Mag-log inEthan’s POV
I barely made it out of Noah’s suite before my wolf clawed at the inside of my skin, demanding I turn around. Demanding I go back in there, lock the door, and finish what my eyes had already started.
The image burned behind my lids even now. Noah standing there, fresh from the shower, water droplets trailing down from his navel, and disappearing beneath the towel that did nothing to hide the soft, heavy outline of his cock.
It had shifted slightly when he moved, and the sight had punched the air straight out of my lungs.
I forced myself down the hallway, clenching my jaw so hard my teeth hurt.
I shoved through the double doors of my office and slammed them behind me, the sound echoing off the high ceilings. My hands shook as I braced them on the desk.
"Breathe. Just breathe." My subconscious said.
A sharp knock interrupted before I could pull myself together.
“Enter,” I growled.
Marcus, my Beta, stepped inside. Tall, steady, annoyingly calm as always. His nostrils flared once, he could scent the agitation rolling off me in waves, but he was smart enough not to comment.
“Alpha. The emissary from the Blackwood pack is here. Elder Mara and two of her enforcers. They’re insisting on speaking with you immediately. Something about border tensions and a rogue sighting near the northern ridge.”
I dragged a hand down my face. “Now?”
“They’ve been waiting twenty minutes already. Mara’s patience is… limited.”
Of course it was. I straightened, forced my expression into the cold mask every pack leader learned to wear.
“Take me to them.”
With that, we turned swiftly and strode out of my chamber. As we arrived, I saw Elder Mara standing at the head of the long table, her silver hair pulled into a severe braid. Her two enforcers were beside her, big, silent, radiating barely-leashed violence.
“Alpha Ethan,” she began slowly. “Thank you for seeing us on short notice.”
I inclined my head and took my seat at the opposite end. “Elder Mara. What brings the Blackwoods to my territory unannounced?”
She didn’t waste time on pleasantries. “Rogues. Three confirmed kills on our western flank in the last week. Claw marks match no known pack signature, but the scent trail leads straight toward your northern border. We need your assurance this isn’t your problem bleeding into ours.”
I leaned back, letting my fingers drum once on the armrest. “If it were my wolves, you’d already have their heads on pikes. You know that.”
“Do I?” Her gaze narrowed.
“Your pack has been… unstable since your mate’s death. Whispers say your wolf is fraying. Some even claim you’ve taken a new one. A Carter, no less. The brother.”
My jaw tightened. Of course the rumors had already spread. Nothing stayed secret long among Alphas.
“Noah is here to stabilize me,” I said flatly. “That’s all you need to know.”
Mara’s lips curved, not quite a smile. “Stabilize. Interesting choice of words. And yet here you sit, scent spiked with arousal and distraction. Hardly the picture of calm.”
One of her enforcers shifted, a low rumble in his chest. Marcus stiffened beside me, ready to move if this turned ugly.
I met Mara’s stare without blinking. “My personal state is not your concern. The rogues are. If their trail crosses my border, my wolves will hunt them down. You’ll have proof within forty-eight hours.”
She studied me for a long moment, then inclined her head. “We’ll hold you to that, Ethan. But know this—if your instability costs us lives, the council will not hesitate to intervene. A fractured Alpha is a danger to us all.”
"Noted.” I blurted, glaring hard at her.
They left shortly after, leaving me alone with Marcus, and a few guards in the doorway.
“You okay?” Marcus asked, as soon as their footsteps disappeared.
“No, I need air.” I stood up and turned to the exit immediately.
My chambers were at the far end of the east wing, far enough from Noah’s suite that I wouldn’t be tempted. Except I was already tempted. Had been since the second I walked into his room and saw him half-naked and vulnerable.
I stripped off my shirt, tossed it aside, and paced to the window. The forest stretched dark and endless below. My wolf pressed against my ribs, restless, hungry. Not for blood, but for him.
I could still see the way Noah’s fingers had fumbled to cover himself. He's shy, embarrassed, and yet there’d been a flicker of something else in his eyes. Curiosity? Fear? A spark of answering heat?
My cock twitched at the memory. I cursed under my breath and braced both hands on the windowsill, keeping my head low.
This wasn’t part of the deal. I’d promised him distance. Promised myself control. But every time I closed my eyes, I saw that towel slipping lower, saw the way his stomach had tensed, the way his breath had ceased.
I wanted to taste him. I wanted to take that towel off and watch his face flush darker as I wrapped my hand around him, felt him harden fully in my grip.
I wanted to hear the small, broken sound he’d make when I stroked him slow at first, then faster, until he was trembling and begging and spilling over my fingers.
The fantasy hit so hard I nearly groaned aloud.
I wasn’t supposed to want him. Not like this. But it's hard to push the thought away.
Tommy had been my true mate. Noah was supposed to be a bandage, nothing more. A familiar face to soothe the madness. Not this.
I turned from the window, dragged a hand through my hair, and forced myself to sit on the edge of the bed. My body was too tight, and hot. I could scent my own arousal now, thick and unmistakable. If Noah walked past my door right now, he’d know exactly what I was thinking about.
I couldn’t let that happen.
Three years, I reminded myself. Three years of pretending. Then he walks away, whole and untouched, and I go back to being the powerful Alpha everyone expects.
But the lie tasted bitter. Because the truth was simpler, and far more dangerous. I didn’t want him untouched.
I wanted him under me. Around me. I wanted to bury my face in his throat and breathe him in until the hollow place inside me stopped screaming. I wanted to fuck him until neither of us could remember why we’d started this charade in the first place.
And that terrified me more than any rogue, any elder, any threat to my pack.
