Feel-Good Story

Plot Twists

Bias

Mistress

Male POV

Winning Back the Husband

Regret

Cheating

Mindy Graham left me at the altar to meet her ex-boyfriend, who left her five years ago when she was almost disabled. The wedding guests were shocked when they saw me clenching the corner of her wedding dress, trying my best to keep up appearances. "Can you not leave now?" Mindy hesitated but chose to slowly pry off my fingers while shaking her head. "I'm sorry. I have to go. I need to find out why he left me so heartlessly back then." She left without turning back amidst the shocked gasps from the crowd. My mother, who had a heart condition, trembled with rage, and I watched in shock as she passed out and fell to the ground. "Mom!" I was breaking down but forced myself to get it together and take her to the hospital. I fell to the floor outside the surgery room, and that was when two messages popped up on my phone. The first message was from Johnny Packer: [I told you that Mindy would never choose you if I came back. You've lost again.] Mindy sent the second message: [Give me 30 days. We'll be broken up during this time, but I promise I'll love you and only you after this is over.] There was a dead look in my eyes as I laughed bitterly with self-deprecation. This time, I refused to let myself lose.

Chapter 1
Eric's POV:The lights outside the surgery room were lit for three hours, and still, there was no news of what was happening inside. My mother had a bypass surgery two years ago. That was also when she told me that Mindy Graham was not the right woman for me, but I was stubborn and refused to leave her because I was convinced that Mindy loved me.However, my conviction had come back to bite me in the back, and it hurt so much that I could hardly breathe. My father was wracked with so much nervousness that he was at a loss. "What should we do? What if your mom doesn't make it? I—""That won't happen," I interrupted him, but I was also trying to convince myself of it. "Nothing is going to happen to Mom."However, my voice was trembling. I had never felt so sacred in my life. That was also the moment my phone started vibrating. Johnny Packer had shared a clip with me that showed him in a hotel with Mindy running over to him, questioning him, "Why did you come back?"Johnny said not

Chapter 2
Dr. Jackson was surprised to see me. He frowned. "I remember you. The last time you came, you told me you didn't want to have the surgery overseas. Why would you…"My expression froze as bitterness filled my heart. After Mindy left for a business trip a month ago, I found myself not feeling well, and after going for a checkup, I was diagnosed with bone cancer. I did not tell her about it right away as I did not want her to worry. I thought it would be better if I had my surgery in the country. However, I did not expect Johnny to return. Mindy left me at the altar, and I became a laughingstock at our wedding. I was still wearing the groom's suit and looked particularly humiliated. "I just came to my senses, that's all. Please help me with the arrangements." Dr. Jackson sighed. "Alright. You need to make the flight at 8:00 am three days from now and leave with your accompanying medical personnel."I nodded and returned to the ward. I checked my phone and found a chat group filled

Chapter 3
That was when I caught the look of surprise that flashed quickly on Johnny's face.Mindy's lips tightened, and when I saw the hesitation on her face, my heart sank. Before she could say a word, I turned to pull Johnny out of the office, where many people had started gathering outside. "Eric, you…" Mindy spoke up from behind me, but I pretended not to hear her. I turned on the surveillance footage in front of everyone, and the timestamp of 12:23 pm could be seen on it. Johnny could be seen approaching my computer after everyone had left the CEO's floor. Johnny was clearly caught amending the contract. Mindy's expression fell as everyone exclaimed in shock."This really was Johnny Packer's doing?! Why would he do something like this?""What other reason could there be? Have you forgotten that Johnny Packer is Ms. Graham's ex-boyfriend? The ex is framing the current husband, and the outcome can only be determined by who Ms. Graham chooses to support.""I'm placing my bet on Johnny

