Mag-log inWake me up from this bad dream. I tell myself as I am greeted with the most horrifying sight ever.
The music coming from his room was too loud, so I couldn’t hear a sound. I had walked into a mess of a sitting room in Kade’s apartment. There were beer bottles everywhere, and clothing sprawled on different parts of the couch and floor. I practically had to walk around the mess to the kitchen. There was no surprise. I thought to myself angrily. The only place I had yet to go was his bedroom, and I was already about to throw my tantrum when the words got stuck in my throat. It was as though someone had poured me a bucket of cold water. I suddenly developed a cold as color drained out of my face. My breathing started moving rapidly and slowly, and tears began to fall. If this were a dream, then I must admit, it was a very bad one. My eyes were met with a betrayal so deep, it hurt. Would it have hurt less if they had just lain side by side? I could recognize my best friend anywhere. Her black curls bounced on her back as she twisted her butt on his cock, and as if right on cue, he moaned. “Tell me you love me, Kade,” She whispered breathlessly “I love you, babe.” He responded so fast as he gripped her waist while she increased her tempo. I cannot explain if I was moving differently due to the shock, because instead of taking a bow or throwing a tantrum, I walked toward the action and took a closer look at them to be sure my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me. “Ka-Kade,” I whispered. Oh, the look on his face was priceless. Maybe it would be funny later when I think about this, but right now, I was in a movie I had no script for, and I was the damsel in distress because my heart suddenly started palpitating, and I thought I would pass out soon enough. Cassie quickly rolled off, clearly dissatisfied as she made a fake attempt to cover up. Kade, on the other hand, was fumbling with his boxers. Unable to take it anymore, I walked out while he followed up behind, stuttering, or so I thought, because I couldn’t hear a single thing he said. I was already flying off the front porch when I felt his hand on my arm. The speed at which I had turned to give him a slap that was worthy of his betrayal was swift, but it didn’t do anything to ease my broken heart. “Lyra, Lyra. I’m sorry. It’s not exactly what you think. I was drunk last night.” “Till about 11 am?” I retorted. Then I whip my head over to Cassie, who had joined us in what was Kade’s T-shirt, like a trophy telling me she won a game where we were both players. “If it’s not the back-stabbing bitch herself.” Kade tried to interrupt me, but I held him off with my left hand raised, telling him to cut it. I looked at my current ex-best friend and asked. “What was the reason?” She looked down briefly, but it was either that she was a poor actress or she just wanted to mock me and rile me up at the same time. “What was the reason?” I yelled “Oh, please,” she responded and walked over to Kade. Her useless attempt at faking remorse fell off easily. “He was never yours. Kade and I have always been together, but you just wouldn’t get the hint, would you?” “What?” “You lying piece of shit. You were supposed to be my best friend. How could you? How could both of you?” The tightly held tears spilled. “You never said you liked him. You knew of my feelings for him, and you’ve been glued to me while Kade and I made plans for our future. You could have had anybody!” I yelled, “Anyone!!! But you chose him?” “Yeah, well. It’s not like I planned to hurt you intentionally. Kade and I just clicked.” “You bitch.” I yelled as I lunged at her, grabbing her hair with ease. One thing I gained from my lack of wolf was my height and speed. She tried to grab me somewhat, but with my right hand firmly rooted in her hair, I yanked her head backwards, hurling profanities. We had quite a struggle while Kade tried to separate the chaos, but the more he tried, the more it fueled my anger, and I relentlessly held on to Cassie’s hair as though it was life. She was screaming, but I didn’t care. It was either her or me, and it would be a shame to find myself on the losing end, having been humiliated and hurt. Amid the drama, we had moved the action away from the porch steps to the driveway. Kade had managed to carry me from behind while I thrashed and struggled to get at her as she moved away, holding on to her hair. Quite a chunk had pulled out. She was bleeding and crying. When I realized I couldn’t get her anymore, I focused on hurling more profanities at Kade, biting his arms. He loosened his grip, and I swung around to face him, scratching his face, his eyes, his hands; my hands were doing a whole number on their own. He probably allowed it. He manages to grab me again, and this time he carries me into his house and pleads with me to calm down while he shuts the door and argues with Cassie. I pace close to the windows overlooking the porch while I watch the scene unfold in front of me. Kade is gesticulating with his hands, running his hands through his hair, and taking in sharp breaths as though frustrated. Cassie, on the other hand, is still wailing; her bleeding seemed to have stopped, one of the perks of having been shifted. I am angry again. My phone rings and pauses my pacing, but I ignore it. What the hell are they talking about? I don’t have time for this – for waiting. All I want to do is cause some damage to ease my anger. I look around the room, pick a bottle, and wing it at the flat-screen TV. It felt good, I must admit. I begin to smash the bottles lurking in various parts of the apartment. My phone rings again, irritation setting in. I see an SOS ping just as the ringtone is about to end. It’s my Mum “Run!” she screams.THIRD PERSON POV“Our consignments have been delivered, Alpha. Alpha Greg has requested double the quantity of the present shipment in the next delivery.” Lief spoke.