Chapter 2

Author: Crystal K
I turned and walked away.

Nyx was still ranting.

"Besides that bastard Ethan, Clara needs to be taught a lesson. You were so good to her, and she dared to betray you!"

I stared coldly in the direction of Clara's home, lost in thought.

Clara. A fragile Omega, once just another face in the pack. Bullied relentlessly.

I saved her from a pack bully, and she clung to me for weeks, begging to be my apprentice. She swore she had no talent, that she'd do anything to learn, just to serve me. To stay by my side.

I saw my own desperate past in her eyes, so I took her in.

After all, Omegas had it so hard in our world.

I brought her into my lab. I taught her to craft my elixirs. I gave her opportunities to walk among the pack's nobility.

I told her that being an Omega was her rank, not her future.

She transformed from a timid girl into a confident woman, mastering formulas only top-tier Betas could handle.

She promised to be my best assistant. She swore a lifetime of loyalty.

But I never imagined she would use that confidence to seduce my fated mate.

The next morning, I was walking through the manor's garden path when I overheard some of the younger pack members talking.

"Did you hear Samara is going to choose that cursed Alpha from the Blackwood?"

"No way! She loves Alpha Ethan. Remember? Her early famous works, 'First Love' and 'Spring Dream,' were all inspired by her love for him."

"Yeah, she said it herself. Every time she smells the mint on Ethan, she gets an urge to create."

Mia let out a sweet sigh inside me. Those beautiful memories were real.

But Nyx sneered, "Foolish! That scent was just an act he put on for you!"

Footsteps interrupted my thoughts. "Samara."

Ethan emerged from behind the trees, with Clara by his side.

There she was, the delicate Omega girl, head bowed and eyes welling with tears.

"I'm so sorry, Samara. I bumped into Alpha Ethan in the manor yesterday. He must have picked up my scent then. If I've upset you, I will leave Crescent Moon territory."

Her voice quivered with false sorrow.

What an actress.

"That won't be necessary," I said, my voice flat. "I know it was a misunderstanding."

Clara let out a breath, a grateful smile spreading across her face.

"Thank you. As an apology, I crafted a new elixir for you."

She pulled a delicate vial from her purse.

"It's my attempt at your 'Morning Dew' formula. My skills are nothing compared to yours, but I wanted to show my sincerity."

Then, her hand "slipped."

The glass vial fell to the floor and shattered.

The liquid sprayed across the hem of my dress.

Nyx shrieked in my head, "What is that stuff?! She didn't move against you so openly this early in our last life!"

She screamed for me to dodge, but it was too late.

Instantly, a sharp, acrid smell burned my nose.

Horror washed over my face.

In that single moment, every scent around me—the rich fragrance of the earth, the sweetness of the flowers, even the mint on Ethan—was rapidly fading, becoming blurred!

"Wolfsbane!" I growled in horror. "You didn't use a normal essential oil. This is a purified extract!"

As a top-tier perfumer, I knew better than anyone that a high concentration of wolfsbane extract can paralyze a werewolf's senses. Especially our most prized sense: smell!

Clara immediately burst into tears.

"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I was just so nervous!"

Ethan pulled her behind him, looking at me warily. "Samara, don't make a big deal out of this. It was an accident."

"An accident?" I sneered, pressing my hand to my forehead.

The world of scents was leaving me.

Panic, like a cold vine, wrapped around my heart.

"Adding wolfsbane to a perfume, what kind of accident is that?"

"What are you talking about?" Ethan frowned. "How would Clara even know about wolfsbane? She's just an ordinary Omega!"

Clara cried even harder. "I really don't know what wolfsbane is! I just wanted to make a perfume similar to yours!"

"So you're saying I'm framing you?" I could feel the liquid on my dress burning my skin.

I rushed towards the pond, not just to treat the burn.

I pulled out a vial of rose oil from my pocket and held it to my nose, but all I could smell was a vague, chemical flatness.

I tried sandalwood, then bergamot…

In my nose, they had lost all their layers, their soul.

They were just meaningless symbols.

My world—a universe built from a billion scents—was collapsing.

Fear turned my blood to ice.

Clara and Ethan. They didn't just want to kill me.

They wanted to destroy my soul first.

"Enough!" Ethan snapped. "You're using your status to bully an innocent Omega. Is this how the Crescent Moon heir behaves?"

His words were like a needle, striking a nerve.

Inside me, Mia whimpered in sorrow, hurt by her mate's accusation.

But Nyx howled in fury, "He's protecting the woman who wants to kill you, and he's blaming you! Tear them apart!"

The emotions of my two wolves merged in an instant.

Grief and rage twisted together, turning into pure killing intent.

I slowly stood up, my bloodline's power flooding out of me like a tidal wave.

I shifted, slamming Clara to the ground in a blur of fur. My paws pinned her fragile body.

"You know exactly what wolfsbane does to an elixir crafter," I snarled. "Are you trying to kill me?!"

