."Let her live. Death would be too cheap for her. Letting her drag out a miserable existence like a rat in a gutter is the best punishment."I closed the ancient text and looked at the bright sunlight outside the window. The shadows of my last life had finally dispersed. My life had truly entered the light."Sienna." Julian suddenly called my name, his tone turning serious."What is it?" I turned to look at him.He looked into my eyes and said gravely, "Actually, there's something I never told you.""What?" My heart tightened."Before the mate-selection ceremony, I had a dream," he said slowly, his eyes deep."I dreamed you chose that black fox. I dreamed he carved out your inner core. I dreamed you died miserably in front of Sylvia."I

"Sienna, I want the entire Fox Clan to know that you are my wife. I want you to stand beside me in name and truth and share this boundless glory with me."My heart involuntarily skipped as I looked at him."Are you sure? I'm a vicious woman who doesn't even spare her own sister." I tested him half jokingly."Perfect." A wicked smile curved his lips."I'm a cold-blooded tyrant who kills without blinking. The two of us are clearly a match made by heaven."After saying that, he lifted me into his arms and strode outside."What are you doing? Put me down!" I cried, instinctively wrapping my arms around his neck."We're going to see the Fox King and set a date," he said with complete righteousness. One month later, Moonridge and the Fox Clan held the bonding ceremony as scheduled. It was grand beyond anything seen before.Music drifted from the heavens, and spiritual blossoms rained down across the sky.I wore a flowing crimson bridal gown and a jeweled crown, walking toward the

"Sienna, I know I was wrong. Please save me. He's gone mad. He's a monster."I folded my arms and looked down at her."Save you? Sylvia, this is the path you chose. Even if you have to crawl, you should finish it."I smiled faintly. My voice was gentle enough to be terrifying."Didn't you say he had extraordinary talent and would soar one day? What is a little sacrifice of source energy now? When he rises to power in the future, he'll surely repay you well.""No! I don't want it anymore. I don't want anything anymore."Sylvia's face was already white as paper. Spiritual power was draining from her body at a visible speed, and her nine fox tails were showing faint signs of degeneration."Sienna, I beg you. Open the cell door. As long as you save me, I'll listen to you in everything from now on.""Too late."I spat out the two words coldly."Sylvia, when you worked with him to frame me, why didn't you think this day might come? When you stole my premium spirit stones to pour th

His tone was overbearing and left no room for argument.Looking at his serious expression, a complicated feeling suddenly rose in my heart. In my last life, Nox betrayed me, and I died miserably before Sylvia. I thought I would never believe in men again. But now, faced with Julian's forceful confession, I did not feel disgusted.Instead, there was even a trace of... peace? While I was dazed, hurried knocking came from outside."Miss! Something's wrong. Miss Sylvia... she went to the death prison!"The maid's voice was full of panic.I pushed Julian away and frowned."What is she doing in the death prison?""I don't know. I only heard that Miss Sylvia took many premium spirit stones with her. It seems she's trying to save Nox."I laughed coldly.Save Nox?With her tiny bit of cultivation, she thought she could break someone out of Moonridge's death prison?"Let's go. I want to see what trick my dear sister is playing this time."I straightened my clothes and strode out.

I turned toward the Grand Elder, whose face was as pale as death."Grand Elder, isn't that right?"The Grand Elder shuddered and nodded frantically."Yes, yes. Sienna is right. Nox destroyed the sacred relic. His crime is unforgivable. Men, drag him away and lock him in the death prison."Several guards immediately stepped forward and dragged Nox away like a dead dog.Sylvia clung tightly to Nox's hand, but a guard kicked her away without pity."Sylvie! Save me! Sylvie, save me!" Nox's desperate cries echoed through the square and gradually faded.Sylvia sat collapsed on the ground, her eyes empty, as if her soul had been taken. She could not understand it. She clearly believed herself to be the heroine favored by fate. How had the story become like this?I walked to her and looked down at her."Sylvia, your good days have only just begun."I said it softly, in a voice only the two of us could hear.Sylvia jerked her head up and looked at me in terror, as though she were lo

The Spirit-Gathering Pearl gave a mournful hum as a crack appeared across its surface.Sylvia kept watch beside him, muttering anxiously, "Nox, hurry up. As long as we shatter the Spirit-Gathering Pearl and frame Sienna tomorrow, she'll be finished. Then all of Moonridge's resources will be ours."The image ended there. The entire square went deathly silent.Everyone stared at Sylvia and Nox in disbelief."No! This isn't real! It's fake! Sienna forged it!" Sylvia screamed and rushed forward, trying to snatch the recording crystal from my hand.I slapped her across the face.Smack!I used my full strength. The blow sent Sylvia flying. She crashed heavily to the ground and spat out blood."Forged? Their spiritual traces are still on this crystal. Do you think everyone here is blind?"My voice was sharp as a blade. My gaze swept over the Grand Elder."Grand Elder, now that witness and evidence are both present, what do you have to say?"The Grand Elder trembled all over, his f
