Iris's POV

After training, Shane was already waiting for me with anticipation in his eyes. The moment I got close, he blurted out, “Okay, what the hell was that?”

I furrowed my eyebrows as I grabbed my water bottle. “What was what?”

Shane gaped at me in disbelief. “Don't pretend not to know.”

Jasmine met up with us on the way back, walking beside me. “Pretend about what?”

I turned to Shane, “Yes, Shane. Pretend about what?”

Shane threw his hands up in exasperation. “Eric. I thought we hated him and wanted nothing to do with him. But this morning she was out there sparring with him like they were old friends. What happened to ‘he killed my daughter’ and ‘I never want to see him again’?”

I sighed heavily. “It's not that simple.”

“Then explain it to us,” Shane said, his voice rose slightly. “Because from where I was standing, it looked very confusing.”
