❦ Rosalind ❦

The first thing I noticed when I slid into consciousness was the warmth of the morning sun kissing my skin. I knew last night had been the best sleep I’d ever had.

Nothing beats sleeping in a safe state of mind after a thoroughly satisfying session of lovemaking with your partner.

My arms stretched, searching for that warmth, only to meet empty but rumpled sheets.

I turned to my husband’s side of the bed, prying my eyes open to see that he was indeed not there. I understood that he might have had to go to work, but it would have been nice to wake up cocooned in his arms.

Stretching once more for good measure, my lips curved into a content smile as I reached for my phone to check the time.

11 a.m.

I could hardly believe I had slept this long. A loud rumble in my stomach reminded me that hunger waits for no one. I sat up, dutifully following the call.

After showering in the master bedroom, I ran my fingers over my reflection in the repaired mirror. I looked well, better th

❄︎ Viktor ❄︎Her throat was so fucking tight I couldn’t breathe. Each gag and wet drag of her mouth around my cock had me seeing stars. I almost spilled right down her throat like a desperate bastard.No. Not yet.I yanked her off me by her hair, my chest heaving like I’d just gone ten rounds. Saliva glistened down her chin, coated her swollen lips, and she had the nerve to smirk at me.“I’m going to wipe that smirk off your face,” I rasped. Her smirk faltered just enough for me to catch a flicker of fear underneath it. It made my cock twitch.I dragged her mouth to mine, biting and swallowing her little gasps, answering her needy whimpers. I spun her, forcing her to face the dildo stuck against the headboard. My hand pressed her down until her lips brushed the silicone. She had the audacity to laugh. “You’re just a big baby,” she murmured, her voice a mocking tease. My jaw clenched as rage sparked in my chest. She thought this was a game. Just like when she sold the hotel behind my

❦ Rosalind ❦ The second Viktor hit the water, I turned and ran, biting down a laugh that still managed to bubble past my lips. His shocked face had twisted into a darker, vindictive expression that burned itself into my mind as I bolted for the house, the towel clutched around me like flimsy armor.Cold droplets streaked down my calves. The tiles were slick beneath my feet. But I didn’t dare look back. The laughter slipped from me anyway, shaking my chest breathlessly. The soldatos on duty didn’t even blink as I raced past them, and I knew it wasn’t because they hadn’t noticed. It was out of respect. If Viktor ever caught one of them letting his gaze stray over me. They’d be dead.I streaked across the living area, my heart pounding, only to find Adrian hunched in front of his laptop. His detached eyes turned up at me for a second, then he returned to whatever numbers or codes he was working on. At the top of the stairs, I risked a glance behind me. My breath caught.Viktor.Soak

❦ Rosalind ❦ I stood in our shared closet, my fingers brushing over the mass of colorful fabrics. My hand paused on a simple but elegant two-piece swimsuit. It had been sitting there for weeks, untouched, waiting for a day like this. Today, I decided I would finally use the pool I hadn’t stepped into since I moved into this house. Somehow, Viktor had occupied so much of my life and my thoughts, that I barely had a moment to think for myself. I quietly admitted that I was enjoying it. But the relief of that acknowledgment was tempered by a prickling unease. He still hadn’t returned home. Hadn't sent a word back in response to the text I had sent hours ago.I huffed, annoyed at his absence. A full day. A whole day after we’d confessed our love. Did he have a reason for staying away? Or was this deliberate? My stomach twisted with worry, but then I reminded myself that Adrian was still here in the house showing no signs of distress. He was in contact with Viktor, of course. So Vik

❄︎ Viktor ❄︎I stepped into the bathroom and immediately noticed that the shards from last night were gone. Cleaned up. My eyes flicked to the sink, the floor, the edges of the mirror frame. Everything was pristine. Enza, my housekeeper, must’ve been here. I tried to summon a memory of her, any scrap of familiarity, but nothing came. It was all just a blur. My gut tightened as the anger bubbled up like acid. Then the thought of Rosa hit me.The fact that she’d put the hotel up for sale while I was… like this. While my mind was fractured and my memory a patchwork of holes. My hands shook in tune to the slow burn of fury spreading through me. Was she taking advantage of me? Pretending to love me while quietly playing her own game? If she respected me, or cared even a fraction before my accident, she wouldn’t have touched the hotel knowing it would set me off. She would have at least discussed it with me first.I shoved the thoughts down and moved to my home office after my shower.

❄︎ Viktor ❄︎The first thing I saw when my eyes opened was warm light bleeding through the curtains. It was the kind of sunrise I never had the luxury of noticing before her. Rosalind lay across me, her cheek against my chest, one leg tangled with mine as if she was staking her claim on me even in her sleep. Her breathing was soft and threaded with little snores she would deny if I ever told her.She had stayed last night when the migraine hit me. Carving me open like a blade. She’d moved immediately, bringing me water and painkillers. And when she’d asked if she should call a doctor. I told her no, and she didn’t press it. She had simply stayed. My mind flickered back to the flashes of memory that had almost split my brain the previous night: Paulo and I. Two young boys clinging to scraps of hope. Planning to run from New York, to vanish into our mother’s hometown in Italy. A small, nameless and safe town, or as close to safe as we could imagine. We had talked about jobs and ne
