“Miss Anna, it’s time for dinner,” Ferdi said as he knocked politely on her door.

“Yes, just a moment,” Anna replied. She hurried to smooth her hair before opening the door.

“Sir and Madam are already waiting in the dining room,” Ferdi continued. “Please, allow me to escort you.”

Anna nodded and followed him down the long corridor of the large mansion. The comforting aroma of warm soup drifted toward her as they neared the dining hall.

“Anna, come sit here,” Matilda called with a warm smile the moment Anna appeared at the doorway.

“Sorry for keeping you waiting, Mom,” Anna said softly.

“It’s alright. Besides, Liam still hasn’t come home,” Matilda replied casually—making Anna narrow her eyes in confusion.

“Liam?”

“Liam is our only son, Anna,” Jonathan explained gently.

Anna nodded and tried to return the smile, though something uneasy tugged inside her chest.

Probably just a coincidence—the name, she told herself.

She had just pulled her chair when a deep voice echoed from behind her.

“Mom, why did you tell me to come home?”

Anna turned instinctively—and her knees nearly buckled. It felt as if the floor dropped beneath her feet.

“Anna? What’s wrong?” Matilda asked in alarm, catching Anna’s arm. “Are you feeling sick?”

“N-No… I’m fine, Mom,” Anna answered nervously, her voice trembling.

God… this is the Alonzo family?

She bit her lip hard, trying to steady her breathing.

“Liam, this is Anna,” Matilda said brightly, oblivious to the tension in the air. “Starting today, she’ll be living with us.”

“You decided to adopt someone just like that?” Liam asked sharply, his gaze sweeping over Anna from head to toe, making her freeze in place.

“You’re rarely home. The house feels lonely. Isn’t that right, Dad?” Matilda looked to her husband for backup.

Jonathan nodded firmly. “Exactly. And you don’t get to oppose our decision.”

Liam let out a quiet scoff. “Do whatever you want. But do you even know where she came from? What if she’s some crazy drunk?”

Anna’s face drained of color. Her hands trembled beneath the table.

“Liam! Don’t say such things!” Matilda snapped.

“That’s enough,” Jonathan cut in firmly, stopping the argument before it could escalate. “Let’s just eat.”

Anna sat down across from Liam, but she didn’t dare lift her gaze. His cold aura seeped across the table, tightening her chest. Even the soft clink of cutlery sounded uncomfortably loud.

After dinner, Anna went straight back to her room, desperate to keep her distance from Liam. But when she reached the third floor, she abruptly stopped.

Liam was there—talking to Ferdi in a low, firm tone.

When he sensed her presence, he turned.

For a few tense seconds, their eyes locked.

Cold. Sharp. Unyielding.

Then, without a word, Liam looked away and entered the room directly beside hers.

“Miss Anna? Why are you spacing out?” Ferdi asked, breaking the silence.

“That… that’s Mr. Liam’s room?” Anna’s voice was barely audible.

“Yes, Miss,” Ferdi replied politely. “And the room to the right of yours is his private office. I suggest you keep your distance from that area.”

The warning made Anna swallow hard, her heartbeat stumbling.

She nodded weakly, and Ferdi walked away, leaving her alone in the corridor.

Anna quickly slipped into her room and shut the door tightly, as though afraid even her breath might be heard.

“Out of all the rooms in this huge house, why did they put me next to his?” she muttered in frustration, hugging her arms.

The one man she wanted to avoid more than anything…

was now only a single wall away.

Anna was in the restroom of a restaurant. After washing her hands, she dried them with a tissue before stepping outside. She had barely taken a few steps when someone suddenly grabbed her wrist.Anna flinched and instinctively tried to pull her hand free.“When did you start seeing Liam?” Rendy demanded bluntly.“That’s none of your business.” Anna struggled against his grip. “Let go!”“I told you we were going to get back together. Why couldn’t you wait for me?” Rendy’s anger was becoming increasingly difficult to control.Anna glared at him.“From the moment I decided to divorce you, Rendy, I never had any intention of getting back together.”“I know you still love me. You’re just trying to get revenge on me, aren’t you?”His words made Anna feel sick. She could hardly believe that, after everything they had been through, Rendy could still be so arrogant.“You’re incredibly full of yourself, Rendy,” Anna said coldly. “I would never go back to you. Not now. Not ever.”“Don’t be so st

