PIPER’S POV

The office had emptied out slowly as dusk painted the glass windows with hues of orange and pink.

I was still seated, scrolling through meaningless emails, while Diana lounged across from me, sipping what was left of her iced vanilla latte.

“You’ve been oddly quiet since we got here,” she teased, nudging her heel against my desk leg.

“I’m just... processing,” I murmured, not meeting her eyes.

Before she could say another word, the door flew open. Rowan.

His presence, as always, turned the air electric. His sharp eyes darted between me and Diana before settling firmly on me.

“We have a gala to attend. Tonight.”

I blinked. “Gala?”

“Yes. I already RSVPed on your behalf,” he said, his voice clipped. “You’re expected to be there, looking like the wife of Rowan Archer.”

Diana gave me a wide-eyed grin as she slowly rose. “Well, that’s my cue to leave... but not before we sort something very important.”

“Diana—”

“Nope. Piper, listen. You cannot wear just anything to this kind of

ROWAN’S POVFor a moment, I stood frozen by the door, her voice echoing louder in my mind than it had in the room."Maybe you can sleep in our room tonight."I didn’t turn immediately. I couldn't. My hand rested against the knob, cold metal grounding me against the heat creeping up the back of my neck. What the hell did she mean by that? Was she testing me? Or worse… was she starting to mean it?When I finally looked over my shoulder, Piper was already on her bed in the room, pretending to adjust her pillows like she hadn’t just cracked the atmosphere wide open. The silk robe she wore barely brushed her thighs, and her hair was a messy halo down her back, she had already covered her self but it was just her legs.Nothing about her looked calculated but everything about her felt dangerous.“I said maybe,” she added quickly without looking up. “You don’t have to act like I asked you to climb into bed with me.”I exhaled sharply, the corner of my mouth twitching. Of course, she had to

ROWAN’S POV“How are you, our dear Mrs. Piper Archer?”I bristled.Piper blinked. Her voice was polite, tight. “I’m well, sir. Thank you.”“You look stunning, as always,” Ruben said smoothly. “I hope my son is treating you right?”I clenched my fists, jaw ticking. She hesitated before replying. “He’s… accommodating.”"That’s good to hear." Ruben sipped his whiskey, gaze settling on me now. “Rowan, let’s have a word.”Piper turned towards the stairs, but Ruben stopped her. “You should stay. This concerns you.”So she did.He talked business about the logistics deal from Spain, the warehouse expansion in the South, all of it coated in the kind of sweet poison my father specialized in. Piper said little, but I could see her observing him, reading between the lines like a hawk.Something about the conversation felt… off. Like there was more being said that I wasn’t picking up on. They both nodded too often. Agreed too quickly. She even leaned in once to whisper something back, and Ruben c

  • Ties That Bind   ANGER AND TEMPTATIONS

PIPER’S POVRowan’s jaw ticked. “This isn’t your lane, Piper.”But at this moment, I just want to do what I want and not someone bossing me around. Maybe it was time for me to take on Diana’s advice.“Well, apparently it is now,” I countered, eyes locked on his. “Since I'm here, working like everyone else. Getting burned—literally and figuratively. So if I’m going to be used, might as well make it worth something.”Rowan stared at me. I stared right back.Max raised his hands. “Okay, wow. Married tension in HD. I’m just gonna go ahead and say, that level of chemistry? It’s gold. The press will eat it up.”“Drop it, Max,” Rowan snapped, but his voice lacked its usual bite.I didn’t miss the way his leg bounced under the table after that. But my heart was full of smiles , it’s high time I freed myself and enjoyed the moment and what I have. The rest of the meeting went by in a blur. Sales charts. Marketing slides. Projections and expansions. But none of it registered. My brain was stil

  • Ties That Bind   COLD COFFEE, HOT TENSION

PIPER’S POVThe morning sunlight spilled into the room like it had no idea what mess had unraveled the night before.I lay there a little longer than usual, staring at the ceiling, my mind drifting uninvited back to the kiss. Rowan’s lips, the way his hand lingered too long against my skin, the heat that spiked through me… and how it ended so abruptly like it never happened.“Get it together, Piper,” I muttered under my breath and swung my legs off the bed.I padded to the bathroom and brushed my teeth like I was scrubbing the thoughts out of my head. No room for confusion. No room for feelings. This marriage was a contract, and nothing more. The hot shower helped. The sting of cold reality helped even more.Wrapped in a thick bathrobe, I stepped out and tied it tightly before walking into the dining room.He was already there, Rowan sat across the table, dressed in a crisp white shirt, sleeves rolled up, watching something on his phone. His plate of eggs sat untouched. He didn’t loo

  • Ties That Bind   THE WEIGHT OF HIS DIVIDED HEART

LUCIA’S POVI stood by the window, arms folded, eyes fixed on the empty driveway. The tea I’d made had long gone cold, untouched on the dining table. The silence in the house was thick, crawling over the walls like a warning. He wasn’t back yet, I checked the time again.10:47 PM.Thames said he was just “stepping out.” No big deal. Just a quick check-in about Piper, or so he claimed. But I knew better. He went to see her.Lia.Her name alone left a bitter taste in my mouth.I heard the front door creak open, and my heartbeat hitched.I didn’t move from my spot. His footsteps were soft deliberate. Like he already knew I was furious.“Lucia,” he said gently.I didn’t turn around. “You said thirty minutes.”“I know. I’m sorry,” he murmured. Still, I kept my back to him.“She needed to talk. About Piper.”I slowly turned to face him, arms still tightly crossed. “She needed to talk? And it had to be you?”He ran a hand through his greying hair. “Lucia, please—”“Please, what? Please let y

  • Ties That Bind   AURORA’S RAGE

AURORA’S POVThe door slammed shut behind me with a force that rattled the picture frames on the wall. I didn’t care.I was still shaking, the sticky feel of red wine clinging to my skin like humiliation I couldn’t wash off not yet. My heels clicked angrily on the marble tiles as I stormed into my apartment, my breath heaving."That bitch," I muttered, yanking off the Hermès bag and tossing it across the couch. “She fucking poured wine on me. Wine! In front of everyone!”Amanda came out from the kitchen, a half-eaten macaron in her hand. “Whoa, whoa. What the hell happened? You’re fuming.”I turned around, chest rising and falling. “Piper’s friend. That little rat. The one with the overly straight bangs and fake Bottega heels. She threw wine on me at the gala.”Amanda blinked. “Wait, Diana?”I nodded, pacing like a caged animal. “Yes! And the worst part? I couldn’t even slap her. Security was already stepping in before I could react.”Amanda sat on the edge of the armrest, licking p
