Diane's POV

Whoever wants to make my life a living hell more than it already is, I have no idea. I can't stop thinking about who could be behind the anonymous messages, but I have no clue yet.

I roll from one end of the bed to the other. I find it hard to fall asleep, and it could be because I know someone has been monitoring me closely, and the person sure doesn't have good plans for me.

"I have to make sure I lock the door." I mutter and get off the bed.

Some minutes ago, I checked the door and found it properly locked, and I'm on my way to check it again. It's safe to say I'm scared of what might be coming.

This might be a good time to have my friend come stay with me for a few days. Her company might make me feel safe. I get to the door and check again. It's properly locked.

To get to work on time tomorrow, I must sleep early, but what do I do when sleep isn't forthcoming? Drinking to a stupor is definitely not an option. I don't want a hangover tomorrow.

I look all around while returning to my room. It feels like someone is in the house with me, and I'm waiting for the person to show up in front of me. Anxiety is slowly creeping in.

"Is someone trying to blackmail me?" I ask myself after I step back into my room.

"If the culprit aims to get money from me, then he or she is in for a long wait." I reply to myself.

I have no money to give, and I wish the culprit knew. My phone's screen comes on, which means someone has just sent me a message. It could even be the blackmailer again.

I pick up my phone and realize I'm wrong. Conrad has just sent me a message. Actually, he's been sending me messages, but I didn't get a notification sound because my phone has been on silent.

A loud noise catches my ears and makes me drop my phone on the bed. Someone has just knocked on the door of my house. My heart starts to pound, and any moment now, it will rip out of my chest.

I run to my window and take a peep, though I don't know exactly what I'm looking for. I see a car parked outside, and it's a familiar one. I've seen it somewhere before, I'm sure.

The street light lets me see the car clearly, but I can't see its plate number because I only see its side view. Its windows are tinted, so I can't tell if anybody is in it.

"Diane!" I hear a voice scream my name. The voice sounds familiar too.

It takes me less than ten seconds to figure out who it belongs to. I storm out of my room and run straight to the door, not minding that I have only a bra and panties on.

"You could have worn something decent before coming to answer the door." Conrad says after I open it. I know the voice that screamed my name earlier belongs to him.

"That car is yours, right?" I ask.

"Yes, it's one of the cars I barely use." He replies and lets himself in.

I was right that the car is familiar. I've seen it in his compound a few times. I don't bother to go put on a dress that isn't so revealing. Nothing about my body is new to him.

It turns out I got scared for no reason. Nobody is here to harm me as I thought. It's just my boss paying me a harmless visit at this time of night. I think I know what he wants. He desires to have his cock sucked.

"Why are you here?" I ask. I decide to act as though I don't know what brought him here.

He makes himself comfortable by finding his way to the living room, sitting, and crossing his legs while he's at it. I remain in the living room with him, but I don't sit.

"Well, if you had picked up your calls, replied to my messages, or even read them, maybe I wouldn't be here." He says to my face.

"I was about to read your messages when you knocked the first time."

If I get him correctly, he's here because I didn't pick up his calls or reply to his messages. Does he care about me that much? First he dropped me off at home after work, and now this.

"I wasn't ignoring you. I forgot to take my phone out of silent mode after I got home." I tell him. I didn't mean to bring him here at this time of night.

"It's good to know that you're fine." He coos.

If he's only here to check on me, he shouldn't have stepped in and made himself comfortable. He's seen that I'm okay. This ought to be the part where he stands up and heads home.

"Are you sure you don't want something else?" I ask. I decide to make this easier for him. I'm fed up with the silence, with its sprinkle of suspense.

"Now that I'm here, maybe I want something else." He responds.

This will be a lot easier for him. He won't have to stress himself helping me take off what's covering my nakedness. None of this makes me a slut. I'm only an employee wanting to satisfy her boss.

I sit next to him. That's the first step. Our eyes lock, and his lips begin to move. I have a feeling he has words for me. Is he about to sleep with me or have a conversation with me?

If it's the latter, he sure has eyes for someone else already.

