MARK

Donald and I waited for Alexa to make her decision and my heart thundered hard against my chest.

A big part of me told me that she would insist that he stayed right here; she came with him after all, didn’t he? And that would also make Donald more pompous than he was already feeling.

Then I couldn’t deny that another reason I was agitated was how embarrassing this would be for me. Donald would definitely have a filled day sneering at me and taunting me for being chosen to stay, but I was a Ronaldo, and the last thing I would let anyone do to me was strip me of the use of my power and influence.

I meant what I told the detective, and if Alexa decides that this meeting wouldn’t hold if Donald wasn’t right here with her, then I would have to use all my pulling strings and fight this till the very end. It wasn’t something I wanted to do, because I didn’t want to drag Alexa down that road, not because I was worried about the outcome, but then again, with Donald, it would always be war

MARKI paced back and forth in my living room, utterly and completely restless.Oscar is dead.“I shouldn’t have gone there. Damn, I shouldn’t have,” I kept telling myself.I had never been this restless, confused, and regretful in my entire life. The farther this whole case went, the deeper it pulled me in. I still had Alexa’s allegation file against me, and now this.It was a good thing that no one saw me there.I sighed with relief, but it didn’t stop my heart from racing. Who could have killed him? That was the most gruesome murder I had ever seen. Even after running off, I still couldn’t get it off my vision, so much so that the moment I got into the house, the first thing I did was to hurry into my bathroom and empty everything that I had eaten.Usually, violence and crime scenes weren’t my strong points, so I had been very lucky to never have to witness it.If I had known that this was the case, I wouldn’t have bothered going over to his apartment. It was barely twenty-four hou

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Gut-Wrenching

IVYI was just arriving at Oscar’s apartment when I noticed that his door was open. I didn’t even get a second to comprehend what was going on when I sensed that someone was in there was well. The situation unsettled me, and thankfully, I followed my instinct to stay off Oscar’s porch so as not to be seen. At least, it would be better to know who was in there with Oscar before showing my face, especially with the scary call that Oscar had made to me.Even now, I couldn’t shake off the feeling of dread that the call placed on me.It was easy to get away from the house, because Mr. Silver and my mum were so engrossed in their silly and annoying argument about Alexa that they didn’t even notice when I went upstairs, picked my bag, and hurried out of the house. For once, I acknowledged that their argument was a miracle to me, otherwise, my mum would have bombarded me with questions, and eventually prevented me from leaving. It didn’t matter whether Oscar was in danger or not, and even if

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   The Need For Ego Restoration

MARK“Why would she order for him to be released?” I asked the detective tightly. This wasn’t making any sense to me. First of all, Donald used his bloody influence and power to prevent me from seeing Oscar, which I should have fought back but I didn’t, and now, Alexa had demanded that her attacker be released?“Are you sure she wanted him to be released?” I asked again almost immediately, because I could not seem to wrap my head around it. “But she is already out of the country on tour. When did she give this order?” I questioned further.I knew that I should calm down and give him the opportunity to answer my questions, but I just couldn’t. This was not what I had expected at all.I had expected resistance, and of course, I was very ready to pull my weight, but definitely not this.“She made the request right before she went for her tour,” the detective answered.“But why would she order for him to be released?” I asked again, stirring us back to my first question. The detective shr

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Out For Vengeance

MARKAt first, I thought that Mr. Devon was just kidding, even though I knew that he wasn’t a man that told jokes often, but when I looked at his expression, he seemed very serious about what he just said.“Why should I stay away, Mr. Devon?” I asked him. This was certainly not what I was expecting from him at all. “What you have been accused of is just as criminal as murder, or close. You have been accused of plotting with a man to attack your ex-wife, Mark,” Mr. Devon recounted.“I know what I have been accused of,” I interrupted him impatiently.I hated to get into an argument with Mr. Devon of all people, but then again, this wasn’t something that I wanted to just accept.“And I am innocent,” I added firmly.“We already established that fact, Mark, but until proven otherwise, the public does not share the same sentiment. What you should have done when Alexa decided to file a case against you is ensure that it never gets out to the public,” Mr. Devon said.“And that was because I

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Legal Advice

MARK“Mr. Mark Ronaldo, who happened to be the savior of his ex-wife, Miss Alexa, when she was attacked, has been accused of actually perpetrating the act. Her attacker confessed to being hired by Mr. Mark Ronaldo, and Miss Alexa, although now on a tour with one of the city’s most popular pop-stars, has decided to file a case against Mr. Mark. It looks like Paris is going to have some drama when Miss Alexa gets back.”That was the blog news I woke up to. I was enraged, because the lie was spreading, and it shouldn’t be. I might have taken this whole situation for granted, but now, I realized that Alexa was more than ready for war. No one else would have released this to the pubic except her. The cops have no business engaging the blogs about what goes on in their station.“You have got to be kidding me,” I muttered to myself. This wasn’t a good dent on my image and reputation and it seemed as though my silence had been taken for granted. Initially, I didn’t take any drastic actions b

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Like Father Like Daughter

MARKI stopped for a minute and wondered what the lawyer was doing coming from Mr. Silver’s office. Seeing someone like that only meant one thing; Mr. Silver was ready to either give away his company or bequeath it to someone else.I shook off the thought for a minute and proceeded to his office.“Mark Ronaldo, it is such a pleasure to see you,” Mr. Silver said as he ushered me to sit.He poured into two glasses some wine and handed me a glass. One of the men in the city of Paris that I admired a lot was Mr. Silver. We barely got to see each other often, because over the years, he had stopped attending most social functions, and also, our companies didn’t deal on the same thing. However, I had always known that he was a man of integrity and honor, which was why he never really got to the top of the business ladder. He was always so welcoming and cordial even though he might not have anything to benefit from me. It was the respect that I had for his personality and the trust in him tha
