Devon’s POV

She passed out within the first five minutes of the drive.

At first, I was lowkey worried she’d just sleep through the entire thing and leave me hanging, but thankfully, she stirred awake the moment I shifted the car into park.

“Are we here?” she murmured sleepily, peeking out the window.

“Yeah. You still up for this? You look exhausted. I seriously thought you were going to sleep on me the entire way,” I teased half-jokingly as I stepped out to open the door for her.

“Oh, sorry... it’s probably the alcohol. Or maybe your car is just way too comfortable,” she mumbled, taking my hand as she slowly slid out of the seat. “But I’m okay, I can manage.”

She swayed a little, her balance giving out. Instinct kicked in, and I immediately caught her by the waist to steady her.

“Yep, that definitely doesn’t look okay to me,” I muttered.

She giggled, tilting her head back to look up at me. “Sorry, just a little tipsy. Wait... how tall are you anyway? You're huge. Are you a basketball player?”

I let out a soft chuckle, guiding her toward the elevator.

“I’m 6'2". But nope, never played basketball. I used to play baseball, though.” I hit the elevator button while she leaned heavily against my chest.

“Oh, okay. I used to play basketball back then because I’m tall. I’m 5'8", by the way.”

I nodded.

Yeah, she was definitely on the taller side. Even in her heels, our height difference was perfect.

She was all legs. And for the record, this was the first time I’d ever been on a date with a girl who could actually keep up with my stride.

As the elevator ascended and she leaned closer into my chest, feeling her soft body pressed against mine sent a sudden surge of anticipation straight through my veins.

The moment we reached the penthouse, I led her straight into the living room. By then, my throat was practically bone-dry from pure anticipation. I told her I’d grab us something to drink from the kitchen. She flashed me a sweet, sleepy smile and sank into the couch like she absolutely belonged there.

Taking that as my cue, I bolted to the kitchen, ripped open the fridge, and chugged a bottle of cold water.

Once I finally managed to calm my racing pulse, I grabbed two bottles of San Pellegrino and headed back. As I walked in, I saw her fanning herself with her hand.

“Gosh, why is it so hot in here...?”

She picked up a magazine from the coffee table and started fanning her chest, inadvertently giving me a front-row, unrestricted view of her assets. I swallowed hard, the water I just drank completely evaporating from my throat.

Fuck.

One of those alone could easily fill both of my hands.

I shook my head, fighting for sanity.

Nope.

She’s drunk, Devon.

Don't be a creep.

Do not take advantage.

“Um... it’s probably just the alcohol,” I stammered, trying my best to keep my hand steady as I handed her the bottle. “Here, drink this to cool down.”

She took it and practically chugged it, which immediately made her choke. Water spilled everywhere, drenching the front of her blouse.

And as if things couldn’t get any worse (or better?), the wet fabric clung to her chest, making the material completely translucent. God help me, I could practically see everything underneath.

“Oh shit, I’m so clumsy. I’m sorry,” she stammered, blushing.

It took my brain a solid, lagging minute to reboot. “No, it’s—it’s fine. I, uh, I have a t-shirt. Yeah, you can wear it for now. Hold on, let me grab it.”

I practically tripped over my own feet running to my bedroom.

I rushed back and handed her the oversized tee.

I was just about to point her toward the bathroom when, to my absolute shock, she casually pulled her soaked blouse right off over her head.

Right there.

In the middle of my living room. Like she was totally alone in her own house.

My jaw literally hit the floor.

And to make matters worse, she wasn't wearing a bra. Instead, she just had those tiny, jelly-like silicon nipple covers on. With zero support, her breasts moved completely free, bouncing right in front of my eyes.

God knows I tried to look away.

I really did.

But it felt like I’d been struck by lightning; I couldn't move a single muscle.

I stood there, utterly paralyzed, watching her until she finally pulled my t-shirt over her head.

“Mmm... now this feels way more comfortable,” she purred, stretching her arms up in the air like a sleepy cat.

I swallowed hard, my brain still trying to process the absolute whiplash of the last sixty seconds.

Then, she looked up at me. “Devon, I’m sorry, but I think you’re right. I really need some sleep.”

My mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water, forcing myself to say literally anything.

But fuck, nothing came out.

