Chapter 6

Author: Tcee Eke
Elara’s POV

I never meant to become the Luna of another pack.

For the first few weeks after my fake death, I barely left my room.

My body was still recovering from the strain of the broken bond, and my wolf needed time to accept that Adrian was no longer her mate.

Ash Thorn gave me that time.

He was the Alpha of the Thorn Pack, one of the most powerful packs in the region.

His territory was rich, his warriors were feared, and his resources rivaled Blackwood territory.

Elara’s POVAdrian didn’t answer me immediately. He stood across the room, staring at the mark on my neck as though it had finally become real to him then he lowered his head.“I’ve ended things with Selene.”I frowned. “She knows?”“She does now.”His voice was rough. “I’ll provide for her and the pup. But I don’t want to continue living a lie.”I looked at him. “And what exactly do you want from me?”His eyes met mine. “You.”I almost smiled. “Adrian, you lost me five years ago.”“I know.”He stepped closer. “I’ve spent these past months understanding what I threw away. I was so certain fate gave me the right to keep both of you that I never stopped to consider what it was doing to you.”For once, there was no arrogance in his voice, only regret.“I can’t change what happened but you could still come back.”I shook my head. “There’s nothing for me to return to.”His shoulders fell. After a long silence, he picked up the dissolution papers. His fingers trembled slightly as he signed.

Elara’s POVAsh kept showing up after that.Sometimes with breakfast. Sometimes with Rowan tucked under one arm after taking him to train with the younger wolves.Sometimes he simply appeared in my study, dropped a cup of tea beside me, and stayed until I finished whatever pack business I was handling.Somewhere along the way, Rowan stopped treating him like a stranger. He started waiting by the window whenever Ash went out.Three weeks after the incident at Blackfang Peak, Selene came to the Thorn Pack. She found me in the Luna’s office while I was reviewing pack reports. She looked different. Heavily pregnant, tired, but still wearing the confidence of a woman who believed she had already won.“I thought you were dead,” she said, lowering herself into the chair across from me.“So did everyone else.”Her fingers rested over her stomach. “Adrian hasn’t been himself since you came back.”I closed the file in front of me. “That isn’t my concern.”“He barely sleeps. He refuses to accept

  • Too Late for Regret, Alpha!   Chapter 7

Elara’s POVBlackfang Peak was already surrounded by warriors when Ash and I arrived.Adrian stood at the edge of the cliff. The wind tore at his clothes, but he didn’t move.Selene was below the mountain, being held back by several warriors. She was heavily pregnant.“Adrian!” she screamed. “Get down from there! You’re going to kill yourself!”He didn’t answer. His eyes were fixed on the ravine below.“I'll be with my sweet Elara soon,” he muttered.Ash’s jaw tightened. “If he falls from there, his wolf won’t survive.”I swallowed.Adrian knew that, but at that moment, he inhaled deeply and his eyes found mine.He froze. “Elara?”For a moment, nobody moved, then he took a step toward me.“You’re alive.” His voice broke.I said nothing. He came closer. “I knew it. I knew you couldn’t be dead.”Ash stepped in front of me. “Stay where you are.”Adrian’s eyes shifted to him then his expression changed.“Ash Thorn.”“Blackwood.”The two Alphas stared at each other.Adrian’s gaze dropped to

Whenever one of them acquired something valuable, the other found a way to acquire something better. They were always competing. Now I knew why Adrian had hated him so much.Ash had saved my life and he never once asked me to repay him. While I recovered, messages from Adrian began appearing on my phone. At first, they were angry.Where are you? Then suspicious.I know you’re hiding somewhere.A week later, they changed.El

  • Too Late for Regret, Alpha!   Chapter 5

Elara’s POVI looked at Selene’s hand resting over her stomach then I remembered the words I’d spoken at the Moonstone Registry.I don’t want another child contesting Rowan’s place.I had asked Adrian for one thing and fate had already given him the exact thing I feared most.“But you promised me you'll not have any other child,” I said without thinking.Adrian’s expression turned cold. He caught my arm and dragged me into the corridor before I could say another word.“What the hell do you think you’re doing?”I pulled my arm free.“You promised Rowan would always be your only heir.”“He is my heir.”“And Selene’s pup?”His jaw tightened. “She’s carrying my child so that child will be mine too.”“You promised me.”“I made that promise five years ago, Elara.” His voice was cold. “Before I knew my fated mate would give me another pup.”I stared at him. “So that’s it?”“What do you want me to do?”“Keep your promise.”Adrian laughed without humor. “No one is taking Rowan’s place.”“Not ye

  • Too Late for Regret, Alpha!   Chapter 4

Elara’s POVMrs. Blackwood was smiling at the screen, her eyes filled with happiness.“I'm so glad you found your fated mate, Adrian. Take care of her.”Adrian smiled from the phone. “Don’t worry, Mom. I’ll take care of her.”I stood silently in the doorway. For ten years, Mrs. Blackwood had treated me like the daughter she never had but now she was already making room for Selene.“Elara?” Her smile disappeared when she noticed me.I forced one onto my face. “Don't mind me. I'm just passing through.”Before she could say anything, I turned and walked away.I went to the lake behind the old pack grounds—the place where Adrian had first kissed me.The place where we’d promised that no matter what happened, we’d always choose each other. At midnight, I sent the finalized bond dissolution to his phone. This is my final decision. His call came immediately. “You’ve lost your mind.”I stared at the water. “I'm tired of pretending, Adrian.”“I'm sick of this, Elara,” he snapped.“Then just end
