At nights later that day, Grace and Aiden were asleep.

It was late. Past midnight. The resort was quiet.

Grace woke up coughing. Her throat burned. Her eyes watered.

Smoke.

She sat up fast. "Aiden. AIDEN!"

He woke up groggy. "What?"

"Smoke. I smell smoke."

Aiden sat up. Then he smelled it too. "What the—"

He jumped out of bed. Opened the bedroom door.

Fire. The living room was on fire. Flames eating the couch. The curtains. Spreading fast.