Chapter 4
"Johnny," she called out in a low voice as her gaze stopped for three seconds on my swollen cheek. Just when I thought she was about to yell at him, Mindy said, "I'm sorry, Eric. I'll apologize on Johnny's behalf. I promise I'll give you a grander wedding a month after this as compensation."Her answer made Johnny smile, and he put his arm around her shoulder. I froze and felt like I was about to cry. Before I could say another word, she left with Johnny while holding his hand. Only silence was left in the car park as I stood where I was, my cheek hurting so much that I started to feel numb from it.I finally accepted the truth. Mindy did not care about how Johnny had abandoned her back then. She knew that Johnny punched me and framed me, and she knew how he had schemed against me, but she still loved him.Johnny was right. I had suffered utter defeat. It was three years ago when I first lost to Johnny. He had messaged me suddenly, telling me that Mindy kept his picture in her purs

Chapter 5
Third-Person POV:Mindy traveled the world with Johnny after that, and she did not even step into the company. They embraced under the golden sky as the sun set, and Johnny asked, "It's the 30th day tomorrow, Mindy. Is this really the end of our relationship?"She froze but quickly tightened her arms around him. However, there was an unfathomable look in her eyes. "It is. I made Eric a promise, and I can't break any more promises with him."Johnny did not react to her words, nor was he unwilling to let her go. A better way to describe his thoughts was that he was confident about the wedding being just a formality. If he wanted to, he could make Mindy stand by him again after that. However, he still turned teary-eyed as he acted like he could not bear for things to end. "Alright. It doesn't matter if you love Eric or not, Mindy. I'll always be waiting for you."Mindy's heart melted at his words, and she hugged him even tighter. However, she was reminded of how Eric had stopped pic

Chapter 6
"My gosh. That's Mindy Graham and Eric Lambert's divorce papers. Have they both really signed them?""What's happening? If they had gotten a divorce, why is there a wedding today? Is this a game?""Look at the date on the papers. It was signed a month ago! That's the day after Mindy Graham left the groom at the altar!""How ironic."The guests started talking about it below the stage while Mindy froze on stage. She stared at the divorce papers as her eyes started to tear up. Divorce? When did she sign those papers? She had no idea that she signed them! Also, bone cancer? Why did Eric not tell her about his condition? Mindy felt everything go black and was about to fall. However, static was heard from the screen again before anything happened to her, and a recording started to play.Mindy was shocked further by the footage of her grandmother who had passed away five years ago in the hospital. Below the stage, Johnny's eyes widened as he trembled with fear and ran up the stage. "W

Chapter 7
Eric's POV:Time did not mean much to me as I watched it pass by, and just like that, five years had gone by.I had no idea what to expect when I arrived in Angel City with my father five years ago. All I wanted to do then was to escape Kingston City, the place filled with sadness that suffocated me. I never thought of myself as being inferior, but I did allow myself to be underestimated after I willingly worked for Mindy as a secretary after graduating with a finance degree from a prestigious university.Fortunately, I met someone after coming to Angel City who helped me gain hope for life again. I stood staring out the window, lost in thought, when the office door behind was pushed open and followed by familiar footsteps approaching me. I was immediately embraced in a warm hug. "What's wrong? Are you feeling down?"It was Jenna Fulcrum. I turned around to return the hug. "It's nothing like that. I was just lamenting about how lucky it was that I met you back then."Jenna chu

Chapter 8
I did not move as memories of the people I had almost forgotten came to me.Mindy ran up toward me but was stopped by Jenna, who was looking at her darkly. Mindy was taken aback, and she noticed that Jenna and I were holding hands. "Who are you?""I'm Eric's wife. Stay away from him."Mindy felt something exploding in her mind as her eyes widened, looking like she had suffered a great blow. She lowered her head and saw Nicky, who looked quite like me. "Is this… your daughter?"My lips tightened as I patted Jenna's shoulder. "Take Nicky back into the car. I'd like to have a word with her privately."However, Jenna refused to budge. Her reaction tickled me, and I leaned forward to kiss her on the cheek. "Go ahead with Nicky. I promise I'll be fine."Only then did she finally pick up Nicky in her arms and walk out of the cemetery, but not without constantly looking back to check on me. It hurt Mindy to see how intimate I was with Jenna, and she could not help thinking about how I