“Hmmm,” Ryker hummed as he swiped the tab in front of him, taking note of the numbers in the ledger for any possible anomalies.“Also, there is one more thing that requires your attention. Some of the slaves that weren’t bought from the auction have not been assigned. Waiting for your orders on what to do with them.”“I see’ he looks up at Lief and frowns. ‘Appoint some to the plantation, give some to the head maid for other pack duties.” He replies, walking towards the window from his study overlooking the fields.“Yes, Alpha”. Lief stands up to take his leave, but Ryker stops him briefly.“And her?”“Who, my love?” Vera walks in. She nods at Lief, then looks at Ryker.Lief takes it as his cue to leave. Everyone knew Vera was Ryker’s woman, and she had a free pass on anything Ryker and the pack did.He sometimes wondere
THIRD PERSON POVLyra gasped in horror.“I will-I will,” The men called out.Ryker exposes a wicked grin. He looks at Lyra with contempt, then laughs.“Well, now, we can’t lose the princess too early.” He responds mockingly, causing the women, who were with the men, to smile slyly. “Five of my finest warriors will enjoy a royal pussy tonight.” Then he looks to his beta, Lief, and nods.Lief stands up and points randomly to five different men in the crowd. The cheers are louder now. The lucky men are howling. They waste no time. One of the men immediately climbs onto the stage and grabs her by the waist. She screams in terror, but her fears only make them more eager. He wastes no time smacking her on her ass cheeks, making her cry loudly while jumping down the stage with his prize. The cheers from the warriors get louder. The sounds are terrifyingly loud, reverberating all over the walls and ground, making the air so thick with energy. “Please – Please – no,” she cries loudly, but h
LYRA'S POVOh! Moon goddess! It hurts. Lyra whimpers as she adjusts her eyes to the dimly lit shack she finds herself in. She tried to move, but the restraints on her were firmly knotted, with her hands firmly locked behind her and her head unceremoniously dumped on a sack that felt like it contained potatoes. Her ribs were on fire as though someone had knocked the wind out of her, and her feet burned even though they were on the cold ground. She tried to push her upper body up but winced; the movement had caused a jolt of pain along her ribs.Where was she?Her mind raced. She remembered she was running from the beasts. He was after her.Her mother. She had warned her to run.She needed no soothsayer to let her know there had been an attack; she had been taken. Heaven knows what could have happened to her parents or what time it was.She had been knocked unconscious. How long had she been blacked out?She looked back at her few moments with her parents that morning. If only She we
RYKER’S POV“The day of reckoning is here,” I say proudly, revealing a proud grin. Vengeance. For my mother, whom they butchered. For my father, whose heart was ripped out and hung on a pyre, and my people, whom they brutally murdered.I have dreamt my revenge. No – I have lived my Revenge, breathing in dozes every day as I bid my time for the day I claim the price for the betrayal of the sect. The purpose of my existence and the reason for my drive. The moon goddess be worshiped. Today, the blood moon pack would be obliterated, their daughters would be whored, their sons castrated, their cubs sold as slaves, their Alpha destroyed, and it won’t be so easy.He would watch the carnage that I, Ryker, Alpha King of Shadow Claw Pack, would raise on his lands. The stench of burn and ash would rise far above the skies, spelling my name, leaving its mark, claiming my deeds, and marking my name so that I was here.We had arrived at Blood Moon Pack and had specially picked today to invade. LYRA'S POV“Run!!” she screams again.“Mum, what is – “ My phone slips out of my hands as I look out the window while trying to respond to my mum and make sense of what my mum meant.Out the window were the most ferocious-looking giant werewolves I had ever seen. I wouldn’t have noticed if Cassie hadn’t suddenly fallen, giving me a clear view of the beast. Then I saw the others, coming from different directions. Aside from my dad, I had barely seen werewolves this huge. It was obvious they were not from our pack. Kade was quivering and had landed on his back from a surprise attack. He had no time to shift.I watched as the beast mauled him mercilessly. I could see Kade thrashing about, helplessly pinned to a spot and rendered motionless by probably a 180-pound wolf. Then he stopped moving. Out of fear, I screamed, and the beast locked eyes with me.Oh! Moon goddess, save me!I dash for the kitchen. There was a back door, and I wasted no time, winging the door open and running into t
