Caleb’s POV

I was seated in my study, wearing a triumphant smile that I didn’t bother to hide. I held my smartphone tightly against my ear, listening to the voice of Julian as he filled me in on our progress so far.

"The board is practically eating out of the palm of my hand, Caleb," Julian reported, a smug note of satisfaction in his voice. "Our plan has worked perfectly. The entire hotel staff has turned against her, and the heads are looking at her like she brought a plague into the building

Jasmine’s POVBy the time I finally made my way out of the hotel with my bag that evening, the sky had already begun to darken.Ryan’s car was waiting at the curb, engine running. The moment he saw me, he got out and walked around to open the passenger door, his eyes scanning my face as if checking for any signs of stress.“You look tired,” he said quietly as I slid into the seat. “Are you okay?”“Long day,” I admitted. “But I’ll be fine, it’s nothing to be worried about.”He closed the door, rounded the car, and pulled into traffic. For a few minutes we rode in comfortable silence. His hand eventually found its place on my thigh, warm and steady, thumb stroking slowly back and forth.I stared out the window for a moment, gathering my courage, then turned to him.“I need a lawyer,” I said. “Someone who can prepare divorce papers by tomorrow morning. I want them sent to Caleb as soon as possible.”Ryan’s fingers tightened slightly on my leg. Even without looking at his face, I could fe

Ryan’s POVI couldn’t get her out of my head.Every time I tried to focus on the workload staring back at me, my mind drifted back to the way Jasmine had looked that morning, soft and sleepy in my bed, hair messy and lips still slightly swollen from the night before. The memory of her body beneath mine, the sounds she made and the way she had clung to me… it was becoming a serious fucking problem.I had already called her once to check that everything was fine at the hotel. Hearing her voice had helped for about ten minutes but after that, the urge to call again started building.I forced myself not to as the last thing I wanted was to come across as obsessive, even if that was exactly how I felt. Before, it was easier to control the urge and walk with her pace but now, after all we’ve done, it seemed as though the restraint on me has snapped and the more I tried to push her thoughts out of my mind, the more it got worse.I was this close to storming out of my company and driving to t

Jasmine’s POVBy the time I returned to my office, the adrenaline that had been pumping through me had begun to fade, leaving behind a strange mix of exhaustion and satisfaction. I closed the door, leaned against it for a moment, and finally allowed myself to exhale.I had done it.I had taken control of the narrative, removed the threat, forced Julian into loyalty, and started turning the staff’s opinion in my favor. It wasn’t complete victory, but it was progress.Rolling my tired shoulders back, I allowed a small smile on my face before making my way to my seat.I had just sat down at my desk when my phone rang.Ryan’s name lit up the screen.A small, involuntary smile tugged at my lips as I answered.“Hey,” I said, settling back in the chair.“How did it go?” His deep voice filled my ear, making me relax even more. “Everything running smoothly?”“Better than expected,” I admitted, sinking deeper into my seat. “I found the man responsible for the food poisoning and just like I susp

Chapter 64Jasmine’s POVI didn’t realise just how much Julian was associated with Caleb until now. They were bent on seeing me fail but their plans were always going to fail. As I looked at my uncle, I didn’t know how to feel. But I knew I needed to be very careful, in order not to make rash decisions. He was still begging, with his voice cracking and eyes filled with desperation.Part of me wanted to end it right there to call security, throw him out and be satisfied But I forced myself to think past the anger.Julian still had allies. Senior managers who had worked under him for years as well as Board members who trusted his experience more than they trusted me. If I removed him too quickly, those people would turn against me out of loyalty or fear.In the end, I would create more enemies than I eliminated.I needed time. I needed to win the rest of the hotel over first.Only then could I cut him out cleanly.Julian must have sensed the shift in my silence because his pleading inte

Jasmine’s POVJulian stared at me as if I had lost my mind.“What the hell are you on about?” he snapped, voice already rising. “If you’re here to make accusations, you’d better have proof, because—”I didn’t let him finish.I unlocked my phone, opened the recording, and pressed play.Cole’s trembling voice filled the office.“It was Mr. Smith… Julian Smith. He approached me two days before the incident and offered me five thousand if I put something in one of the VIP plates…”Julian’s face drained of color, then flooded with furious red as realisation dawned on him. His mouth opened, but no sound came out at first as he searched for words. The recording continued, playing all what Cole had said, while Julian’s face grew more red, with veins popping in his neck. I stopped it after the most important part and locked the phone again, holding it away from Julian.“What have you done!” Julian yelled, as he clenched his fists in fury. “Is this some kind of game to you?”“That is a full con

Jasmine’s POVThe silence that filled my office after my words were so thick, it was almost choking.Cole sat frozen in the chair across from me, face pale and eyes locked on the frame of his own limping figure on the laptop screen and even from here, I could almost hear the calculations running through his head.I kept my expression calm, almost bored, as I casually reached for my phone and tapped the record button. After making sure it was recording, I pushed it away casually, before taking my gaze back to him.“I’m going to give you one chance, Mr. Hayes,” I said, still calmly. “One very narrow way out.”His eyes snapped up to mine.“The hotel will not press charges,” I continued. “You will not be handed over to the police but that is only if you tell me exactly who paid you to contaminate that customer’s food.”He swallowed hard but said nothing. He was scared of opening up but I wasn’t letting him go either.I leaned forward slightly, resting my forearms on the desk as my eyes gr