In the joint tribunal hall of the Crescent Moon and Blackwood packs, Ethan and Clara were thrown to the floor. The once-mighty Alpha Magnus, deposed for betraying the four packs, knelt beside them. Arthur and I sat on the high throne, looking down on them.I advanced on Clara, each step a promise of death."Tell me, Clara. Your first big success, the 'Sweet Dream' formula. Who gave it to you?"Her body began to tremble."It... it was you...""Who taught you the basics of crafting?""You...""Who protected you when the other Omegas shunned you?""It was you..."My hand shot toward her throat."And you dare use the very skills I taught you to try and kill me? You dare betray me?"Clara trembled, crawling towards me. "Luna Samara, I was wrong, I'll never do it again, I beg you..."I looked down at her, toying with a small perfume bottle. "Clara, didn't you always want a unique scent?" I smiled, sprinkling the liquid from the bottle onto her. "I'll grant your wish."Instantly, an indesc

Arthur’s golden eyes were like burning suns, dangerous and blazing hot. He slowly pulled his hand back, leaving a warm smear of blood on my fingertips."We're going home," he rasped, his voice rough as sandpaper. "Now."I nodded, completely intoxicated by the scent of bloody cedar. Ethan was still yelling something in the background, but neither of us cared.Three days later, the official Mating Ceremony for the Blackwood and Crescent Moon packs was held under the full moon. On the ancient ceremonial platform, I stood in a silver-white bonding gown, waiting for my Alpha. Arthur emerged from the darkness, every step radiating a king's authority. His hand had healed, but a scar remained. My mark on him."Are you ready?" the Elder asked me."I am."The ceremony went smoothly. When Arthur's teeth gently bit into my neck, leaving the eternal mating mark, both wolves inside me let out a satisfied purr.“It is done, ” Nyx's voice was calmer than I'd ever heard it. “We are safe.”The ritu

It was the opening night of the perfumery exhibit we had sponsored at the city's most prestigious gallery.I was poured into a gown of midnight-blue silk, and Arthur was a dark god beside me in a tailored black suit. His hand never left the small of my back—a silent, possessive claim for all to see."Relax," he whispered in my ear. "Tonight is all about you."The gallery was filled with fragrance. The twelve perfumes I had painstakingly created were on display. Each one told a different story, a different emotion."Samara!" A familiar voice.I turned to see Ethan and Clara approaching. Ethan wore an expensive custom suit. Clara clung to his arm, but her face held a poorly hidden mix of jealousy and anxiety. Because every piece on display tonight had reached a level of artistry she couldn't even hope to imitate. Especially the main feature, 'Nyx's Breath.' Its complex layers and soul-stirring scent made all her own creations look like cheap knock-offs."I'm surprised to see you her

The banquet was still going, but I needed to be alone. I walked out onto the manor’s back terrace, where moonlight spilled like water over the stone railing. Everything that had happened tonight had my head spinning.Footsteps behind me. Heavy, hurried, filled with desperate anger."Samara!" His voice was a raw, broken thing.I didn't turn. "What is it?""How could you?" He cornered me against the railing, his eyes wild and bloodshot. "I am your destiny! The Goddess chose me! You threw it all away for him?"I didn't even look at him. I just stared out at the moon. He was still painfully handsome, a fallen prince in the silver light. But all I could see was the madness twisting his features."Destiny?" I finally met his gaze, my voice flat. "Are you done playing games with the bond, Ethan?"His face went pale. "I don't know what you're talking about.""Are you done with your little act, Ethan?" I advanced on him, my voice dangerously soft. "The bond. You feel it, don't you? You fli

My gaze swept over the sea of faces, finally landing on the shadow in the corner. I raised my chin."I choose Alpha Arthur of the Blackwood Pack!"My voice rang out like a bell, clear and unwavering, shattering the silence of the hall.Everyone froze, as if they couldn't believe their ears. Magnus shot to his feet, his face turning beet red."Impossible! You're insane!"The other Alphas exchanged shocked glances, and murmurs erupted through the crowd."The Blackwood? The cursed pack?""How could she choose a man who won't live past twenty-five?""Is the Crescent Moon Pack trying to destroy itself?"I ignored the chaos and repeated my choice. "I, in my name as the Crescent Moon heir, officially declare—I choose Arthur."Then, I walked towards him. Step by step, unwavering.Arthur sat there, a mountain of silent shadow and muscle. His towering frame swallowed the candlelight, shrouding his corner of the hall in darkness. His golden eyes were locked on me, his expression unreadable.I

After the attack, the manor was in chaos. My father's face was as dark as a storm cloud."Get Ethan in here!" he roared at the guards. "Now!"Ten minutes later, Ethan was dragged into the conference room. There wasn't a trace of guilt on his face, only his usual, entitled arrogance."You abandoned my daughter during an attack," my father's voice was sharp as a blade of ice. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you where you stand."Ethan scoffed. "Abandon her? I was following standard emergency protocol. Protecting the weaker Omega.""Omega?" I sneered. "Clara was more important than me?""Of course," he said, not even trying to hide it. "She's an innocent civilian. You have a wolf to protect you. I made the most logical choice."The air in the room froze. My father's Alpha power crashed down, forcing the Betas in the room to their knees. Only Ethan remained standing, but sweat was already beading on his forehead."The most logical choice?" my father repeated, his voice dan
