“Miss Anna, it’s time for dinner,” Ferdi said as he knocked politely on her door.

“Yes, just a moment,” Anna replied. She hurried to smooth her hair before opening the door.

“Sir and Madam are already waiting in the dining room,” Ferdi continued. “Please, allow me to escort you.”

Anna nodded and followed him down the long corridor of the large mansion. The comforting aroma of warm soup drifted toward her as they neared the dining hall.

“Anna, come sit here,” Matilda called with a warm smile the moment Anna appeared at the doorway.

“Sorry for keeping you waiting, Mom,” Anna said softly.

“It’s alright. Besides, Liam still hasn’t come home,” Matilda replied casually—making Anna narrow her eyes in confusion.

“Liam?”

“Liam is our only son, Anna,” Jonathan explained gently.

Anna nodded and tried to return the smile, though something uneasy tugged inside her chest.

Probably just a coincidence—the name, she told herself.

She had just pulled her chair when a deep voice echoed from behind her.

“Mom, why did you tell me to come home?”

Anna turned instinctively—and her knees nearly buckled. It felt as if the floor dropped beneath her feet.

“Anna? What’s wrong?” Matilda asked in alarm, catching Anna’s arm. “Are you feeling sick?”

“N-No… I’m fine, Mom,” Anna answered nervously, her voice trembling.

God… this is the Alonzo family?

She bit her lip hard, trying to steady her breathing.

“Liam, this is Anna,” Matilda said brightly, oblivious to the tension in the air. “Starting today, she’ll be living with us.”

“You decided to adopt someone just like that?” Liam asked sharply, his gaze sweeping over Anna from head to toe, making her freeze in place.

“You’re rarely home. The house feels lonely. Isn’t that right, Dad?” Matilda looked to her husband for backup.

Jonathan nodded firmly. “Exactly. And you don’t get to oppose our decision.”

Liam let out a quiet scoff. “Do whatever you want. But do you even know where she came from? What if she’s some crazy drunk?”

Anna’s face drained of color. Her hands trembled beneath the table.

“Liam! Don’t say such things!” Matilda snapped.

“That’s enough,” Jonathan cut in firmly, stopping the argument before it could escalate. “Let’s just eat.”

Anna sat down across from Liam, but she didn’t dare lift her gaze. His cold aura seeped across the table, tightening her chest. Even the soft clink of cutlery sounded uncomfortably loud.

After dinner, Anna went straight back to her room, desperate to keep her distance from Liam. But when she reached the third floor, she abruptly stopped.

Liam was there—talking to Ferdi in a low, firm tone.

When he sensed her presence, he turned.

For a few tense seconds, their eyes locked.

Cold. Sharp. Unyielding.

Then, without a word, Liam looked away and entered the room directly beside hers.

“Miss Anna? Why are you spacing out?” Ferdi asked, breaking the silence.

“That… that’s Mr. Liam’s room?” Anna’s voice was barely audible.

“Yes, Miss,” Ferdi replied politely. “And the room to the right of yours is his private office. I suggest you keep your distance from that area.”

The warning made Anna swallow hard, her heartbeat stumbling.

She nodded weakly, and Ferdi walked away, leaving her alone in the corridor.

Anna quickly slipped into her room and shut the door tightly, as though afraid even her breath might be heard.

“Out of all the rooms in this huge house, why did they put me next to his?” she muttered in frustration, hugging her arms.

The one man she wanted to avoid more than anything…

was now only a single wall away.

“Dr. Anna!” Nina called out, hurrying after her just as Anna was about to step into her office. The sound of her rushed footsteps echoed through the hospital corridor, which had begun to quiet as evening settled in. Behind her, Erika followed at a calmer pace, though still heading in the same direction.Anna paused and turned, one brow lifting slightly. “What is it?” she asked.Nina stopped in front of her, catching her breath before speaking. There was a hopeful look on her face. “Do you have plans tonight, Doctor? Erika and I are going out for dinner. Do you want to join us?”Anna offered a small smile, though a flicker of reluctance crossed her eyes. “I don’t think I can tonight. I’m sorry.”Nina’s expression dimmed for a moment, but Erika gently nudged her. “It’s okay, Doctor. “Morning,” Liam said as Anna slowly opened her eyes. “Morning,” Anna replied, her voice still slightly hoarse. She blinked a few times, trying to shake off the last traces of sleep. “Have you been up long?” “About five minutes,” Liam answered casually. Then, almost as an afterthought, he added, “Sorry about last night—the bouquet was red roses, not white.” Anna smiled softly. “It’s okay. I like them.” And she realized, in that quiet moment, that it wasn’t the color of the flowers she cared about… but who had given them to her. Liam leaned down and pressed a brief kiss to her lips—warm, gentle—before pulling away. “I’m going to shower,” he said, getting out of bed. Anna simply nodded, her gaze following his back until he disappeared behind the bathroom door. “I need to eat a lot today… I’ve got three surgeries scheduled,” Anna murmured as

When Anna opened the door to her room, a warm smile instantly spread across her face. Resting neatly on the bed was a bouquet of red roses, their petals fresh and fragrant as if they had just been picked. Her steps felt lighter as she approached, her fingers gently reaching out to lift the bouquet with care.Tucked between the stems was a small card. Anna opened it slowly. One simple word was written there—“Sorry.”And yet, somehow, that single word made her smile even wider, filling her chest with a warmth she couldn’t quite explain.Without thinking, Anna picked up her phone, snapped a photo of the bouquet, and sent it to Liam.“I’m home.”The message went through, her smile still lingering as she let out a soft chuckle.“He’s kind of cute,” she murmured under her breath. It didn’t stop there. Anna uploaded the photo to her social media as well, adding nothing but a simple red heart emoji as the caption—yet it said more than words ever could about how she felt in that moment. Not lo

Anna walked slowly toward her office after finishing with her last patient. Fatigue was beginning to settle into her body, urging her to steal a few moments of rest before continuing her rounds. The hospital corridor, once bustling, had grown quieter—only the soft echo of her footsteps remained.Just as her hand touched the doorknob and she pushed it open, a hand suddenly grabbed her and pulled her inside. The door slammed shut, followed by the sharp click of the lock.Anna gasped, her breath catching in her throat. She nearly cried out—until her eyes landed on the man in front of her.“Liam!” she exclaimed, instinctively hitting his chest. She was now pinned between the wall and his arms, trapped in his hold. “What are you doing here?” she asked, her voice still laced with shock.“Your ex can come see you, but your husband can’t?” Liam replied coldly. His sharp gaze made his displeasure unmistakable.“He came to accompany Lusi,” Anna explained quickly, trying to defuse the tension.B

The hand gripping his phone trembled slightly. “Why have you been so annoying lately?”The words slipped out before he could stop them, and the air between them instantly turned cold.“What do you mean by that?” Lusi replied, her voice soft but quivering now. Her eyes glistened, her lips trembling as she fought back tears.“I’ve been quiet this whole time, and you keep accusing me of things that aren’t true. But the moment I say something, suddenly you’re the one who’s hurt,” Rendy said, his voice low but firm.Lusi broke into tears.
