Apology

By the time Mia reached her apartment that evening, it was almost eight in the evening. She was assigned a last-minute delivery case and she gladly accepted it. Anything to keep her mind off the man who refused to leave her alone. The marks he has given are yet to fade away from her body and his memories refused to leave her mind.

She stepped out of the elevator onto her floor while rummaging her flat keys in her handbag. She did not immediately notice the man standing in front of her apartment. When she finally did, she froze. He doesn't look like the Reed she knows. The Reed she knows is always put together and well-groomed. But the Reed standing in front of her has a beard that badly needs a trim. His hair needs to be combed and his clothes are wrinkled. His eyes look haunted and the arrogant man whom she came to know is nowhere to be found. The man in front of her has his eyes filled with guilt and so much sadness.