  • Trapped With My Ex Boss; An Enemy that Ruined Me.    Chapter 31

Diane's POVIs it only me, or is Conrad's scandal fading already? With the scandal handled by his PR team, none of the trouble falls on him, and it's been fading away as quickly as it spread. Conrad would love it. It's all he ever wanted. The scandal fading away means an end is coming to our contract sooner than I expected. I haven't gotten attached to him, only to all the things he has to offer me in return for accepting to do this with him."Are you even with me?" Conrad's voice echoes."Yes. Yes, I'm with you." I reply, batting my eyelashes. I didn't mean to be carried away with my thoughts.I'm worried for myself. The contract ending means I'll go back to being a stripper in one of the most patronized clubs in the city. That isn't me saying I'm not used to that life anymore.Conrad pays me so well, and I've gotten comfortable with being paid so well. To get the amount he pays me, I'd have to work in the club all nigh

  • Trapped With My Ex Boss; An Enemy that Ruined Me.    Chapter 30

Conrad's POVClubbing has become one of my least favorite things to do. It could be because I've been occupied with work lately; it can't be because I'm worried there might be a repeat of the last time. Here I am in front of a club, one of the private clubs in the city. I drove myself down here because it feels like I'm losing my spark, and the best way to reignite it seems to be clubbing.Everyone knows me to be the bubbly type and a nightlife lover, and I don't want that to change. I have a cap on my head, and since it's late in the night, no one should be able to recognize me."Time to unwind." I coo, and proceed to step inside.I left all my problems to Ward to handle, and it was the right decision. He has a team dedicated to solving all my problems, and it has been like that for the longest time. Whoever is stalking Diane will be caught soon. She got herself a new number, and it was my idea. I gave her strict instructions not to give anyone besides me her new contact, not her col

  • Trapped With My Ex Boss; An Enemy that Ruined Me.    Chapter 29

Diane's POVI step into the office breathing heavily. I'm two minutes late to work. I did all I could to avoid it, and that included running from the compound straight to the second floor in heels.Conrad won't go easy on me for being late. He doesn't care to know that I went to bed late, all because I was scared someone might break down my door and come for me after he left.I drop my laptop on my table and try to catch my breath. I don't look in a mirror, but I know my hair is a mess already. I ran without putting it into consideration."Mr. Conrad would like to see you." A colleague walks up to me and says. It's bad that I don't know her name, and it's like that with the rest of them too. Months in this office and I'm still a stranger.I smooth down my skirt, pat my hair twice, and give up on both. Then I pick up my phone from my bag. I already know the words Conrad will speak to me when I show up in front of him, which could be why I'm not fidgety. They won't be nice, I know. I tr

  • Trapped With My Ex Boss; An Enemy that Ruined Me.    Chapter 28

Diane's POV"Somehow, the footage we need to find out about the culprit is missing.""How is that possible?" I'm quick to ask."Whoever the culprit is, he's good at things like this."The CCTV footage would have helped us get to the bottom of the matter. I relied on it. The culprit decided to stay one step ahead of us, and that was wise of them."I have a feeling whoever is behind this is someone who knows you and me." I tell him."You might be right and you might be wrong."I heave a deep sigh that isn't of relief. Until we find out the identity of the culprit, my life is at risk. I can't say the same for Conrad because he has bodyguards looking after him.Ever since he dropped me off at work, I've been thinking about who could be behind this, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Perhaps Conrad is right, and this has to do with him and not me."Don't worry about anything. I have things under control." He interrupts the silence. He definitely says that so I can feel better."I ha

Conrad's POV"You came at the right time." I say to Ward as he walks closely behind me."I do all the time. I have a feeling I'm about to save your ass again like I always do." He responds.I sit on the sofa in the living room. I had a long day at work and I know I ought to go straight to my room for a shower, but there's something important I want to share with Ward.He sits next to me, his eyes fixed on the television screen. My team and his are playing today, which must be the main reason he came, but I'm not in the mood for banter tonight."You kept me waiting at your door. I thought you'd close from work by 5pm. Did you go somewhere after work today?""Yes." I coo."I told you to give me one of your spare keys, but you refused. If you had, I wouldn't have had to wait at the door for hours." He mutters. He's my best friend, but I'm not willing to give him unrestricted access to my space for no personal reason. I take off my suit and take a deep breath. It feels like the right thin
