ログインIris’s POV
One of the rogues snarled and lunged at me.
I dove out of the way, barely missing his claws. I hit the ground hard, and my shoulder slammed into a tree. Pain exploded through my arm.
But I didn’t stop, I ran, and they chased after me immediately.
Branches whipped across my face. My legs were already burning from the long walk, but adrenaline carried me as I ran without looking back.
I could hear the sound of growls and paws behind me as the rogues gained on me.
I tried calling my wolf again, even begged profusely.
Still nothing.
I dodged a low branch, but thorns tore into my arm. I didn’t stop.
I knew I couldn’t outrun them, but I had to try.
I pushed my body harder. My lungs burned. My legs screamed. I could hear one of the rogues breathing hard behind me, while the other was moving through the forest to block my way.
I glanced back, and fear gripped me. There were five of them now with their blazing red eyes fixed on me.
I pushed harder, using all the strength I had to zigzag, and jump over logs, trying to look for ways to slow them down.
But I was slowing down.
My legs were getting heavier with each step. I was getting dizzy. I hadn’t eaten in almost a day.
A weight slammed into me from behind.
I hit the ground with a scream as a sharp pain tore through my side.
The rogue towered over me, red eyes glowing, saliva dripping from its mouth as it growled.
I grabbed a thick stick and slammed it into its face.
It barely flinched.
Its claws slashed down, ripping through my shoulder. I cried out and kicked at its legs, trying to crawl away.
It lunged at me, its sharp teeth aiming for my throat.
I screamed and threw my arms up to block it. Instead, the rogue clamped down on my forearm.
Agony ripped through me as I kicked and thrashed, screaming.
Another wolf came in from the side, snapping at my leg. I began kicking wildly.
My hand searched blindly until I felt a sharp rock.
I grabbed it and slammed it into the wolf’s head twice.
The grip on my arm loosened.
I rolled away, gasping, crawling backward.
Blood gushed from the wound, and my entire arm was burning with pain.
I clutched it tightly, trying to stop the bleeding, but the gash was too deep. It was getting harder to breath. My heart pounded so fast that my chest hurt.
The wolves didn’t rush at me like I expected them to. Instead, they circled around me, pacing slowly, as they bared their fangs.
It was almost like they were toying with me.
My heart pounded harder. I tried to crawl back, but my limbs were trembling, useless. I could barely move.
One of them stepped closer and swiped at my leg. It wasn't deep, but it was enough to make me scream.
They were enjoying this.
A wave of dizziness hit me. I couldn’t focus.
I was going to die right here, in the middle of the woods, torn apart ruthlessly by these rogues, and left for the vultures.
I wanted to fight, but my body refused. My strength was gone. My wolf was silent, buried deep in grief. She didn’t even stir. She had abandoned me long ago, maybe even before Evie died.
My mind raced. Then, I saw her.
Evie.
She was laughing, chasing butterflies behind the house, and spinning around in her yellow dress. She gave me wide smile.
“Mommy, look! I caught one!”
Her sweet voice echoed inside my head, and tears ran down my face.
I saw her again. This time she was in my arms looking so weak and pale as she made me promise to be happy.
“I’m okay, Mommy…”
I squeezed my eyes shut.
I’m sorry, baby.
I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you. I’m sorry I’m not stronger.
I slumped down, feeling defeated.
The rogues stalked closer, as if they sensed it. That I was done, and that I had given up.
I blinked up at the trees, and the sky.
So this is how it ends.
The rogue in front of me growled low in its throat, crouched down, ready to pounce at me.
I closed my eyes, and braced myself, taking one last breath.
“I love you, Evie.”
