Chapter 2

Author: Evelyn
After what felt like an eternity in the dark, I finally forced my eyes open.

In the dim light, Louis was sitting beside me, gently holding my hand.

His golden eyes shimmered, rimmed with red. His voice was hoarse, and he looked at me with what seemed like genuine sorrow. "I'm… so sorry, Jody. If you hadn't sacrificed yourself to save me, you and our pup wouldn't have had to endure all this."

He looked furious as he brought it up, his body trembling with rage.

"I've already ordered the rogues to be hunted down. I swear, I'll avenge you! But…"

His voice faltered, breaking deliberately. "Your injuries were too severe. Your wolf... didn't survive."

Louis looked up at me, his eyes glassy with emotion. "Rest assured, Jody. Even if you can never shift into your wolf again, I won't leave you. I'll still love you, always."

If I hadn't heard the truth with my ears, I might have been fooled by this display of grief and guilt.

However, now that I stare at the expression he had so carefully arranged into sorrow and devotion, all I could do was let out a bitter, involuntary laugh.

So, this was his love.

A love cold enough to kill my wolf, to sever my bond with the Moon Goddess, and to strip me of all my pride.

Louis took my silence as shock. Gently, he stroked my hair and said, "Get some rest. Don't be afraid. I'm here."

Then, he turned and walked out without lingering for even a moment longer.

The moment he left, I snapped my eyes open.

He hadn't taken his laptop.

I hesitated for just a second, after which I opened it.

To my surprise, there was no password.

Apart from some files on the pack, the rest were all photos and videos of Amanda and her newborn pup.

Every frame was crystal clear, every one driving me closer to the edge.

My hands began to tremble. Rage clawed its way through me, devouring everything else.

In one video, Louis was placing a hand-carved wooden amulet around the neck of Amanda's pup. I recognized it.

Back when I was pregnant, Louis stayed up night after night working on it. He said it was meant for our pup.

It wasn't until today that I finally saw it clearly—the carving looked exactly like Amanda.

I let out a cold, broken laugh.

Compared to me, who was battered and left for dead, Amanda looked every inch the perfect Luna. She stood beside Louis, smiling, cradling their pup in her arms. The three of them looked like a picture-perfect family.

However, they took away my pup's chance of ever being born into this world.

My chest felt like it had been ripped open, shredded by claws.

Tears, tinged with the taste of blood, slid down my cheeks and into my mouth.

Suddenly, the screen shifted, and a video popped up out of nowhere. It was footage of me being raped by the rogues.

I watched, numb, as Louis transferred 350 thousand dollars to them.

"Pleasure doing business with you. Reach out again if you ever need anything."

I gagged, retching hard, as if I were back in that nightmare.

This… was his thank-you gift to them for destroying me.

What I had believed was an act of selfless sacrifice was just a performance he had paid for.

I held it in for a long time before I could finally suppress the urge to break down and scream.

Then, I wiped away my tears, sent the photos and videos to my phone, and deleted all traces from the laptop.

Since Louis loved putting on a show, I'd play along to his tune.

I took out my phone and sent a message to a number. "Three days later. Die on the spot. At the tower in Central Square."

"Jody? Jody! Don't look at any of it. It's all lies!"Louis dropped to his knees in the pool of blood, his sharp claws digging deep into the cold stone beneath him. His voice came out like it had been torn from a shredded throat."I just wanted to give Amanda's pup a name. I never meant to hurt you. I never wanted to terminate our mate bond…"I planned to cut things off with her after today and come back to you, where I belong… I was wrong… Jody… I was so wrong. It was my fault. I killed our pup… I'm sorry… I'm so sorry…"He didn't know how long he had cried. Eventually, his voice gave out completely, fading to broken sobs and silence. Then, his body convulsed, and he spat blood onto the altar stone. At last, Louis collapsed beside my lifeless body and lost consciousness....Meanwhile, a beat-up car slowly pulled into the snowy plains outside the pack.Inside sat a pale woman with fierce, unwavering eyes.As the car stopped, she stepped out and looked up at a tall figure wai