Noah’s POVIt had been an hour since Elara had walked into the palace and placed out the announcement of the Alpha’s heir. The nurse had also brought proof to back her up, and now the news had spread like wildfire. Ethan had tried to confiscate the evidence and keep the word hidden, but Elara seemed to have seen that face and had reported it to the board herself before announcing it to him. She was only here to leak the news to him before they both left for the boardroom where all the decisions would be made by the elders. Ethan didn’t have a choice when the Elders got there. No one ever got a choice when it came to their supreme judgment. The moon goddess had blessed the elders with that power, and they had kept their honor and respect and loyalty to the pack for years. What would be their decision when she clutches her stomach and squints her eyes in a way that her eyelashes move upwards and tell her eyes that they need water to brush off dirt? What would happen to me when she
Marcus POV The sun lit up the universe with a soft glow and had the wind whistle a gentle harmony like never before. I never thought there would be a day I would get to watch the sunset without having to worry about my plans foiling. After my last meeting with Noah, it was evident that I could beat that contracted Omega in this little game of ours. He doesn’t even understand simple manipulation tactics. He Is nothing but a piece with numerous cracks, waiting for the slightest pressure to shatter it or a kind heart toremodeld it. I will be under a little pressure and watch his entire world crumble like how his brother’s life fell into the shadows. “What a beautiful sunset.” I grabbed the glass of orange juice on the table next to me. I readjusted myself in my bent-back chair, placing my leg on the little table I had just grabbed. I sipped the iced orange juice that calmed my nerves. Today was the beginning of a new era, one where I get to set the future with my own hands. A turnin
NOAH’S POVThis was the first time I was seeing Ethan in such a chaotic state; his fangs had slowly grown out of his chaotic state, and there he was, standing before the entire staff with blood dripping from his fingers onto his off-white joggers.Elara stayed on the floor, hands trembling, with beads of sweat lingering on her forehead. She seemed hurt, trying her best not to whimper with her blue eyes radiating the best puppy eyes I have ever seen. She had humiliated me when I tried to prepare my own breakfast and even brought the commotion to the living room. Despite the thundering slap I received, I still didn’t think she deserved that. If she is really carrying Ethan’s baby, then there should be some sort of evidence rather than a belly that is a bit swollen and a hoot of mood swings.Maybe he already knows about the child and that was why he acted like that the previous night. “You don’t have to get worked up by Alpha Ethan; there is no evidence that proves that the child is y
Ethan’s POV My eyes narrowed as I caught sight of Noah standing in the middle with a fair and curvy lady whose hands were placed on her belly. Her silver hair matched her blue eyes, making her dimples visible under the illumination. Is this who I think it is?I moved closer, standing behind the gardener who was immersed in the commotion. The lady’s face came into view, and it was just like I suspected. That b*tch is back. My hands rolled into fists, my wolf scratching in anger within as we stared at the devil before us. Why was she back? What does she want with me?“How dare you, filthy peasant, talk to the future Luna like that!” She planted a slap on Noah’s cheeks. My wolf howled as the anger surged within me. I could feel my insides burning, the pain of holding back the urge to hit someone so bad. The chief maid kept shaking as he kept his eyes fixated on me. He kept stuttering, his message leaving as just a whisper. He could have calculated the risk of having a conversation
Ethan’s POV Noah walked into the room, slowly closing the door behind him like he was running from someone. He slid down the door, an old book falling from under his blue top. Even though I told him that he should make himself available, he still decides to sneak in with books that he can take and read with no issues. “Noah.” I reduced the dominance in my voice. He let out a sigh, beads of sweat starting to appear on his forehead. “Noah… come sit next to me.”He looked stunned, hands curled up on the floor as he sat up, watching me tap the bed. I couldn’t undo what I did, and I don’t know if it would be easy to convince him. “Are you not pissed at me?” His voice came out thin. If I hadn’t heard him speak before, I would have thought he was a little princess. Did he really think he did something wrong? I found myself laughing at the realization the next minute. It was only appropriate he thought about it since I didn’t compliment how good his tender hands felt on my cock. The
Noah’s POVI lay on my bed, staring at the ceiling like it held the answers to my questions. The chief butler wasn’t helping matters either with the look on his face. The only one who came to mind was Sarah, and I doubt she’d taken a night shift today. Didn’t want to disturb her since she’d be stressed from her job and taking care of our father. I had to figure this out on my own. It was time to take the ship by the sails, or however those poets say it.With no hesitation I decided to make my way to the library. That happens to be the only place in this entire mansion that I believe I fit in. The door creaked open as I walked in. The room was dimly lit since no one was expected to be in here by this time except Ethan, who is out. Maybe there’s something here that can perhaps help me survive. If my handjob sucked, then I had to make it better, learn the best way to treat a cock, and whip him up with something he’ll never forget. “Noah”—his moans played in my head as I searched the
Noah’s POVThe next day, I spent most of the day dreading the evening. Martin brought breakfast to my room, which I barely touched. My stomach was tied in knots thinking about Ethan and meeting the pack. These were people who had known Tommy, who had loved him, who would look at me and see a poor
Noah’s POV My mind spun when Ethan finished speaking. Why had he asked that? Was it just curiosity? Or was it something else? My stomach twisted as Sarah’s voice echoed in my head . "If Ethan has intimacy with you three times, you’ll end up dead after a couple of months, just like the rest." I
Ethan’s POVNoah’s fingers trailed slowly down his body to his cock as he held the toy, his body arching off the bed. His right hand covered his mouth as his body jolted and trembled.“…Ethan…”“Alpha Ethan!”I snapped out of my daze and quickly turned off my phone. My head turned toward the voice,
I woke up to sunlight streaming through the windows and the immediate memory of last night crashing over me. I had told an entire pack gathering that I was a paid replacement, that nothing about this arrangement was real, that I was basically a ghost someone hired.I groaned and pulled a pillow ov
