Chapter 7

Author: Witch
Grote immediately spun around and rushed to Christine, pulling her tightly into his arms. "Christine! What's wrong? How does it hurt? Don't scare me!"

Christine clung to his chest. Raising her tear-streaked face, she choked out, "Honey, it's all my fault. Ms. Bowers seemed low lately, so I thought a simple task would be a good distraction. I just asked her to help me with dinner.

"But… But she didn't seem too willing. She slaughtered the chicken right in front of me, and blood splattered everywhere."

As she lied, she trembled with weakness.

"I just can't stand the smell of blood. I was worried it'd harm our pup, so I asked her to clean up the mess. I didn't expect Ms. Bowers…"

Her voice cracked, and she couldn't finish the sentence.

"I know I'm not worthy of carrying your pup. If my presence makes things so difficult for you and if Ms. Bowers can't accept this pup, then… then I'll kill myself to atone for my sins!"

With that, she really broke free from Grote's embrace and threw herself against the wall.

"Christine! Are you crazy?"

Grote was terrified. He immediately pulled her back, holding her tightly in his arms.

When he turned to look at me, his gaze was filled with the utmost disgust.

"Renata!" he barked at me. "What are you waiting for? Can't you see how filthy the floor is? Clean it up!"

Christine snuggled closer to him and softly added, "Yeah, the smell of blood is so strong. It's really bad for the pup. Ms. Bowers, can you clean up everything, inside and out? Don't miss a single spot, okay?"

That didn't satisfy her. She tossed the sticky, tangled necklace onto the floor. "Oh, I almost forgot. Here's your necklace. Thanks for letting us borrow it."

The sheer humiliation left me sobbing uncontrollably. My blood ran cold, leaving me paralyzed and able to do nothing but weep in utter despair.

Upon hearing me cry, Grote felt a headache coming on.

I couldn't believe it. Any guilt he felt just moments ago vanished under Christine's manipulation.

Perhaps trying to ease his own conscience, he said, "Alright, stop crying. It's just a necklace. I'll buy you a new one."

"What?" I stared at Grote in disbelief.

He knew that was Mom's necklace, and I treasured it above all else. Yet, he allowed Christine to treat it like a tool to please him.

I dropped to the floor and gripped the necklace tightly, desperately wiping away the stains from it.

"Don't be so dramatic." Christine scoffed from the side. "It's just a cheap necklace. It should be its honor to have pleased Alpha Grote. Don't be so petty."

All the accumulated humiliation broke me at that moment.

I shot up and glared at Christine with all my hatred, wishing I could tear her apart. Without thinking, I rushed at her.

"Christine, don't push it!" I screamed, charging at her with everything I had.

But Grote caught me. I wanted to tear Christine to pieces, but he held me down with force, restraining me as if I were a helpless mad she-wolf.

All I could do was watch as Christine smirked at me, mocking my helplessness and my inability to do anything while she humiliated me.

"Get out! Kneel outside. You can only come in when Christine forgives you."

Grote unshackled me and threw me out. Without another glance at me, he turned to anxiously support Christine and checked her over and over again for any sign of injury.

I laughed—a broken, hollow laugh.

Slowly, I crawled to my feet. The pain in my body made every movement excruciating. Step by step, I made my way outside.

The sea wind cut through me like a blade.

I stared out at the vast blue ocean.

Over the past seven years, we had shared countless kisses beneath this very sky.

I remembered that year when he had promised me, "If I ever betray you, I'll jump into the sea."

I chuckled, calling him foolish. How could I let him jump into the sea when I loved him so much?

But now, staring at the endless blue, I couldn't help but think how foolish I had been.

Without a second thought, I jumped.