Liam looked at Anna, as though he were still waiting for her final reassurance. He knew she hadn’t completely agreed to make their relationship public.“I’m okay with it,” Anna said softly.“Are you sure? You really don’t mind if everyone finds out about us?” Liam asked again, just to be certain.Anna nodded.Instantly, Liam’s expression brightened. A wide smile spread across his face, as though she had finally given him the permission he had been waiting for all this time.Without thinking twice, Liam pulled Anna into his arms.“Not so tight, Liam! Remember, there’s a baby in there now,” Matilda scolded.Realizing what he had done, Liam immediately loosened his embrace.“Sorry. I’m just too happy,” he admitted, still looking ridiculously pleased.Matilda and Jonathan exchanged amused glances before smiling at their son. Liam, who was usually so composed and rarely showed his emotions, now looked like a man who had just won the most precious prize in the world.“Take good care of Anna

“Anna,” Matilda called out as Anna had just finished making her rounds.Anna immediately smiled. Matilda hurried over and pulled her daughter-in-law into a warm embrace.“Liam already told Mom. I’m so happy to hear the news. Thank you, sweetheart, for carrying our grandchild,” Matilda said, her eyes glistening with tears.“Don’t cry. You’re going to confuse Anna,” Jonathan said, standing beside her.“I’m just so happy. Aren’t you happy that we’re going to have a grandchild?”“How could I not be? If I could, I’d announce it to the whole world right now,” Jonathan replied without hesitation. His words made Anna laugh softly.“Mom, Dad, do you want to talk in my office?”“Sure. Come on, let’s see our precious daughter’s office. If Anna’s room isn’t comfortable enough, we’ll have to scold Liam,” Matilda declared.“That boy must have gotten it from someone else. He doesn’t know how to pamper his wife. Nothing like me,” Jonathan chimed in.“Liam is very good to me, Dad,” Anna defended her h

That night, the bedroom was filled with a quiet sense of peace.Liam stood behind Anna, gently drying her hair with a hairdryer. Every now and then, his fingers slipped through her hair, making sure no strand was left damp.Sitting in front of the vanity, Anna couldn't help but smile at the tenderness he was showing her.“So, when can I finally tell the world that you're my wife?” Liam suddenly asked.Anna raised an eyebrow at him through the mirror.“When I'm in the mood.”Liam chuckled softly. “Then what do I need to do to put you in a good mood?”Anna pretended to think.“What do you want? A bag? Clothes? Shoes?”Anna immediately shook her head.“I want spaghetti. But I want you to make it for me.”Liam's hand stopped mid-motion.“Now?”Anna nodded.“Wait here, okay? I'll make it for you.”Anna turned around, looking at him in disbelief. “You really want to cook for me?”“Of course.” Liam immediately switched off the hairdryer. “Is there anything else you want, Honey?”Anna shook h

The moment she heard the door open, Anna, who had been sitting lost in thought, immediately looked up.Her gaze landed on Liam as he stepped into the room.“Liam?”He didn’t answer right away. He simply walked toward her, his steps slow and deliberate. There was something different in his expression, something unusually serious in his eyes.Anna frowned in confusion. But before she could ask what was wrong, Liam suddenly dropped to one knee in front of her.Anna’s eyes widened in alarm.“Liam, what are you doing?” she asked, panicking.Liam looked up at her. The gaze that was usually so commanding and confident was now filled with something Anna had rarely seen in him—fear.“Please… don’t leave me.”Anna fell silent. She had never expected to hear those words from Liam.“I know I’ve been selfish,” he continued in a low voice. “I always thought I could do whatever I wanted without thinking about how it made you feel. I was so afraid of losing you that, without realizing it, I ended up

Anna strode into the VIP room with a sharp exhale, her gaze immediately locking onto Rendy sitting on the hospital bed. He looked perfectly fine. The only injury was a shallow cut across his palm, where a thin trickle of blood still seeped through. As a doctor, she only needed one glance to know it hadn't been caused by an accident. The wound was too neat, too superficial—as though he'd inflicted it on himself just to find an excuse to come here."Bandage his hand," Anna instructed Erika and Nina without taking a single step toward him."Yes, Doctor," they answered in unison."I want you to treat me, Anna," Rendy said, brushing Erika's hand away before she could clean the wound.Anna's eyes turned ice-cold."Don't make me despise you even more."Rendy let out a quiet chuckle, completely unfazed."I've told you from the very beginning—we're getting back together. Lusi and I were nothing but an act. Why can't you understand that, Anna?"Erika and Nina exchanged stunned glances. Neither

“Anna.”The sound of her name brought Anna’s steps to a halt.
