Chapter 6

Author: Southern Eucalyptus
Third-Person POV

Oliver felt as if he had been struck by Elias' words. It felt as if a blunt knife was repeatedly sawing away at his heart.

He swiftly snapped back to his senses, clenching his fist as he said, "Let's split up and search for her around the place she disappeared in the surveillance footage. We can ask if anyone saw her too along the way. We won't rest until we track her down."

They split up immediately, asking for clues from the stores and street-side stalls along that road.

Holly's POVA week passed in the blink of an eye.The Red Ribbon Award released a statement officially revoking Lydia's award, presenting evidence that she had plagiarized. The news spread like wildfire online. Online users uncovered her previous plagiarism in another competition based on the clues they had and labeled her a chronic cheater. The international competition organizing committee also placed her on the global industry's lifelong blacklist. She no longer had the right to participate in any international design competitions. When I saw the news, my heart stayed calm as I swiped my finger across the screen. The justice that was served too late could no longer soothe the wounds on my body that had scarred over. After work that evening, I strolled down the street toward Natasha's apartment. I spotted two familiar figures standing under the maple tree at the corner of the street, the night breeze billowing around them.It was Oliver and Elias.Although only a few months h

Holly's POV"Wake up, Holly," said a gentle voice in my ear.I peeled open my heavy eyelids as my vision slowly focused. The psychologist snapped her book shut with a calm expression. "Today's psychotherapy session has come to an end."I slowly sat up, still feeling a little weak from the earlier hypnosis. I quietly thanked the psychologist, then turned and left the consultation room. There was a glass elevator outside that allowed people to admire the surrounding scenery. It started moving when I stepped inside, slowly descending from the 17th floor.A weightless sensation hit me, and a familiar dizziness began to slowly press against my temples. I knew my fear of heights, carved into my very being, was acting up. However, I didn't tremble. Sweat didn't bead on my back or drench my shirt. The elevator doors slid open with a ding. I stepped out with a calm expression, one step at a time.A white-haired old lady was leaning against the wall downstairs, waiting for me. She held

Her appearance should have been especially eye-catching, but everyone they asked said they hadn't seen her, even after they searched the entire street. The sky slowly darkened. They still didn't get a single clue, even after the street was bathed in the light of dusk. They rushed to the police station to report the incident. The police officer explained the proper procedure to them after listening to their explanation. "You can only file an offi

  • Tower of Trauma: I Was Their Punchline   Chapter 4

Holly's POVI lay sprawled on the balcony as tears spilled from the corners of my eyes. The cold breeze that billowed past made my heart feel extremely cold. I didn't know how much time had passed. I couldn't feel my fingertips anymore. The only sensation that was left was the stinging pain that spread through my limbs. My head spun from excessive blood loss. Just then, I smelled something burning. My chest tightened as I struggled to look toward the smell. A bright flame burned in the kitchen, and it was visibly growing.I frantically thrashed around on the floor. The rough rope rubbed my hands raw as I struggled against it. I accidentally dislocated my right hand when I exerted too much force, but it gave me a chance to untie the ropes and free myself from my bindings.I ripped off the tape and screamed for help. But no one answered my cries for help. The balcony door was bolted shut. The fire had already spread to the living room. In my panic, I grabbed my phone and called M

Holly's POVMom didn't say a single word, but I found my answer on the balcony. My personal belongings had been haphazardly dumped in the corner of the balcony. My cashmere coat, worth hundreds of dollars, had been carelessly left on the floor and stepped on, leaving countless footprints all over it. The model that I spent three months assembling was in pieces.I felt like I was suffocating when I saw the torn-up design drafts in the trash. My fingers trembled violently as I fished out the shreds of paper one at a time. Every sheet was stained with dirt and ruined."I was going to use these to join a competition," I said. "Who gave you permission to throw them away?"Lydia's eyes reddened. "I'm sorry, Holly. I thought they were scrapped drafts that you didn't want anymore," she mumbled softly.I barked out an indignant laugh. "You studied design too. Don't tell me that you can't tell what a scrapped draft looks like?""I'm sorry. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have moved in and
