ALEXA

Returning to my office seemed like a horrible idea, because I could not stop being agitated. Fortunately, my assistant didn’t have any more bad news for me, so I simply asked her to change the door sign to close and close for the day.

He knows now; what next is going to happen?

Or maybe I might be the one over-thinking things or overreacting. Mark had never cared about me, not even after I nursed him back to good health and stayed by his side for years. No, he never cared. Most men would have already known that I was hopelessly in love with him by then, but Mark Ronaldo, because he was still in love with Ivy, was too blind to see.

Why else would I accept to marry him in the blink of an eye? Why would I still stay even after Ivy returned and tried to get him back? Even if I had taken care of him when he was in coma, I should have left the moment he woke up, but I didn’t. It had been for devotion, but every other sacrifice I had made wasn’t.

It was for love.

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Unchanged Mind

MARKAfter Vector left to speak with the hospital management, my mind drifted back to one of the worst days of my life, and my blood ran cold. Some years back, my dad had had a heart attack.Thinking back now, it dawned on me why he had had the heart attack. The company was going through some major setbacks, and he was trying everything possible to fix things. Unfortunately, he didn’t think to tell me about it. He had thought that I didn’t need to know, or that I couldn’t handle it.Until my dad’s demise, he never thought I was mature enough to handle the company.“Handling a company is not the same thing as taking care of your car, Mark,” he had said to me. “You will need a tough skin and a hard heart to swim through, and you are still too young and fragile to understand it,” he had told me.None of the words sat well with me because I had been eager to work in the company. Not that I wanted to take over the company while he was alive, but I would have appreciated working for him, bu

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   We Wait

MARK“Is she okay?” I couldn’t help but ask, but my jaw tightened when Donald Shell asked the same question at the same time.“Is she okay?” He also asked.I glared at him, and he returned my glare.“She passed out from shock at her…the company,” the doctor managed to say.I understood his confusion at the right pronoun to use because of the recent news of Donald Shell taking over, but his information made me more upset.“And yet, you are here asking if she is okay as if you have no idea what happened to her?” I turned and asked Donald through clenched teeth.“I am only here to ensure that she is okay,” Donald retorted.Vector touched my arm to get my attention, and when I turned to him, he leaned into me and spoke in a whisper so that no one would hear what he was saying.“I don’t think you should pay any attention to Donald Shell,” Vector said to me. “It is obvious why he is here; to gloat, and seeing you riled up will only give him the satisfaction that he wants, and I don’t want t

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Doses Of Bad News

MARK“I know for a fact that Alexa did not sign the company off to that bastard,” I said to Vector. “I can bet my life on that. She would never do something like that,” I added.“I know that too, Mark, but right now, there is little or nothing we can do about it,” Vector said.My veins tightened with rage, and it was even more upsetting because I couldn’t do anything to Donald Shell. Alexa wasn’t making things easy for me.“I warned her about that jerk, Matty Farm, or whatever the heck his name is,” I said through clenched teeth.“Now is not the time for you to say that to her hearing, Mark,” Vector cautioned carefully.“I wasn’t going to do that,” I retorted.“Besides, she is going through something worse right now,” he said. And almost immediately, I knew that it was beyond what I just ready, and I began to wonder if there was more to what I read. I had become more enraged to even read to the end of the news. The highlight was enough for me.“What are you talking about?” I asked.“H

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Taking Over

MARKA call from Vector woke me up, making me grumble with annoyance.“Isn’t it too early to be calling anyone?” I asked when I eventually picked up the call.I knew that if I didn’t pick up, Vector would probably continue calling, and now that he had interrupted my sleep, I wouldn’t be able to go back to it.“It’s already past seven in the morning, Mark,” Vector said.I checked my clock on my bedside table and realized that Vector was right. I must have slept off too deeply to even hear when my alarm went off, and that was because I hadn’t slept well like this in a really long time.“And usually, you should be up and getting ready to go to your company by now,” Vector added.I sat up straighter on my bed and wiped my eyes.“I own the company, Vector, and I still have the right to whatever it is that I want to do, and I can go there whenever I want,” I reminded Vector.“You and I know that you are not that kind of CEO,” Vector said.“Okay, now that you have succeeded in waking me up,

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Darkness

ALEXAI didn’t think that I would be able to sleep in my apartment, but I did. There was the nightmare about Donald Shell, taunting me again, but I had woken up just when he wanted to attack me, and I didn’t sleep for the rest of the night. It had been almost morning anyway, so I didn’t bother much about going back to bed.I had stayed up until morning, trying to think about what to do with the outfits in my possession so that I could refund the clients who withdrew their contracts.Again, I didn’t want them to sue me for not refunding them; that would only create worse scandals.By morning, I was sighing with relief, and I almost felt the urge to throw myself a party for surviving the night regardless of the nightmare.I hadn’t had a choice but to sleep in my apartment, as I couldn’t show up at Gina’s apartment anymore. The cop had been changed, and so what was the worst that could happen?“Good morning, Miss Alexa?” Shirley, my secretary, greeted me as she came into my living room.

MARK“Are you sure that you don’t want to contend that restraining order?” Vector asked me as we made our way into a restaurant. It was a little late, but I wanted to just be somewhere else that wasn’t my house.I felt that way hours ago when I became exhausted from holding interviews, and according to the plan, I should have been with Alexa right now, but she hadn’t allowed that to happen.Vector had suggested Dancing Devils after Brent left.“How dare you suggest that club to me?” I had asked Vector with unmasked anger.“What’s wrong with going there?” Vector had asked innocently. “We used to hang out there a lot, and now that he has it back, it was back to working in full swing,” he had added. But it was when Vector said the last statement that realization hit him.“Oh, I am so sorry, Mark, I didn’t think of it like that,” Vector had gone on to apologize.“Of course you didn’t,” I had responded tightly. There was no way I would find myself in the club of a man who cowardly backed o
