~ Aria's POV ~

My heart hammered in my chest as the eyes of the monsters didn't look away from me. I was scared—so scared—because I was indeed responsible for what had happened to those vampires. But I didn't even understand how I was able to do that, and it wouldn't have happened if Seraphina and her crew hadn't kidnapped me and hurt me.

"What nonsense are you spewing, Miss Hellcat?" Lucian snapped, fury in his voice. "Why would you accuse her of the disappearance of those worthless vampires?!"

Thorne’s eyes lingered on me, narrowing with curiosity and confusion. He was trying to understand why I was being blamed too.

"I was talking to Aria, not you, Lucian," she said firmly, before her eyes returned to mine. I couldn't even look at her, I was trembling.

"Aria. What did you do to the missing vampires?" she asked, but no word came out of my mouth. My hesitation began making the monsters suspect me.
