Teresa

When the sun gave up on the sky, my legs grew weak.

Using the secret spot that Keller and Bennett suggested went a long way. There was no cause to run into bandits, and I didn’t encounter any ferals.

But my body was screaming for rest. I’d not arrived, and I’ll need to recharge if I’m going to be able to continue.

The land where I was felt different.

The ground, the air, the smell of earth, and the wind all felt different. It seemed like everything around me was leased, and it felt awkward.

In an instant, everything Keller and Bennett said hit me. Maybe this entire journey was a mistake. How long would it take for someone to notice me and how different I am and then take action?

Worst case, I didn’t have a wolf. How was I supposed to defend myself?

I may be immune to wolfsbane and silver, but that already further complicated things.

I exhaled, the exhaustion taking over my body growing stronger and stronger. I’d need a break if I’m going to continue this journey with a sa

TeresaConnecting with Tanya seemed too easy. With the acquaintance in place, I thought I should push the relationship a little further. Because the Luna always dismissed me early, leaving me with so much time for myself, I decided to leverage it to get closer to Tanya. When Luna dismissed me way too early today, stating that she’d need my help in the evening, I was full of joy. After marking a reasonable amount of time, I strolled to the garden where I found Tanya and the Alpha’s daughter the other day. Lady Arin had left the training for the garden, and in making acquaintance with Tanya, she asked me to tag along. When I arrived, I stood at a hidden corner and just watched. Lady Arin was having her afternoon brunch as usual. Or as Tanya claimed she used to.They were having a conversation, and Lady Arin was very ecstatic. Tanya, on the other hand, wasn’t ‘feeling’ the conversation. It was obvious from the subtlety of her body language that this was the last place she wanted to

KellerAt first, I tried to be normal, to act normal to feel normal after Teresa’s departure. It was easier on the first day to do it. But as the days went on and I came face to face with the reality that she was really gone. I struggled with it. Sometimes, I looked at Bennett and wonder how he can power through the day, and I don’t know what to say. He seemed to have everything under control, until we talked about it. And the moment we were done, he seemed to have a way to carry on. His resilience was crazy, one to reckon with, and I wished I had that kind too.It had been over a week now, and we still hadn’t heard from Teresa. And the fact that she was out and away from us, was the huge pain. Seven days away from us. We had no clue what she was going through. Our proof of life was that she was alive. Seven days of silence, seven nights of waking up to a normal day only to realize that the day wasn’t normal at all. That there was nothing normal about our day. That the proof of

TeresaWhen the Luna asked her husband to let me work, for a moment, I thought that was going to be another round of hell, but the whole thing turned out to be what I didn’t expect at all. At first, she gave me a good tour of the Alpha house that evening, chatting and laughing all the way. I wondered if she was intentionally trying to create a connection or if this was one of her tactics to make me feel at home before the real fire began to burn, but the next day proved to me, in fact, that I was wrong. I’d braced myself for sharp voices and endless orders, and maybe some form of disguised humiliation in the form of a need for duty, but I didn’t meet any of those. On the contrary, my days were controlled and quiet, almost to the point of being careful. The Luna moved around the house like a soft current of electricity. Always radiating power, but didn’t have to do so much to prove her presence. It was attractive. Her requests were polite and soft, and her expectations were never

Teresa The men dragged me into a room of brick, forcing me to my knees. The air around me was stale and reeked of wet earth and ancient. A small, dim light illuminated the room, and I could barely make out the faces of the men who brought me in here and the men I was answering to.“What do you want from us?” The man before me asked. He looked like someone carved out of a rock, with all the muscles in the right places. He would be a darling if he didn’t have the large, rough scar that went across his skin and didn't look like a frown was his neutral face.“I’m a weary woman looking for greener pastures in your land,” I replied. It was the perfect lie to get anyone off my back. “I was hoping you would grant me a space in your pack so I can change my life.”“A person coming to a land for greener pastures would arrive in the day,” the man cooed. “Why the hell will you arrive at night? What makes you think

TeresaThe warmth from Keller’s hand travelled into my skin as the car continued down the rocky path, rocking us gently in our seats. For a moment, the silence in the car was almost deafening before Bennett spoke.“I know we didn’t agree to this, Teresa,” Bennett started. “But we’re going to take you past the neutral ground.”I locked eyes with his reflection in the rear-view mirror. “Doesn’t that put you at risk?”“Not in the slightest, “ Keller replied under his breath. “But helps you cover more ground. You wouldn’t have much to worry about.”At this point, I wished I could drive. Because of the way my mother treated me, I didn’t get the opportunity to learn survival skills that were necessary for the common omega, like driving. If I could drive, heading to my destination would be faster. But I’d have to stick with walking, and hope I don’t run into rogues and ferals before I meet the actual challenge of this journey. The silence that followed as the drive kept going dropped like
