“Get her!” A sharp voice pierced through my subconscious, it was so loud I felt it close, right next to my ear.
What the heck, I frowned, half asleep.
Who was shouting in my penthouse? For all I know my security guards wouldn't dare disturb me at this hour of the night.
“Kill her before she reaches the gate,” a voice screamed.
Huh? Kill who?
I opened my eyes and my heart nearly flew out of my chest, I wasn't in my room, I was in a thick dark forest.
What in the world? I tried to scream but only air escaped my lungs.
I looked down at my hands, they were pale, almost like white marble. And my finger tips were long and painted deep, shimmering blue, just like the ones of the villainess in my story.
And worse? I wasn't wearing my pajamas, instead. I was wearing a heavy midnight blue gown that has silver armour on the shoulders.
No no no..this can't be happening.
This has to be a dream because the last thing I can recall was finishing a chapter at 2:17am, uploading the manuscript so readers can engage and laughing at how cruel I was to my villainess before diving straight to bed, exhausted.
How the hell did I end up in this godforsaken cursed forest?
An arrow flew past my head and pierced straight into a tree.
“Ah!” I yelled, my heart beating fast as I stumbled backwards.
I looked behind me and saw five men in black leather masks running towards my direction, with
jagged swords that glowed with purple light.
Wait a minute …I recognized those swords.
Those were Shadow-Stingers. I had invented them in my novel three months ago.
“Get her!” The voice came again,I turned to look at them and they were closing in, so I took to my heels.
A branch whipped across my face, stinging my cheek but I kept running. That was when it hit me that I was inside my own book.
I was Seraphina, the Ice Queen of Avalon Academy. And right now, I was in the middle of the chapter I had just written before falling asleep, the one where Seraphina ,the villainess is hunted down like an animal.
“Stop her!” one of the assassins roared, throwing a small glass sphere at my feet.
It exploded and turned into a thick, black smoke, blinding my sight for a moment. God I don't want to die.
Not like this. Suddenly, a strange sensation started building in my stomach. I felt a strange powerful energy rushing up through my chest and down to my arms, and without thinking, I turned around and threw my hands out.
“Get away from me!” I yelled, ice shot from my palms, and hit the ground, growing into a wall of jagged spikes, six feet high.
The assassins screamed as they were forced to dive back.
I didn't stay to watch, I turned and ran toward the light I saw in the distance.
I knew that light. It was the Great Barrier of Avalon Academy. In my book, if Seraphina didn't make it past that barrier by midnight, she would be locked out and killed.
But the barrier was closing slowly, I threw myself forward, and slide across the grass just as the blue light hummed and solidified.
A second later, a loud bang echoed behind me. It was the assassin, they had hit the barrier, and the magic had thrown them back into the dark woods.
I lay there for a moment, face-down on the cold grass, as I gasped for air.
Jeez! I actually survived.
“Lady Seraphina?” a small trembling voice called.
I slowly pushed myself up, brushing the dirt from my gown. I looked up and my breath caught in my throat.
I was standing at the edge of the Grand Courtyard of Avalon Academy. It was even more beautiful than I had described in my chapters.
The buildings were made of white stone that seemed to glow from within, with tall towers that reached for the stars. Huge floating lanterns drifted in the air, casting a soft gold light over everything.
But it wasn't the buildings that scared me. It was the people.
Thousands of students were gathered there, all dressed in the school’s uniform, silver jackets for the nobles, and grey for the commoners.
There were elves with pointed ears, shapeshifters with glowing eyes, and vampires with pale, elegant faces, they were dragons and other kind of supernatural beings that I hadn't seen in movies before, and every single one of them was staring at me.
I stood up and walked forward, but the crowd backed away in fear..
Oh, I get it now, they were afraid of Seraphina, and I was obviously in seraphina’s body, and just as I painted her, she doesn't do nice or friendly.
How on earth do I tell them that I was just Ariana, and that I didn't want to freeze anybody.
I kept my head high and walked through the crowd, trying my best to look like I knew where I was going. But then, I missed my steps and flew across the crowd at the center of the courtyad.
Everyone gasped as I screamed, trying to position myself. But then I hit something, it was as hard as a rock?
No, not rock..I looked up, it was Kaelen, the Lycan King, he was massive , had muscles that stretch the fabric of his shirt. His messy hair was brown, and he had amber piercing eyes.
And I fell at his feet. Kaelen looked down at me, his amber eyes unreadable. But I thought I saw a flicker of concern in his eyes, but it was gone as flash.
He stretched forth his hand to help me, I smiled and took his hand, maybe he isn't as cruel as I wrote him to be, but instead of helping me up, he yanked me to my feet and shove me sideways.
I screamed, startled as I stumbled straight into a tall, silver haired elf dressed in an emerald green academy uniform.
He caught me by my shoulders to keep me from falling.
Thank God. I thought but he looked me up an old down like he was disgusted at my sight.
“Wrong package,” he said with a flat tone. And before I could react, he spun me around and pushed me away.
I flew across the courtyard and slammed into the broad chest of a pale, raven haired vampire.
We shared a moment of eye contact, and for a moment,I thought I saw something like desire, but it was gone as quickly as it came.
“You stained my uniform,” he said staring at my deep blue eyes.
He brushed his jacket as if it was dirty, and flicked my forehead with a single finger but burst of magic exploded from his fingertips, sending me flying backwards.
