Iris’s POV

A loud snarl echoed through the air, and it was completely different from the rogue’s. It sounded stronger and more commanding.

The rogues in front of me froze, and their ears twitched.

Then suddenly, a huge black wolf burst through the trees like a large blur.

He crashed into the rogue on top of me, sending it flying into a tree with a sickening crack.

I blinked, dazed. I didn’t understand what I was seeing. My vision was spinning, as my body got weaker.

The other two turned, snarling, but he was already on them. He tackled one to the ground, sinking his teeth into its throat. Blood sprayed all over.

One rogue tried to pounce, but he was faster. He turned mid-air, catching the wolf by the throat and slamming it into a tree so hard the bark split. The rogue didn’t get back up.

The last rogue backed away slowly. Then, with a whimper, it turned and vanished into the woods.

The black wolf didn’t chase it.