“Devon? Is it okay if I crash here for a bit?”

Shit! Say something, Devon.

Don’t just stare at her like you’ve never seen a gorgeous girl before.

Say something before she labels you a total creep!

“Um, yeah. Of—of course. Come on, I’ll show you the room.” I forcefully dragged my shaky legs forward and led her to my bedroom, where my king-sized bed was waiting.

My room was freezing compared to the living room—the default temperature I always set for a good night’s sleep.

She immediately wrapped her arms around herself to ward off the chill.

“Do you want me to turn down the AC?” I asked.

“No need. I actually prefer it like this.”

I nodded.

Thinking she’d probably want some space to sleep it off, I turned to leave.

But before I could take a step, her hand shot out and grabbed my wrist.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

“I’ll sleep on the couch in the living room. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine—”

“Are you crazy? No way. Sleep here with me. What was the point of me coming over if we’re not even going to cuddle? Unless... you think I smell bad or something?”

“That’s completely untrue. You smell amazing. It’s just that—”

“Then sleep here. Otherwise, I’m leaving right now.”

I let out a breathless laugh at her sheer stubbornness.

This woman was seriously something else.

“Fine. I’ll sleep here,” I gave in, letting my gaze slowly drag from her head down to her legs. “But I’m warning you right now... I can’t guarantee I’ll behave myself. Especially not when you’re looking like that.”

She giggled, and god, that sound was quickly becoming my absolute favorite melody.

“Well... try me,” she winked.

She collapsed onto the mattress, giving me a teasing look that sent a sudden, dangerous rush of heat straight to my blood.

Maya“So it’s officially confirmed? Devon is really coming?!” Luisa blurted out the exact second I stepped through the front glass doors of the atelier.“Yeah. Carla just called me a few minutes ago,” I answered tightly, not even bothering to slow my pace or greet her properly. I brushed right past her and headed straight for the back pantry, feeling a sudden urge for a strong cup of scalding black coffee to cut through the thick fog of anxiety settling over my brain. “Can you imagine? She tells me today—when my flight is literally first thing tomorrow morning.”“I swear to God, it’s a trap. I smell something fishy,” Luisa insisted, hot on my heels like a detective on a fresh lead. She leaned against the doorframe, crossing her arms over her chest as I aggressively jammed a espresso pod into the machine. “Don't you think Kayden and Carla collaborated with Devon behind your back? They're practically family, after all.”“I really don't think so,” I said, listening to the loud, viole

Devon“Dev, just promise me one fucking thing: do not make a scene. I swear to God, Carla will have my head on a platter if you ruin this,” Kayden warned, reminding me for what felt like the tenth damn time over the phone.“Kayden, relax. You know me,” I replied with a low, easy smirk, leaning back in my leather chair while staring intensely at Maya’s Instagram profile on my laptop screen. “I’ve never been one to pick fights or get caught up in useless drama. Besides, why the hell would I embarrass my own best friend on his big day?”Of all her social media accounts, Instagram was the only platform where she hadn't blocked me. She probably assumed I’d abandoned the app ages ago, considering how rarely I ever posted anything. And for that oversight, I had never been more grateful. At least this way, I still had a small, fragile window into her world.Yes, I had been obsessively stalking her profile ever since the day she packed her bags and left me.It had been five goddamn long years

MayaThe moment I ended my call with Luisa, another incoming call lit up my screen. It was George. My younger brother.“Well, well. To what do I owe this surprise?” I answered with a smile, tightening the plush towel wrapped securely around my body. “How can your favorite sister help you?”“Oh, I definitely need your help,” he replied without hesitation. “Get your butt over here and open your condo door.”I frowned and instinctively glanced toward the foyer.Standing outside the entryway was George, still wearing his pale blue medical scrubs, waving both arms dramatically through the frosted glass panel.A second later, Mom and Dad stepped into view behind him, both wearing warm smiles as they struggled to hold several takeaway bags from my favorite Chinese restaurant.“Hurry up!” George yelled through the phone. “I’m starving out here!”A genuine smile spread across my face, instantly melting away the lingering heaviness in my chest.I ended the call, set my phone on the lounge ch

But to my absolute annoyance, the noise didn't stop.