I ended up landing on the floor. Everyone watched in stunned silence. The Ice queen of Avalon Academy getting tossed around like a rag doll by these three Alpha bullies?
Interesting…I cursed under my breath, my face flushed with embarrassment.
Congratulations, Ariana. You wrote these three insufferable idiots, and now they're making your life a living hell.
I tried to push myself up but held heavy footsteps close to me. I looked up to see the three of them.
Kaelen, the lycan King. The silver haired elf and the Raven haired vampire.
They were standing over me. How did they get here so fast?
Kaelen folded his arms across his broad chest, a mocking smoke tugging at his lips.
"So this is the terrifying Ice Queen?" he said loudly. "I've seen newborn wolf pups with better balance.” he said and laughter erupted from the crowd.
Eryx, the elf adjusted his cuffs and looked down his nose at me.
“I've seen clumsier goblins,” he said.
“At least, they know how to land,” he added and more laughter echoed through the courtyard.
Cassian, the vampire sighed dramatically.
“What a disappointment, I almost mistook you for someone worth catching,” he said and the laughter continued.
Something inside me snapped, and I pushed myself to my feet, glaring at the three of them.
“You know what?” I shot back.
“For Three supposedly powerful Alpha's, you're unbelievably childish. Do you always entertain yourselves by bullying one girl, or is today a special occasion?” I dropped.
There was silence as the laughter instantly died. I smiled at the three Alpha's who looked caught off guard.
And just then, a warm pulse spread through my chest, it was more like a thread of golden light bursting from my heart.
It shot towards the three men, one strand wrapped around Kael's wrist, another around the elf's, and the last around the vampire.
The three of them froze, their eyes widened in shock.
The glowing thread tightened before disappearing under their skin.
The mate bond?
You've got to be kidding me.
These three arrogant jerks are my fated mates?
What kind of a nightmare did I write myself into?
Ariana POVI didn't sleep. Somewhere around four in the morning, I gave up pretending and lay on my back, counting the silver stars painted on the canopy of Seraphina's bed. Twenty. Twenty. Twenty. Even the ceiling seemed to be making a point. Before graduation, I had to choose. Before graduation, I had to escape.Somewhere in the space between those two sentences was supposed to be a plan, and I hadn't found it yet."Mistress, you look like a corpse that lost an argument," Luna announced, holding up a comb like a weapon. She had tied her headscarf in a knot today, and it leaned dangerously to the left. "Sit. I'm doing your hair.""I can do my own hair.""Not with those hands. They're still shaking."I looked down. She was right.By the time we reached the Training Grounds, the sun had barely cleared the towers. A cold mist hung across the field, and rows of wooden dummies stood in it like sentries who had given up. Students in black practice uniforms whispered in clusters. Every clus
Ariana POVI poked at my lunch, a fruit that looked like a star and tasted like honey, but I wasn't hungry."You look like you're trying to solve a math problem with your eyes," a smooth, melodic voice said.I looked up to see Eryx.He slid into the seat across from me, his movements as graceful as a cat."I’m just thinking," I said, trying to keep my voice steady."About the mate?" Eryx leaned in closer. "It’s a heavy burden for a Queen. Three potential mates." He said.I sighed, putting down my spoon. "It's not that simple, Eryx.""But it could be," he whispered, with a playful smirk."If you’re confused about who to choose, maybe I can help you see clearly."I raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And how would you do that?"He counted on his long, slender fingers. "First, let’s talk about the Vampire.Cassian,he’s charming, yes. But did you know he already has a girlfriend? A beautiful noble witch from the Night Realm. He’s probably just playing a game here." "A girlfriend?" I asked, unable
Ariana POVBy the time I reached my classroom, I was completely out of breath.I leaned against the wooden door and took a deep breath.Calm down, Ariana. It was just the mate bond."I shook my head. This world is insane. The classroom was already half full.Rows of polished oak desks curved around the room in a semicircle, all facing a floating crystal board where glowing words appeared by themselves. Enchanted windows stretched from floor to ceiling, allowing warm sunlight to pour inside while tiny blue butterflies fluttered around magical flowers growing from stone planters. The moment I stepped inside, every conversation stopped, as dozens of eyes followed me.I walked to the seat at the very back of the room without looking at anyone."Morning, Lady Seraphina.""Good morning, Ice Queen."A few students greeted me nervously.I simply nodded. If Seraphina rarely spoke, then I wasn't about to start giving cheerful speeches.A few moments later, Professor Marcus entered. His long robe
Ariana POVThe next morning, Avalon Academy looked as though nothing had happened, well I guess nothing had happened, except that I was humiliated in front of everyone by those three Alpha bullies.Students filled the stone walkways, chatting and laughing as enchanted birds circled the towers overhead. Floating lanterns drifted lazily through the morning sky while magical carriages landed one after another near the academy gates.Meanwhile, I looked like someone who hadn't slept in three days, but to be fair, I hadn't exactly slept.Every time I closed my eyes, I heard the Moon Goddess's voice.Choose one true mate, or die.Not exactly the kind of bedtime story anyone wanted, right?I tightened my grip around the strap of my leather school bag and sighed."One problem at a time, Ariana."First, survive school. Then figure out how not to die.The marble corridors buzzed with students as I made my way toward the locker hall.Almost every conversation stopped when I walked past."That's
