Christian's POV

I meant every word.

Katrina was still staring at the security footage, her face pale as she tried to process what we'd discovered.

I wanted to pull her into my arms and tell her everything would be fine, but I wasn't going to insult her with promises I couldn't guarantee.

Someone interfered with the security around her bedroom.

And I intended to find out who.

“Can you check the other cameras?” she asked quietly.

“I can. But first, I need to get my head of security involved.”

Sarah's POVI knew something was wrong the moment I heard Christian started investigating the security breach. At first, I thought it was nothing serious. After all, Christian owned several properties and had security teams responsible for monitoring them. It wasn't unusual for him to investigate a problem. But this time, it was different. He wasn't just checking the cameras. He was looking into the unfamiliar device, reviewing access records, and asking questions about people who had access to the property. And that was a problem.A very big one.I sat on the edge of my bed, staring at my phone while the information replayed in my head. I never expected things to go this far.The man was supposed to make Katrina uncomfortable, perhaps scare her enough to create problems between her and Christian. I never asked him to start interfering with the security system. What exactly was he doing?I immediately opened our conversation and typed.Me: We need to talk. Today. His reply came sever

Christian's POVI wasn't going to sit around waiting for whoever was behind the security breach to make another move.By the time Daniel returned to my office the following morning, I'd already decided on our next step.“Have you found anything useful?” I asked.“Not enough to identify the device's owner, sir. But we've narrowed down the access points.” he said, his tone filled with certainty as he held the tablet in his arm.I leaned back in my chair, fingers drumming briefly on the table before finally making a comment. “Let’s give them what they want then.”Daniel's brows shot up with confusion as he awaited instructions.“I want a restricted security update circulated to a selected group of people with access to the property. It should indicate that Katrina will be staying in another section of the estate for the next few days.”“Will she actually be moving?” he asked, I shook my head, leaning in from across the desk. “No. Her arrangements remain exactly as they are. Only the inf

But first, I need to get my head of security involved.”She nodded, still looking at the screen.“Will you be alright?” I asked, searching for a reason to stay back on the call. “I need to review the entire system, including the access records. Until we know what's happening, don't leave your bedroom unsecured.”Her expression tightened as she muttered under her breath, “You're making this sound worse than it already is.”“I'm not trying to frighten you, Kitten. But someone intentionally created a blind spot near your room. I won't pretend that's norma

Katrina's POV I stared at the building with wide eyes, feeling my eyes grow red as Christian held me to the side.“Christian? Why are we in a hotel?” I asked, my eyes darting around frantically, scared that we'll be spotted out by some crazed fan or reporter. I mean, we barely made it out alive last week.Instead of panicking, Christian gave me a confident smile and nodded to the security men that surrounded the building within seconds.“This is mine, Kitten.” He revealed, taking off his shades to place on the bridge of my nose. “Most buildings are anyway, which is why we barely run into troubles. Haven't you ever wondered how we walk so freely? The moment I spot anything unusual, I pay them to keep away.”“I have so many questions, Christian.” I stared at him, too stunned to speak, but I eventually found my voice in the end. “I've never seen you work either. How does that even work?”Christian wore a mischievous grin, nodded to the receptionist who stood up instantly and eyed me wit

Katrina’s POV“Were you out of your mind, Katrina?”Adrian's voice rang through the living room as he pressed an ice pack against his cheek.I stood a few feet away, struggling not to smile. “Good morning to you, too, darling.”His eyes narrowed. “Don't you dare call me that!”“Okay, Adrian.” I shrugged. “Would you prefer I call you handsome? Because, honestly, with that ice pack on your face, I'm not sure it would sound convincing.”Adrian's mother stared at me like I'd just slapped her instead of her son.Maybe I should have. The thought crossed my mind as I watched him press the bag of frozen peas against his cheek harder, jaw tight, eyes burning holes through me from across the breakfast table. His mother shot me a murderous glare. “Have you completely lost your manners? You slapped your husband!”I glanced at Adrian, then back at her.“I'm sorry. Should I have waited for him to announce himself before startling me half to death in the middle of the night?”“You could have simply

Katrina’s POV“Are you going to write something, or are we going to spend the entire day staring at each other?” I muttered, staring at the cursor blinking nonstop in my face.I leaned back in my chair with an exhale and ran a hand through my face.It had been almost an hour since I opened my laptop, and all I had managed to type was a temporary title, three character names, and a sentence I had already deleted twice.Maybe I was out of practice…or maybe I was afraid.I hated admitting the latter, but it was the truth.Writing used to come naturally to me. I could sit in front of my laptop for hours, completely lost in another world, and emerge with thousands of words. Back then, I didn't worry about whether every sentence was perfect or whether someone would think my ideas were embarrassing. Then Adrian happened.I shook my head, refusing to let him ruin this moment, too. I opened the folder containing the three manuscripts I'd recovered and clicked on the first one.The title, The