Rowan’s POVI didn’t think or hesitate.I lunged. My body launched forward, charging toward Maximus with a roar of pure rage.I would kill him. I would rip him to pieces for touching Iris, for kissing her, for whatever he had done to make her act like this. But before I could reach him, Iris moved. She stepped directly in front of Maximus, placing herself between us like a shield.“No!” she said sharply, her hands raised. “Don’t you dare touch him!”I skidded to a stop, barely managing to pull back my attack. My fist had been aimed at Maximus’s face, but it stopped inches from Iris instead.“Move,” I growled, my voice barely human. “Iris, move out of the way.”“No,” she said firmly. “I won’t let you hurt him.”“He kidnapped you!” I roared. “He’s been holding you prisoner! Move!”“I’m not moving,” Iris retorted, her chin lifting stubbornly. “And he didn’t kidnap me. I came here willingly.”The lie hit me like a physical blow.“That’s not true,” I snapped, shaking my head. “You didn’t c
Rowan's POVI stood frozen in the empty hallway, my heart pounding violently in my chest. That voice.I knew that voice. My eyes snapped upward toward the staircase, searching for the source. And there she was.Iris.She was standing at the top of the stairs, looking down at me with a small smile on her lips.Relief crashed through me so intensely that my knees nearly gave out.She was alive. She was here. She was okay."Iris," I breathed, my voice barely above a whisper. She looked beautiful. Her hair was clean and brushed. She was wearing a simple yellow dress that looked comfortable. There were no visible injuries on her body. She didn't look like someone who had been kidnapped and tortured. But something felt off.I couldn't put my finger on it, but something about the way she was standing, the way she was looking at me, felt wrong. My wolf stirred inside me, trying to push forward, trying to tell me something. But I ignored him.All I could see was Iris.I took one step forward,
Iris’s POVAs Maximus's lips pressed against mine again, my body responded eagerly, and it made me sick. My hands moved to his chest, pulling him closer, while internally I was screaming and pleading.Stop! Stop! This isn't me! Please, someone help me!Suddenly, the door burst open with a loud bang that echoed through the room.Maximus pulled away from the kiss, his head snapping toward the door. A deep, threatening growl rumbled from his chest."What the hell is your problem?" he snarled at the intruder. It was Oliver again. His face was pale, and sweat beaded on his forehead. His usual composed expression had completely crumbled, replaced by genuine fear."Alpha," Oliver gasped, clearly out of breath. "The Alpha King is here, and he's pissed."Maximus's expression darkened slightly, but he didn't look panicked. "So? We knew he would come eventually.""He interrogated the palace guard you hired," Oliver continued urgently. "Cole talked before he died. The King knows you're behind Iri
Iris's POVWhen I opened my eyes, sunlight was shining through the windows—I was no longer in that dreaded underground room. I was back in the luxurious room that I had stayed the first day I came to this pack. The soft mattress, the expensive sheets, and the warm blanket felt like heaven compared to where I had been staying. It felt like I was experiencing sunlight for the first time in years. But something was different. My body felt strange and wrong somehow.I tried to move my hand, but it wouldn't respond the way I wanted it to. It felt like there was a delay, like my body was moving on its own without waiting for my commands. What was happening?"You're awake."A voice came from beside the bed, and the moment I heard it, something inside me exploded with joy.Pure, overwhelming happiness flooded through me so strong it stole my breath. But why? Why was I feeling this way?I turned my head toward the voice, and my eyes landed on Maximus. He was sitting in a chair beside the bed,
Rowan’s POVRelief flooded through me as I watched Sebastian’s lies crumble under the King's interrogation.Finally.Finally, someone with a lot of power to help was on our side. But then Sebastian's expression changed. The fear and uncertainty vanished, replaced by a cold and defiant expression. He scowled, then snarled directly at the Alpha King."This changes nothing," Sebastian growled. "You're all trespassing on our territory. Leave now, or we will make you."Everyone went silent in shock.I couldn't believe what I was hearing. No one spoke to the Alpha King like that. No one.More wolves emerged from the forest and from behind the pack house. Dozens of them began taking aggressive stances."You dare?" Silas barked, his voice echoing with power. His Alpha aura pressed down with crushing force. But the wolves didn't react. They didn't cower or submit like they should have. They just stood there, completely unaffected.Sebastian smirked, noticing our shock."That doesn't work on us
Rowan’s POVI shifted back to human form, standing naked and bloodied before the Alpha King. I panted heavily from exhaustion, but I kept my head high."Your Majesty," I said, my voice rough. "My mate is in there. I can feel her. She's inside that pack house."Something flickered across Silas's face. His eyes narrowed slightly."You can feel her?" he asked, his voice neutral."Yes," I said firmly. "Through our mate bond. She's here. Maximus has her."Silas studied me for a long moment. Then he turned to face the beta who had led the attack against us.The man had shifted back to human form and was standing with several of his warriors behind him."What is your name?" Silas asked."Sebastian, Your Majesty," the beta replied. "Beta of the Red Storm Pack.""Beta Sebastian," Silas said slowly. "Alpha Rowan claims he can feel his mate inside your pack house. He claims she's being held here against her will. So the question now is... why?"Sebastian stiffened. The wolves around him tensed u
