I was anxiously bouncing on the hospital bed while Koa was filling out the release paperwork. I was ecstatic to be finally going home after a week in this dreaded hospital. He came back into the stark white room, seeing me bouncing like the impatient child I was being, and smirked, slightly shaking his head. "Come on, little Dawn. You are now officially free." I squealed and hopped out of the bed. "Was it really that bad for you here?" I nodded, exaggerating slightly. He grinned and held out his hand for me to take, but then looked at me puzzled when I shook my head, smirking. He rolled his eyes, his grin unfaltering then turned his back towards me knowingly. I giggled as I jumped up, then he carried me on his back out of the hospital. Once we were outside, I flipped off the building, "I hope to never see those bitches again!" I shouted towards the hospital doors. I felt Koa shake with his laughter which I quickly joined in.The ride home felt too long, yet too short at the same time.
I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat as my eyes locked with his and my heart was pounding lightly. He cocked an eyebrow up towards the ceiling while waiting for my answer. All that escaped from my lips was a hushed, "What?"He smirked as he continued to hold my wrist, "I asked if you wanted to try hitting my chest once more." I looked up at him, struggling for my words. Before I could respond, he took my other wrist into his other hand, lifting both above my head. His eyes searched mine before leaning in, but stopped with his lips just out of reach. I leaned forward slightly, crashing my lips against his. He began to deepen the kiss when we heard my bedroom door being flung open. We both looked towards the noise, to see my older brothers, Landon and Isaac standing in the doorway. Koa didn't release his hold on my wrists, glaring at them, he demanded, "What?"Landon groaned as Isaac quickly turned around. "Ew! That's my sister. If you wanna do that then do it when I'm not
"Koa?" I whispered as I ran my fingers through his hair. He hasn't moved from his kneeling position in front of me. When he finally lifted his eyes to mine, my heart began to break. His eyes were red-rimmed and the normally icy blue color had turned to a stormy grey."I'm so sorry..." His voice was weak and broken. My eyebrows creased together and he gave a small, sad smile. I leaned down, placing a light kiss on his forehead, then stood up making him follow suit."What are you apologizing for?" I made him look at me. He took a shaky breath attempting to look away again, but I refused to let him."I'm constantly reminded of what I put you through, but I swear that wasn't my intention. Please believe me..." His voice broke especially on the last part. I gave a small smile while I pulled him into a hug."I believe you. I've forgiven you, now it's time to forgive yourself." I whispered into his ear, my arms wrapped tightly around his neck. His hands that were resting on my hips tightened
There was a knock on my door, startling us apart from each other, attempting to catch our breath. I groaned as I attempted to climb off of Koa's lap but his hands held me firmly in place. "Who is it?" Koa called out causing a shocked expression to form on my face. He smirked and gave a quick wink while I childishly stuck out my tongue."It's Azalea...mother called a house meeting. Something is going on and I'm really worried..." My baby sister's voice sounded through the closed door. I looked towards Koa, seeing the suddenly serious look as he released his hold on my hips. I hopped off of his lap and quickly grabbed some clothes. He did the same. When I swung the door open, Azzie and Ethan were both waiting for us. We gathered in the room adjacent to our mother's office, quickly taking our seats."Thank you for everyone joining me. There's been a blackmail letter delivered to the house with a little gift." My mother's voice was stern as she emptied the contents of an envelope. I recog
He quickly stood up and hugged me tightly. I broke down as a sob choked out. Parker rubbed my back until I finally was able to calm back down. "I need a drink...or thirty..." I chuckled grimly. He stared at me with the same expression as a little kid who just saw their dog die. "What?""I wish you wouldn't drink like that...'' He admitted meekly as he turned his eyes down to his hands. "You're always the strong one aside from Dominick...but when you drink...It's always been your way of burying all of your emotions and then you get careless. I thought when Koa would come back, that all of that would stop." His eyes began watering as he tried his best to contain his tears. I pulled him in for another hug while releasing the breath I was holding."I'm so sorry, Park. I didn't realize that by hurting myself, I was hurting you too." I felt ashamed. I hated being the reason for other people's pain, especially my siblings. He gave a small nod as he quickly ran his hand down his face. "You've
I have now been undercover for six months, finding the weak link as my mother put it, in order to find how we could take care of the blackmail incident once and for all. It's my birthday tomorrow and I just wanted to be back at home with my family and Koa. I sighed to myself knowing that my wish wouldn't be coming true. I stared out the window of the large mansion that I called 'home' for the last half of a year when I noticed some flashes coming from down below. I quickly threw on my jacket when I heard the crashing coming from the first floor. Grabbing my hidden pistol and tucking it safely into my holster located under my jacket, I quickly dashed down the stairs.I stood in awe as I took in the sight before me. Standing there were the two sets of twins, Isaac and Landon, and Liam and Parker. They all wore huge grins when they saw me. "Ma found out enough. Time to take you home, little sis." Isaac spoke just as a guy came from behind. The four of them glared as the right-hand grabbe
We spent the rest of the day partying, which would have normally been right up my alley but I hadn't been feeling too well lately. The nausea would come and go so I just figured that the feeling was due to all of the stress that my family and I were under. Ethan noticed that I wasn't drinking any alcohol and came over to sit beside me, his eyebrows knit together in worry. I chuckled quietly and held out my pointer finger trying to smooth out the small "v" that had formed on his forehead just between his eyebrows. "You are just determined to get wrinkles..Aren't you?" He rolled his eyes playfully but didn't smile, instead he simply placed the back of his hand to my forehead."No fever.." He mumbled, causing me to lift a brow in questioning. "I just wanted to know if you're sick. I've never known you to turn down booze, especially now.""What is that supposed to mean? Are you saying I'm an alcoholic?" I questioned him, hearing the bite in my own voice. He simply shook his head while hol
The week went by in a blur. I couldn’t bring myself to actually leave my room as the news began to settle in. A light knock sounded at my door before Parker entered my darkened bedroom. “Hey Eira…how are you feeling?” He whispered. I gave a slight shrug as he sat next to me. “Do you feel like visiting with the family today?” I shook my head as I kept my eyes trained on my lap. “Will you at least think about it?” I gave a small nod causing him to kiss the top of my head before he left me alone. I covered my body with my fuzzy blanket and blinked away the silent tears that had fallen. I tensed when I heard the door open. “Okay. That’s enough.” I glared up towards the tall silhouette standing above me. “Go away Koa.” My voice came out as a raspy whisper. He shook his head as he pulled the blanket off of me.“No. You aren’t the only one that is hurting from this. Now get up.” I glared at him, shaking my head as I stubbornly crossed my arms over my chest. His jaw tensed briefly before he