Several patrols stood in a loose circle around me, keeping their distance. Their eyes were filled with sorrow and pity. When they saw Louis approaching, they instinctively bowed their heads in respect, then hesitantly greeted him. "Mr. Ross."Louis stumbled forward, his gaze locked onto the body wrapped in white cloth. He shook his head in disbelief. "No… No, it can't be Jody…"His hands trembled violently as he reached for the white cloth. It took him several tries to finally open it.That face—etched into his very bones—lay there in haunting stillness. Her features still held the last traces of defiance, and the blood had already begun to dry. There was no breath or heartbeat.Louis' chest tightened sharply, as if a wolf's claws had torn straight through it.His throat convulsed with a ragged sob, and he coughed up a mouthful of blood. Then, he sank to his knees, growling and sobbing uncontrollably. "Jody… Jody, it's me. It's Louis! Please open your eyes and just look at me.

Louis let out a low, dangerous growl. "What did you just say?! Say that again!"Beta trembled from head to toe, his tail pressed tightly against the backs of his legs. His voice shook as he repeated himself. "T-The patrol just came down from the tower and reported that there was a woman on top of the altar..."Louis grabbed Beta's shoulders so hard that he nearly drew blood. "Speak clearly!"Beta paled, his knees buckling under him. "H-He said… it was Luna… She jumped from the highest point of the tower in Central Square. She died on the spot."Louis and the others heard Beta loud and clear this time.Everyone present fell silent. The only sound was the crackling of flames from the ceremonial fire.Louis froze. "You're lying! Jody would never jump! I was going to make things right after the ceremony. Why would she leave me? You're lying! Where is she? Where's my Luna?"He shoved Beta aside and began pacing the stone platform like a madman.Amanda, who had been standing behind h

After the crowd of werewolves finally cleared, I staggered to my feet and dragged my battered body step by step back home.As soon as I opened the door, I saw Amanda sitting comfortably on the couch. She gave me a quick once-over before letting out a mocking laugh. "I haven't seen you in five years, and you've really turned into a pathetic mess?"How did it feel to be handed over to rogues by your Alpha? You're disgusting."So, she knew everything Louis had done. Her words got crueler."You're just like your dead mother, who couldn't even hold on to her own Alpha. Oh, right. It's not just your Alpha—you couldn't even hold on to the pup inside you, and also your wolf."With a sneer, she slowly pulled a translucent crystal from her leather pouch. Inside, it was a tiny bone fragment. My pupils constricted. My heart clenched so hard it felt like it would shatter. Was that my pup?Amanda dangled the crystal in front of me and asked, "Do you recognize it? That's your pup's skull. L

"Jody, you're supposed to be resting. How could you end up wandering around?" Louis asked. Before I could answer, Amanda stepped in front of me."Jody, it's been a while."Amanda was my stepsister, brought into my life after my mother died and my father remarried. As kids, she refused to acknowledge me as her sister. She used to hit me and steal my lunch. It was the first time I had ever seen this innocent act she was putting on now.Sensing the coldness in my stare, Louis quickly tried to smooth things over. "Sweetheart, don't get the wrong idea. After what happened to you, Amanda has been feeling scared lately. I was just keeping her company and about to take her home."I offered a faint smile. "She clearly means a lot to you. I'm not angry."Louis' expression softened a little. "It makes me happy to see you two getting along."I didn't want to hear another word from him. I turned and walked away. However, I hadn't gone far when I noticed a pack of werewolves staring at me

Early the next morning, Louis came by with breakfast, but he reeked of another Omega. The scent hit me instantly, and I doubled over with nausea, gripping the bed as I dry-heaved.He rushed to my side, gently rubbing my back like he actually cared. "Sweetheart, is it your wound? Don't be scared. I'm here."I looked up at him in silence. If he didn't love me, why did he keep pretending? Why couldn't he let me go? Why must he destroy me?Just then, Beta burst into the room, his panic all over his face. "Mr. Ross, something bad happened! Someone leaked the video of Mrs. Ross being assaulted by the rogues!"Louis spun around, his face draining of all color. "What? Who the hell recorded that?"Beta stayed silent.Turning sharply, Louis glanced at me before storming out. "Sweetheart, wait for me. I promise I'll fix this!"I nodded but quietly followed after him."Mr. Ross, if we act now, we can still take it down. Just give the order!" Beta said. However, Louis let out a cold, dis