The constant infections came back again and again, with no hope of recovery. How could someone as ruined and filthy as me be worthy of Shane's love?Yet our bond was already sealed. Grote remembered the time he'd slept with Christine while I stood there watching. He'd hurt me deeply, and his sins were unforgivable. He'd even had Christine hold Mom's necklace in her mouth while she did those filthy things to him.Regret cut like a blade. Even immediate execution wouldn't make this right.Christine was this close to dying. Terror dragged her to the edge of it. She lost control of her body, fouled herself, and gradually stopped struggling.Only then did Grote fling her to the ground. She collapsed in the mess she'd made, gasping for air in desperate, heaving breaths. Having clawed her way back from death didn't leave her afraid—it left her scalded with humiliation. It was the first time a wolf had treated her with such brutality. In her life, countless wolves had fallen at her feet, and this shame hurt worse than being killed.Christine glared at Grote and roared, "Are you insane? I'm carrying your pup! Were you trying to kill me?"Grote's eyes were terrify

Grote's pupils shrank to pinpoints. He'd barely pulled himself together, and now the madness swallowed him whole. He tore free from Christine's hold and lunged forward, staggering as he did."Renata, you're alive! You're actually alive!" He screamed like a lunatic, crashing into tables and chairs, drawing a chorus of gasps. He shoved aside the werewolves blocking him, running straight toward me in a frenzy. "Renata, I won't let you become someone else's Luna! How could you say yes to him? You're mine, and only mine! Come back with me! You have to come back!"But he was way too far from the main hall. A squad of warriors quickly closed in around him.Shane had predicted all of this—he'd practically engineered it. Still, he hadn't expected Grote to actually show up, and to bring Christine, no less.He respected my choice, but he refused to let me hide because of anyone. He wanted the world to know I was his one and only Luna. Anyone who dared to ruin the ceremony wouldn't be spa

Every time, I was moved to tears. "Shane, you don't have to do this for me. Even if I do become your Luna, I can't give you what you need. My body is…"Whenever I got to that part, Shane would kiss me gently, as if afraid he would hurt me. He would hold me with such tenderness and say, "I don't care. I don't care about anything. I just want you."He was terrified I would leave, but he also worried I would refuse him. He always asked for my opinion. Sometimes, when he couldn't hold back, he would pull me into his arms and murmur into my ear, "I can't wait another second. I wish you could become the Luna of the Darkfang pack right now."I already missed my chance once. I won't back down this time. Renata, I love you. The rest of your life belongs to me and only me. I won't let you leave me, you hear me?"I looked into his eyes to see the intense love blazing in them. I knew how long he'd held himself back. I felt it, too, and the warmth of it nearly drove away all my old wounds.

Christine heard Grote but didn't care at all. She swayed her hips, pushed out her chest, and hooked her arm through his. She cooed, "Honey, do you think this set of jewelry looks good on me? Don't be upset."I'm sure Ms. Bowers would want me in a good mood. She wouldn't be stingy about letting me wear this. Think of it as being for our pup, okay?"Grote looked at her. For some reason, the nausea churning inside him grew stronger. He swallowed it hard and, in the end, said nothing. His expression, however, was ugly.Seeing that he wasn't saying anything, Christine grew bolder. She treated herself like the lady of the house and pranced around every day in the clothes I used to wear. She thought Grote was already used to her and that his heart was entirely hers. Even if she crossed lines now, he wouldn't blame her. She had no idea he was finding her harder and harder to tolerate.Every time he saw her casually using my things, he burned with anger. A shapeless fury pricked at him

"Christine, I'm suddenly having second thoughts. What if Grote suddenly becomes lucid and finds out about this?" Henry scanned Christine. She wore a white dress, and her belly was rounded, but her lush figure was still on display. A faint milky scent clung to her skin. It was absolutely intoxicating. He leaned into the curve of her neck and inhaled deeply, as he used to.Christine was a famous sex expert. She understood exactly what Henry meant and slid onto his lap of her own accord. "Relax. I'm carrying his pup, and he has no idea what's going on."She couldn't stand it anymore. She'd been pent up and aching for days after being forced to go without a wolf's passion.Afterward, Henry dressed and looked down at Christine sprawled on the bed, still hungry for more. "Come any time you need me. Once you become Grote's Luna, I won't get to taste you again."From then on, whenever Christine went to Henry to "handle business", she would spend the night with him. Luckily, Grote's mind
