Chapter 3

ผู้เขียน: Chloe X
Laurel accused me of many vicious behaviors, including stealing. So I was the first to jump into their mind when Mom could not find her necklace.

Mom called me, but no one answered, so she started searching through my room.

Out of her expectations, she found only some expired sandwiches and a wardrobe with only pieces of worn-out clothes. She frowned her eyebrows.

When the pack gathered to have dinner, Mom mentioned this weird thing.

"I arranged for my servant to fund the life of Petra by the month. Why is there only bad and stale food in her room? And I cannot find any good clothes in her wardrobe as well. Do you think it is possible that she is having trouble, but we don't know it?"

Mom worried with doubt. Laurel blinked her eyes, rolling her eyeballs quickly, and then a new lie was born. "Don't worry, Mother, sister Petra may have another place to stay, her belonging is saved there. Every day, she wears different clothes at the Werewolf Academy. I heard from another she-wolf that she has been hanging out with a rogue wolf."

There was a sense of disgust on Mom's face when she heard what Laurel said.

"Shit. She does not deserve to be worried. All she does is always so unwanted." She said to herself, "She must be somewhere plotting how to fool us." At that moment, her cell phone rang.

A voice came out of the phone: "Are you from the pack of Petra? It's the Werewolf Council calling. Petra is dead, and her corpse has been here for days."

Mom was slightly stunned by what she'd heard, then she swore directly into the phone: "That silly she-wolf asked you to fool me? How dare you to imposter as the council. Tell her not to put on the show. If she is brave enough, she dies for real. Then I would admire her." She hung up the phone without listening to any explanation. She was kind of pissed off for "me trying to fool her", but was satisfied that she was smart enough that "I did not make it".

Laurel came closer to Mom with pretentious consideration, "Mom, maybe something happened to sister Petra, we'd better …"

Mom responded impatiently: "No need to do that. We know who she is."

Exactly, they knew me well enough.

After being taken back to the pack, I lingered warily, I dared not speak loudly, and observed their faces in case I would be hated. But even so, I did not escape the fate of being bullied by Laurel.

I recalled what happened before I was hanged on the cliff.

Laurel came to my room, getting close to me, and lowered her voice:

"Petra, you should stay in that werewolf slum, rather than dream of being the princess of our pack." She said while she was pouring water on my bed, "Watch clearly how I play fools of those who you care about." She laughed sinisterly, her innocent face twisting grotesquely into malevolence.

I did not understand why she treated me like this when she was the one who was cherished and treasured by my parents and older brother. My wolf was so irritated that I grabbed her hair.

She bumped into my arms and pushed me back, then she screamed out a sharp voice, miserably, "Mom and Dad, save me!"

With a huge thud, the door was kicked open. My parents dashed in with anger, which turned into terror the moment they saw what was behind me. I followed their eyes to turn around, and I saw Laurel standing there with her arms soaked with blood. What's strange was that she was staring at me with the same terror as I was. I looked at the way she was looking, and what was seen was unbelievable.

Laurel was too choked to make any sound, her eyes bulging in fear. She looked at Zayn, trying to beg for mercy with her tears.I looked at the scene, contemplating that I never expected that someday Laurel would be treated like this. When Laurel nearly fainted out, the doorbell rang.Dad opened the door, outside of which was a werewolf police officer holding the arrest warrant issued by the Werewolf Council. The police waved his hands towards more wolves behind him, they poured through the door and arrested Laurel."Suspect Laurel needs to be investigated. Find a lawyer for her in advance." The police said.Laurel was catching her breath when all these happened all of a sudden. She was visibly flustered when she was regarded as a suspect.Laurel's face turned pale, and she looked at Mom for help, "Mom, help me!"Zayn asked the police wolf, "Sir, what happened? How come Laurel became a suspect?"The police furrowed his eyebrows, "Laurel is suspected of murdering Petra by hiring a rogue

Grief haunted the pack for days following. When I was alive, I never imagined that one day I could be the reason that they felt like being whacked, that they had no heart for life or work or anything.Dad halted his work. Zayn took a sick leave. Mom sat in my room all day long, trying to find something in my empty poor room. But my belongings were so limited in both quantity and quality, nothing was worth one more time of glancing. To my surprise, my Mom found the cellphone I used before I died. That cell phone dropped under my bed before Laurel came with that knife. I did not get the chance to pick it up again ever after. Mom picked up my cell phone, tears dropping from some thoughts in her mind. She charged the cell phone and then looked through every word of it.I would not allow anyone to check my cell phone if I were alive. But I could do nothing when I was just a soul.Mom found out about my chat log with Laurel. Besides what was sent to me by Laurel, my chat log with her was not

I floated around my Mom, tears soaking her face."Petra, I feel so sorry. I don't mean it. This is not what I want…""All I want is that you behave well… I'm just afraid you would grow into an unqualified werewolf… I don't mean a single punctuation of what I said to you… I don't mean it."With my dead body lying there, she was still condemning me. Too ridiculous. The other day, they picked a top wolf graveyard to bury me. In this way, they could feel a little bit better for what they had done to me.Dad did not invite other wolves to my funeral. Only him, my Mom, brother Zayn, and a reluctant Laurel. Mom held the moonstone box containing my ashes, which was then cherished as some treasure. She pressed her face against the box, crying silently. After all the funeral procedures, Mom slumped before my tombstone and murmured, "We accompany Petra till dusk, so she won't be so lonely.""But tonight I…" Laurel was unhappy with the arrangement, mouth spouted. But she swallowed what was going o

Zayn looked at Mom, eyes dull, and answered: "The final report was released. It is Petra, the corpse under the cliff!"Mom and Dad looked at each other, their faces pale and eyes quivering.Mom said with her trembling lips: "How is that possible? Is it mistaken? Is it some other Petra, just someone with an identical name?"She dared not admit it and was unwilling to. It was she who ordered someone to hang me on the cliff. It was she who killed her own daughter.Zayn's face was rigid, as if not hearing what Mom was asking, dashed out of the door, clothes unchanged. The second minute, Mom and Dad followed him as quickly. Laurel had no other option but to follow.Even though they were already on the way to the Werewolf Council, Mom still could not believe what had happened.Their face looked bad. It was silent in the vehicle, finally, Dad said something."Zayn, you have examined that corpse, is it Petra?""No, it's not her!" Mom squealed out loud, "It's her trap to seek attention. She and

Laurel took me to her room, where there were wardrobes filled with pretty clothes. Standing before the mirror, I looked at myself wearing dirty, old, and ragged clothes, while Laurel was in her pretty moonlight-woven dress like a princess. The contrast was so huge that I looked like an idiot. While I was lost in my self-mocking, the sound of a splat came into my ear. Then Laurel covered her face and ran out of the room. Before I knew what happened, Zayn rushed in and kicked me heavily in my stomach. Then what came was the words and curses of Mom."What good she-wolf could be raised out of a slum?""Learnt nothing but to hurt others. If I had known that you were already raised badly, I would never have taken you back!"Dad furrowed his eyebrows too, eyes filled with despair. From their seemingly illogical reactions, I figured out what had happened ------ Laurel claimed she was beaten by me, and that I scared her that I would kick her out of the pack.Laurel put on an evil smirk when she

A little knife was shoved into my hand when she bumped into me.Mom shuddered out of uncontrollable anger, slapping my face one after another. She stared at me after she slapped me 5 to 6 times, yelling: "Why do you treat your sister like this? Why are you so jealous of her?" Mom was never as angry as that time, because I was the daughter she had been looking forward to coming back for years.I was not expecting that to come, so I was stunned sitting there and not knowing how to react.I wiped off the blood trickling from my nostril, stood up, and tried to explain. Father kicked me down at that moment. Then Zayn dragged me and commanded me to kneel to apologize. My wolf roared, with my canine teeth exposed. I tried hard not to cry."Why don't you even give me a chance to explain? Why don't you trust me, not even once?"I clenched my teeth so hard that I started to shiver, tears rolling down my cheeks like raindrops.Since 6 years old, I had already been used to suffering from injustice
